  1. I'm using nm-connection-editor in Ubuntu 18.04 to share my PC's internet from wifi to ethernet to another device. It seems to have a DHCP server out of the box. How do I disable the DHCP server and have the PC forward DHCP from the wireless router it is connected to. Basically I want the device sharing to be accessible on the same network instead of under the network created by default when you hit share in nm connection editor.
  2. Got a Akitio Node Pro with an XFX 560. The laptop is a spectre x360. The egpu works fine, however when i shutoff the laptop the 560 fans ramp up to max and stay there with the laptop off. Is there a thunderbolt or amd setting to fix this?
  3. Looking for a case other than the supermicro rack mounts and the one tower on supermicros website. The motherboard is https://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/xeon/c600/x9dr3-ln4f_.cfm It is 13.68 x 13. I think it has SSI EEB screw holes, but is just taller. Any ideas?
  4. What’s the deal with the thunderbolt licensing with AMD? I have an Asrock X399 Professional Gaming motherboard with a TB3 header, but currently there are still no compatible cards. I have heard that Gigabyte last fall teased TB3 on the Designare board. I have also heard that Intel is supposed to be open sourcing TB3 or licensing it to AMD this year. Is this still coming?
  5. The new Xeons have been out for a while. I’m just wondering when the used market for the E5 v3 and v4s will be cheap like the v1s and v2s. Seems like they are selling high used compared to when v1 and v2 were replaced with v3. Are large datacenters not ready to retire v3 products or is there not the performance value in the new metal themed Xeons?
  6. Interesting. I set it up with a static IP and it working fine. For some reason it isn't working with the DHCP. Oh, well. Static will work fine.
  7. I'm using VirtualBox. Normally if I want the VM to show up on my local network I use the "bridge" configuration instead of the the VirtualBox NAT. This has always worked fine on my machines until I just replaced my router with a PFSense box. I can't ping my router from the guest VM. I can ping it fine from my host machine. Is there some firewall rule in PFSense that I need to change to allow bridged adapters on the network?
  8. @AngryBeaver Sorry. It is just the PCIe connector covered in oil. Hard to see.
  9. @AngryBeaver I added another photo. It is running down the PCIe connector too. Should I take the backplate off and soak it up?
  10. I have an EVGA 1070 FTW. I was opening my case to dust it out and I noticed it has some oil all over the inside of the backplate. It is even running down the PCIe connector. It’s an air cooled system. Just wondering where this came from. Seems to work alright. Do I need to RMA it?
  11. I agree. I didn't have to do what was recommended. I had to disable wait for link to get them to see each other which confirms your solution.
  12. Found some old surplus servers. Wondering what these connectors are. They aren't SATA.
  13. I have a router with the DHCP connected to another NIC on the NAS. I bridged the internet NIC with 10GB NIC on the NAS. The switch I mentioned I just patched between the two PCs to see if I had a bad cable. There are no Xs with the switch between. Remove it and have a direct connection it doesn't work. I will configure as you have mentioned. Thanks.
  14. I bought an Intel 10Gb RJ45 Nic for my NAS PC. My desktop has an Aquantia 10Gb nic built in. (Asrock X399) I bridged the internet on the NAS with the 10Gb nic. Problem is when I connect both Nics on the two computers both have an X over the adapter like they aren't plugged in. If I take that same cable and plug it into a switch and then into the second machine both Xs disappear. (I can't run like this because I need the full 10Gb and the switch is only Gb) Is there something I need to toggle on the NAS bridge for link detection etc? Why would it show up with a switch between and not PC to PC? Running windows 10 Pro on both.
  15. Interesting thing. My YouTube app on my iPhone and my wife's iPhone won't work on my home wifi. The app works on other peoples wifi and cellular. The only thing out of the ordinary I can think of is that I have an Apache server on the network and I have the web port 80 in my router forwarded to that machine to host the site. I haven't found anything else not working. Just the Youtube app. Funny though, youtube.com works in the phone browser.
