LTT Official Folding Month 2021!!!
Beowulff83 replied to GOTSpectrum's topic in Folding@home, Boinc, and Coin Mining
My kids pc, gtx 1060 started having fits about 10 days in. I had to turn down the power to about 80% and under clock it to let it limp on the rest of the competition. No worries they will get my 1070Ti when I upgrade . . . when gpu's are available again at a reasonable price . It's so quiet now without that box fan blowing on the open case under my desk lol. Well Done Everyone! -

What do you have in your "Home Theater" ?
Beowulff83 replied to Home Theater Dummy's topic in Home Theater Equipment
LG B9 65" Panasonic DP UB820 Denon AVR-X3500H I have this in a 5.1.2 Atmos configuration Energy CF-70 L&R Energy CC-10 C Polk S10 SL&SR lol using my old tiny sony speakers from my old HTIAB I bought on clearance 20 years ago as my HL&HR BIC America F12 sub I also have a zone 2 output going to a cheap amp feeding 2- Klipsch KHO-7 outdoor speakers Tivo cable box Kids gaming PC r5 1600, gtx1060 6gb, 8gb ram and my pc can be hooked up as well. My next upgrade will be the atmos speakers. But as this is not my permanent home I want to see my future house before I decide on what of atmos speakers to get. My biggest dislike is some of the features on the tv itself. Ethernet connection is crap. I can't use free-sync/g-sync because I still have pascal cards, once a I get a new gpu this problem will go away . . . when ever that is -
First pc build, any advice/opinions appreciated!

I am not sure about Argentina but it may be a better value at this time to get a pre-built. -
So your friend can go this route. But basically they will be paying $$$ in hopes to scare the person off with civil action. Civil court itself will probably not do anything but make your friend broke from attorney fees. It may be worth paying an attorney to draft up an official letter and have them send it to the person causing problems but i would not actually pursue and further action after that. The attorney would be the only winner in that situation.

What graphics card do I need to play Path of Exile (1440p) ?
Beowulff83 replied to ScarabCaptor's topic in Graphics Cards
I think your plan of upgrading your cpu motherboard and go with 16gb ram first. Then get the best gpu you can afford. -

Beowulff83 replied to ScarabCaptor's topic in Graphics Cards
I find it hard to believe you can't run it in 1440 with your current set up. PoE is not a very demanding title. You did not mention how much ram you have currently. Maybe upgrade the cpu ram first and plug your 480 in it and see how it performs -
Where should I upgrade my build?
Beowulff83 replied to Colin_Ginger's topic in New Builds and Planning
I would probably upgrade your graphics card first or get a nice 1440p monitor and get a graphics card a little later. -

I feel your pain, sounds like my kids 1060's single fan is starting to die. . . . it would be terrible if it went out and i had to replace it with my 1070Ti causing me to upgrade to a new gpu -

You may see the price of your graphics card dip a little bit at the end of the month when the 3070 is released. Or look to purchase a graphics card second hand while that is happening.
-
Go 3080 and don't look back as long as you have the $$ for it. agreed

directly connect the modem to your pc and do some more testing. this should help you to determine if its the new router or a problem on the isp side.
-
replace the battery. I am using an old 6 still with a new battery and new screen
-
Yes there is a point. as long as you are using an ethernet connection to measure your speed you should still be getting faster speeds. I can take a 8 channel docsis 3.0 modem provision it for 1 gig but it will only pull 150 Mbps. The point is that it should be hitting the max speed rated for that modem. Dropping from 100 all the way down to 39 there is probably an issue going on that needs to be looked at. After any issues are resolved he could then either buy a modem that will meet those requirements or could drop down to a package to match their current equipment.

I would wait until the reviews are out. At least then you will know if the next gen fx cards are any good.

Chickens naturally go back in their coop in the evening before dark. As long as the door is set to close at dark there should be no chickens left outside.
