  1. hmm quite the pickle indeed. My gut says 1400 or 1600. Personally I play pubg on a 4c/8t xeon at 3.5ghz and I usually stay above 60fps with dips into the 40s on occastion, usually in the first game when textures are being loaded, do note that I use a 1080ti but Im 99% sure its my cpu that causes the dips. however, a 1600 would last you for quite some time. I think pubg is considerably multi threaded so Id skip the r3.
  2. Id get pc3, discreet gpu and those cpus arent bad either, not much of an upgrade path tho. do you already own the i5? if you dont already own one of the i5's then I would go with pc1 for the upgrade path, use the apu for awhile and upgrade to cpu + discreet graphics card when you can afford it...actually just keep using the apu with a discreet card, that would probably be fine if your budget is tight.
  3. You might have the fan curve set such that the fan ramps up and cools of the cpu then slows back down, but right as the fan slows the cpu starts to heat up again, causing the fan and the cpu temps to bounce back and forth over the threshold. Try looking in the bios and check if the fans are set to ramp up around the temp your cpu is at when this is happening.
  4. If youre trying to save a few bucks go with ryzen 1600, Its a good cpu with a solid upgrade path and you honestly shouldnt have to upgrade for quite a few years. Then get what ever graphics card you can afford BUT DONT PAY TOO MUCH!! the graphics card industry is wack right now so Id hate to see you pay double for a low end card, so make sure you compare whate youd be actually paying with the MSRP. Its ok to pay alittle over MSRP but I wouldnt pay more than 20-30 dollars more. Last I checked the 1050ti was a a good choice for 1080p, you might have to lower some setting here and there but thats no biggy imho. However, Intel coffee lake is definitely better for gaming but its more expensive for the same number of threads and Im a thread kind of guy. Those new i5's are compelling as well but less threads. Also, price/performance is better with intel coffee lake but it is more expensive overall. honestly, youll have a great gaming experience with either platform and dont let anyone tell you otherwise. (note: coffee lake is having supply issues from what I understand so I might be hard to get a hold of an 8th gen intel chip ATM) The NZXT kraken is probably my favorite AIO cooler but its REALLY expensive for my blood, itll do good by you tho. personally, Id go with the 2 case fans and get a much cheaper cpu cooler. Youll probably have no issues either way tho tbh. The kraken would be better for overclocking I assume due to cooler temps. Lastly, ssd's are the shit. Get one.
  5. This for me, except I use thumb on space often and pinky on shift often.
  6. your correct, I was just generalizing. If you were to compare all x370's vs all b350's then you'd find in general x370's have better hardware than b350 since x370 is more geared for enthusiasts. But im sure there are exceptions to this rule no doubt.
  7. Seems like a reasonable OC to me ecpecially @ 66C, it should last you awhile np. And I honestly dont have a strong opinion on specific motherboards, I usually just go with the board that has the features I need without breaking the bank. Personally I like AsRock, my main rig is running an AsRock and has been for almost 4 years with heavy use so I like them at this point.
  8. B350 OC fine, they arent quite as good as x370 but they arent going to blow up on you or anything, youll just get less of an OC than with an x370 mobo
  9. Personally, id go with ryzen, better upgrade path and the extra threads are only going to get more important as time goes on. I game on a 4c/8t chip at 3.5 ghz and it still rocks any game I throw at it. And overclocking the 1400 to 3.5-3.8 should be cheap and easy on a B350 mobo, might even be able to get it up to 4.0 if your lucky
  10. Id do this if you can. wait if you can go with ryzen if you cant, you very probably will never look back once you have it in your system
  11. The 1080 is old so if a 1070ti gets/keeps nvidia market share then I could see nvidia doing that. Ti cards are basically cards that cannibalize a previous card. The 1080ti made the titan xp look like a joke for example. But you might be right, we'll have to wait and see I suppose.
  12. And the 1070 isnt faster, the review said the trade blows depending on the game, the 1070 is however more power efficient.
