Not really lurking. Got busy with work and I stayed away for a while after due to the forum breach. Now that my work involves using my computer I cant really do any high OCs as I cant afford to replace hardware right now.

VRM overheating?

I have a Kingpin pot and Fluke 52 II with K probe you can buy. It'll work with both Intel and AMD Sockets.

For those further curious. Most of the problems that Linus speak of, the Warthog does not have.
-
It's idle. Idle speed will be FSB x 7.
-
@LinusTech With the cost of that setup no one is going to buy a 200 dollar HOTAS. You need to do a DCS and Thrustmaster Warthog video.

Low fps every game, MOBO or CPU ?
Priller replied to Hezork's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
They may not have gotten it all out or damaged the board during cleaning. The board needs to have a full inspection -
fx-6300 settings for overclock? help
Priller replied to adamsjus1's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I got a 6300 Prime95 stable at 4.5Ghz without too much of a problem but you will need to play around with it to see what your CPU will require and what the temps look like. -
Been a while since I logged in but that is CPU Vcore. If you look at CPU NB voltage it is at 1.1875V(second picture) he needs to increase it to 1.25V as I stated.
-
With 214 FSB you are running your 1600mhz ram at 1712 with the stock voltage. Increase ram voltage and bump CPU/NB voltage to 1.25V

Why is dominator platinum so expensive?
Priller replied to farhanorakzai's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Trident Xs look very good and even have removable heatsinks so you can reduce height for large coolers. All while still being much cheaper then Dom. Plats. I dont think G. Skill will release DDR4 Tridents for a while because Tridents are often the best ram you can get and DDR4 isnt mature enough yet for the higher speeds and lower CL. -

They are ok. Just compare Speed, CL, and price. -
Does the 990FX Killer even have LLC? I thought it didn't and it would make it useless and not worth mentioning.

Unexpected performence drop ....! i7 4790K
Priller replied to OCing Noob's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Just increase the voltage slightly and see if your render times drop. If they do then you have the answer. It may stress the CPU differently then the stress testing you have done.- 8 replies

Why is dominator platinum so expensive?
Priller replied to farhanorakzai's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
G. Skill offers better ram with higher speed and lower latency at the same price or typically cheaper. G.Skill also tends to have better compatibility then Corsair as some Corsair dimms seem to be problematic while the G. Skills run flawlessly. -
I tested a 4690K and my 8350 in Handbrake. Atleast this result is cherry picked using a Low Quality film. I made a post about the test a while ago. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/62476-post-your-cinebench-r15r1152003-scores-over-250-submissions/page-167#entry3668470 The result was the 8350 was about 4 minutes faster doing a modern movie and what most people would end up doing 99% of the time if they where doing it for their home server(Plex, etc)

RAM suggestion - Savage, Predator etc.
Priller replied to Formhault's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
The better option was this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231587&cm_re=Trident_X-_-20-231-587-_-Product 2400mhz CL10 and 75 USD -
Memory OverClock Question.. Did I do it right?
Priller replied to Dive5885's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
You should It's not worth going to 2133 if you need to change the CL(Cas Latency) to 12. It basically will all equal out since the CL is going up. -
Memory OverClock Question.. Did I do it right?
Priller replied to Dive5885's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I would bump voltage to 1.6 and try you 1600mhz timings at 1866 and see if it's stable. -
Memory OverClock Question.. Did I do it right?
Priller replied to Dive5885's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
At 1866 CL11? Or CL10? -
The 8350 was released 2012-10-23 Far from 5 years old.

Memory OverClock Question.. Did I do it right?
Priller replied to Dive5885's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
There is basically no difference between 1600 CL10 and 1866 CL11. Bump the ram voltage alittle bit and try for 1866 CL10. -

Noticed the connector right away when I saw the picture. Easy fix is good. Avoids an RMA.
