Hi All,
I currently have a i7 6700 Skylake but the mainboard SATA ports are starting to stuff up (Every time I restart/boot, I loose a drive. Have to reboot)
Now this has got me thinking to buy/upgrade to another computer. I want to build a PCVR system and also a PC Game/Home Office PC. I heard from Gamer's Nexus in one of his video's that a i7 9700K is the best for pure gaming, so I have already got in my old rig a 650W platinum PSU, G-Skill SK Hynix F4-3000C15-8GTZR x 4 (32GB) Ram and a Gigabyte GeForce RTX2070 Super Gaming OC 8GB.
I will buy a 2080ti for the PCVR rig and keep the RTX2070S for my PC rig, but should I go down the road of buying a i7 and a motherboard to "upgrade" my PC to a PCVR or should I just get a AMD?
Can I use my current ram in a AMD build (I heard that 3000Mhz Ram doesnt work in AMD)
Also what is a decent PC to get for PC Games?
With PCVR I have a Oculus Quest and I like to cable attach the Quest to the PC in the loungeroom. I have Steam VR Games, Oculus Games and a Subscription to Valve.
With PC, I like playing FPS, Racing, Starcraft etc.
Can you knowledgeable folk here in Linus World please guide me in what would be 2 good machines for the next 3 to 5 years at least (so my wife doesnt kill me)
Thanks
