  1. I'm using a Corsair one, previously it was a NZXT, but it was a hand-me-down, so I upgraded to a current one, a year or so ago, but it most well could be the pump or something similar!! I'll definitely look into this
  2. It was built maybe a year ago now, and has been worked perfectly since, In regards to installing windows again, it seemed to help me one other time when it was just misregistering the temp as way higher than usual, but this time I can Physically feel the heat radiating from the socket, so you're probably right ! All the fans are clean and working, the GPU seems to be cooling just fine, it's just the cpu
  3. My PC seems to be overheating for no apparent reason, and I just wanted to check there wasn't anything else I should do/try before reinstalling windows or replacing parts. Nothing Is open that would cause this to happen, and the cooler is working/on, I attached some images of programs showing the heat, I'm just trying to make sure I haven't missed anything! Thanks for your help!!
  4. Hey there! So I recently upgraded my rig (part list below), to a fairly high end machine, and I'm having some trouble understanding if this is normal. The game I play most frequently is leauge of legends, and my average fps is around 100-150.. considered my specs, this feels a little low, and not great when I'm running a 165hz display :( The game is stored on the Samsung SSD, and I've updated drivers, uninstalled/reinstalled the game, and just about everything else... Any thoughts? Happy to answer any troubleshooting questions! Thanks :D PCPartPicker Part List: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/z4RFMc CPU: Intel Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor (£491.99 @ Amazon UK) CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X62 Liquid CPU Cooler (Purchased For £140.00) Motherboard: MSI MPG Z390 GAMING EDGE AC ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£149.96 @ Amazon UK) Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (£193.30 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£121.39 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Kingston KC2000 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (£94.79 @ Scan.co.uk) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 6 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive (£120.97 @ CCL Computers) Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11 GB WINDFORCE Video Card (£1099.99 @ CCL Computers) Case: NZXT H710i ATX Mid Tower Case (£169.99 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: Corsair RMx White (2018) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (£114.99 @ Amazon UK) Monitor: Asus ROG SWIFT PG278QR 27.0" 2560x1440 165 Hz Monitor (£698.05 @ Amazon UK) Total: £3395.42 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
  5. Oh that's wierd! He seemed to do it ok, I'll check that real quick and report my findings, Thanks for responding!
  6. Hi Guys! Been a while since I posted, and the first time I've posted in this topic, but I'm having some issues setting up a minecraft server on a VM. Not quite sure what I'm doing wrong but this is the error I get. I've allocated the VM 12GB, and 2 cores (to be adjusted after it works), but nothing I've tried seems to help it. I've played with the amounts (1024, 102, 2048 etc) but that doesn't help, Redownloading the .jar.. nothing Here are the files I have; For some reason it generated the log/eula etc after the command prompt closed, so not sure about that! Before submitting this, I made sure to try this on my actual machine, and the exact same issue popped up, which makes me think its not a virtualisation issue and something up with how I'm doing things! However I'm following this video to a T! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrkWx_MotjE Is there something obvious I've done wrong? Thanks guys!!
  7. Hi YOU lot. I'm trying to figure out how people get such nice pictures of their PC's? Are there some secrets I'm not familiar with? Or do you just have to be good at photography.. Google isn't being much help but any help here would be great, Thanks bembi
  8. Good call, even though I only really intend to overclock the CPU to start with, (as overclocking both would just recreate the same bottleneck I'd have if I left at stock, depending on the carbon lottery) It'll make sense in the long run Plus, I love not having to worry about stuff >:)
  9. Yeah I made the same mistake on reddit! Lmao, yeah its a 6800k. And I currently have a 600W, which will be paired with the 2080ti, not a 2070, reckon it'll make a difference?
  10. Hey y'all, Been planning to upgrade my current build recently, already bought my GPU due to a spur of the moment purchase (it had to be done), but I was hoping for a few opinions on the rest of the build! A couple of the items are from my last rig (Found here: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/b/hMbXsY), but I'll mark those parts for readability. Here goes: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU Intel Core i7-6800K 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor £337.77 @ Amazon UK CPU Cooler NZXT Kraken X62 Rev 2 98.17 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler £127.54 @ Box Limited Memory Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory £192.08 @ CCL Computers Storage Toshiba XG5 256 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive Storage Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive £199.50 @ Aria PC Video Card Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11 GB WINDFORCE OC Video Card £1099.99 @ Amazon UK Case NZXT H500 ATX Mid Tower Case £67.98 @ Amazon UK Power Supply Corsair RMx White (2018) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply £114.99 @ Corsair UK Custom X99A SLI PLUS Purchased Custom Some ol Samsung SSD (From Last Build) Purchased Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total £2097.08 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-09-04 23:07 BST+0100 Reasonings: CPU: This is carried over from my last build, it's only been slightly overclocked and I turned it back down to stock after a month or so. This will understandably be the bottleneck here, but once I have the capital to updooot both the CPU+Mobo, I'll get something a little more modern, as for now a 6800k clocked at 4.2-4.5ghz should do nicely. I'll see what's out when I come to upgrading. CPU Cooler: This is carried over from my last machine also, holds up well, never really had an issue, should be good enough for sure to OC a fair amount. Memory: Due to the nature of my work (or work/hobby) RAM is a much-needed upgrade here, this is the max my mobo can handle (3200), but it's also my upper limit price wise in terms of RAM. So I'll be very content with it. Storage: Bit of a shit show on PCPartPicker, but I intend to have the Toshiba m.2 till I muster up the strength to drop 2 Benjis on a 970, given that's still the "go-to" when I get round to it. Other than M.2 I have 2 HDD's and one standard SSD, 1 x 1TB 3.5, 1 x 1TB 2.5 (from my ps4, since I swapped the HDD out for a larger one in there) and a Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250 GB 2.5", so I should be alright on space for now! (lol) Video Card: Ah, my favourite. This has been a driving force in the reasoning for this upgrade for a while. Even though a new card is bound to come out the moment I get this one (sods law), this will do everything I need for years to come. Not to mention I can always watercool/sli/both if it comes down to it, but we're talking waaaaaaaay off... Right..? Case: Used to have the acrylic version of this case, loved it a hell of a lot. Traded it for a fractal design one which is only.. meh. Loved the design so thought I'd run it back. PSU: This is carried over from my last build. Something I actually wanted to ask about.. do you lot reckon this build will be happy with a 500W PSU? I think it will be, since I hear so much about how GPU's and motherboards are becoming more economical to run, less power draw, etc etc. So what's your guy's collective opinion on that? Would be genuinely interested to see what's what. Motherboard: For this, I have an MSI X99A SLI Plus. This is carried over from my last build and is understandably quite outdated by today's standards. Which sucks.. but. Upgrading this would mean I have to upgrade my CPU, which I'm just not willing to do currently, maybe in.. a month? two? We'll see... heh. It handles OCing very well though, max of 128GB at 3200 so lots of room (if I intended on keeping this) It'll just.. have to do! I believe that's everything! If you think I missed something out, there's something I can do to improve this upgrade, or you think I'm a melon for not waiting till I was happy to do a full upgrade of anything, let me know Peace
  11. Hi gang! Im aware this is primarily a hardware community (or at the very least, not an iPhone/apple one!) but I’m not really a member of any others and it felt silly to sign up for one just to make this post, so, here goes. My friend is having an issue with her iPhone which is stopping her from disableing automatic timezone detection, the option is just greyed out, whereas for mine, it’s not locked and I can switch between having it locked or unlocked. Anyone know why this is or have a solution for this? Thanks guys!
  12. That's a good idea, I'll have to bring mine over next time I see him and give them a try, I'll let him know, thanks for the input!
  13. Yeah, thats what I believe it is, as he has just been traveling with it and its so easy to just have a cable that comes lose whilst in the boot of a car or something! I'll relay that back to him, thanks!
  14. Hi, My friends PC had randomly stopped displaying anything on screen, He says the PC seems to be working ok as it lights up and HDD start etc, but he cant get it to post to the PC, I've tried troubleshooting it but as he lives in London I can't really do an hands on trouble shoot, Is there anything I'm missing beyond check all connections, try new monitor, check HDD is properly spinning with no faults... etc etc? Thanks for any responses in advance! The specs shouldnt matter too much, but its about 2-3 years old and was working perfectly 2 days ago when I saw it working fine
  15. Hi All! Do not be fooled by my terrible naming of this topic! It's something super obscure that I can't really find anywhere on the internet, possibly due to my lack of skills when it comes to searching! But I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to mount a GPU on a wall, or have it stand up on a shelf, or really just a way to mount it for viewing purposes :) This GPU was my first one and is still going strong, but I'm thinking about upgrading soon as its only really good for e-sport games, minus PUBG of course! Even if theres a company that sells this kind of thing, I'd love to know! Doesn't have to be DIY (infact I'd prefer non-DIY solutions, but open to everything) Let me know if you know of anything I could use/anything I could make. Thanks for your time! PS: The card is an old Windforce R9 280X I believe :)
