  1. Figured it out: RETARDED Steam is thinking its smart and tries to force you to use steam big picture mode, more like big p**sy mode
  2. 2.4GHZ USB wireless controller only acts up on my laptop, while it worked ok on it before.... Controller connects via a 2.4GHZ dongle, then should be paired as a random controller, then holding the "HOME" button on it starts Xinput mode where it imitates an Xbox 360 controller and every game and OS sees it as an OEM Xbox 360 controller. HOWEVER, since getting on my summer break, my controller would light up when connected, no function on it would work, except the HOME button which ONLY can open a new Chrome tab and thats it. "Set up USB game controllers" option in Windows shows only 3 buttons instead of 12 or so incl analog axis, but none actually work except the home button, which opens chrome. Device manager sees it as an "HID Compliant game controller" While dads laptop sees it as a PC/PS3/Android controller in normal mode or an Original x360 accessory (controller). How can I make it work again on my laptop? Sometimes, after a fresh reboot, it works normally, but 99% does not.
  3. Done 2/4 passes, 0 errors.... Gotta wait another 45mins for other 2 passes
  4. I literally reinstalled the games and it doesnt help
  5. Dell XPS 15 9550 i5-6300HQ GTX 960M 2GB 8GB 2400MHz ram running at 2133MHz Ive had this laptop for 3.5 years, gamed on it for 3 years, until I got to college when I didnt have time to game, but my laptop was 100% used for studying on max Chrome tabs 8GB ram can take. Now on summer break, I fired up ETS2, never could even start the truck, it would crash. TF2 would crash the same way, etc. Every time, the error would be memory related, and every time, steam would crash with the game. I need to know whats wrong with this laptop/steam, why it crashes...... Please help, I DDUd the drivers, reinstalled all games and steam. Non steam games appear to run without issues. Also to note, when these Steam games crash, they seem to take all open apps (even in background) with them. Id get notifications from BatteryBar that it crashed, from chrome extensions while chrome is closed etc.
  6. UPDATE: BAKING THE SSD FOR 8 MINS AT 200* CELSIUS REVIVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Thing im scared of, is that my mobo now causes premature death of ssds, as this one survived heating the bios chip 10x it even held the apps open when i plugged everything in, because quick boot was enabled, then died 42 days later.... ive popped in a sata m.2 from my xps 15 and its shown in bios, while the fried ssd isnt shown in either hp or dells bios. Im scared of putting an ssd for longer than just to check in in bios, to not cause damage to it
  8. Yeah, but I didnt do work on it, I worked on the motherboard, 3cm away from the ssd... Also lost 2 capacitors on motherboard while replacing the bios chip. So is the nearby heat the cause or could it possibly be that its because there arent 2 capacitors where they should be?
  9. The ssd screw was stripped on my Ryzen Elitebook and I had to solder a new chip on the motherboard, close to the ssd. 45 days later Windows 11 had a Black screen of death, since then, ssd isnt visible by any device I have in my house. It sometimes shows sign of life by loading windows boot animation and advanced recovery that can try to do system restore but fails because it has no data etc. Did the SSD die because it was heatgunned at 400°C (altough it was shielded with tin foil) or my motherboards caused something? Ssd is Toshiba 256gb nvme of some sort UPDATE: BAKING THE SSD FOR 8 MINS AT 200* CELSIUS REVIVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. XPS 15 9550 with Nvidia optimus from Intel HD 530 to GTX 960m. I double click a desktop icon to open a game===brightness is 100%. Why is it trying to be so smart? I cant stand any brightness on this laptop more than 40%. When its 100% I am able to go back to 40% with Fn+key, but sometimes Alt-tabbing reverts it to 100%. Also I think it BSODed on me 2 days ago with VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE because of alt-tabbing a game
  11. Linpack output times are a result of doing intel burn test. Why do I get better speeds with more voltage? -180mV undervolt gets around 106 seconds, while -170mV gets 101 seconds. Cpu is i5 6300hq
  12. My controller is some ebay x360 knock off with xinput compatibility. I use it always in xinput mode, which is enabled by holding a "button 13" for 5 seconds, which im bored of doing every time i plug in the 2.4GHZ USB. Between the 2 modes, PC recognizes it like 2 devices, so if I could make the 1st device falsely input "button 13" until the USB reciever is informed that the mode had been changed. If anyone knows something about making this possible, please help, Thanks
  13. i didnt say grub caused sleep or restart but has caused stuff like loading both oses at the same time or messed up something, due to the fighty bootloader from windows,
  14. Ok maybe my boot menu would even show partitions, currently: Windows boot manager, Sandisk X400 Partition 2, and third option "ubuntu" which is my external ssd. I reall want to avoid GRUB and dont want these 2 OSes to share anything except the SSD. Ive had bad experience with grub, restarts and sleeps of the OSes VMs are crap
  15. I want to dual boot Ubuntu and Windows, but dont want to mess with bootloaders. I want to dual boot in BIOS boot order, to choose to boot from ssd1 and ssd2, but i only have 1 ssd inside. I need to divide my SSD somehow, to make the laptop think its 2 ssds, so i can only choose from which "ssd" to boot. Grub bootloader increases normal boot time, and i want to use ubuntu like once a month. Is this possible (i think so) and how? Dell XPS 15 9550
  16. seems that my undervolt caps it at 25W, with stock voltage it goes to 35W
  17. I know its 45W even without googling, evryone can google, but people have this to 80-90W (On some desktop cpus-with 95 TDP) where mines 15
  18. HWmonitor CPU powers, does this mean that the cpu is 15W? Its undervolted with Throttlestop -147.5mV PS The Max value while gaming was around 14-15, but while I was opening chrome and loading this page it went to 16W
  19. i think that buying a case and some desktop parts is not a good fix for this issue, but whatever
  20. what are you trying to say? makes zero sense to me...
  21. Dell XPS 15 intel hd 530 gtx 960m 4k TV, shit HDMI cable. Intel control panel FORCED to 1080p 60 because 4k is capped at 30. Nvidia still uses 3840x2160p 30Hz native resolution, which means gaming on 1080p is capped at 30Hz. Suicide How to fix these pieces of crap? I just want to make Nvidia think this is a 1080p display, to enjoy all 60 frames that the 960m can give. Thanks
  22. I cant play forza online because i dont have teredo tunneling something and i cant enable it AT ALL. Its nowhere to be seen on both of my laptops... Shoit... Someone please help, Thanks...
  23. Yes, I have. Tho not really a fan of what hes showing. These guys only customize their Desktop by putting large widget saying SATURDAY or 12:45 across the display
  24. I would like a recommendation on a theme, icon pack, app for customizing some parts, adding transparency to distingiush it from other Windows 10 machines. Seems that this is going to be hard tho lol
