  1. 1.6v vcore on a 45nm chip? is that even legal? You should give the GTLs a try and show this chip some mercy! I hope it's gonna work for you. Do not worry about optimizing your GTLs, but do not go beyond the limits! All technical documents from Intel suggest 0.720x is the limit but also remember that GTLs are derived from FSB Termination voltage so let's say that you set CPU GTL Ref [0/2] to 0.64 and your vFSB is 1.26v then the actual GTL voltage would be 0.64 x 1.26 = 0.8064v for these two pairs of cores what I want to say don't go so high with VTT when your bumping up your GTLs as anadatech has sent their QX9650 to death with 1.5v of VTT so play it safe and don't exceed 1.4v, 1.45v would be your absolute max but I think with some NB/CPU GTLs tweaking you'll managed to greatly lower your VTT! Back in 2008, the guys in bit-tech.net had an interview with MSI's P45 engineers and they revealed what really does matter when you're overclocking a P45 board and GTLs were on the top of their list and in a related context they were speaking to Asus product managers, they affirmed that just 1.25-1.3V on the northbridge and playing with the CPU VTT and NB/CPU GTL factors can offer a whole more world of performance margins, especially if you are considering DDR3. Anyway I were talking with a guy in overclock.com forum and he assured me that those GTLs doesn't play a great role in his x48-DQ6 board, he's using a C2D maybe it can't help with these processors but I also figured out that x48 BIOSes got only one option for the CPU GTLs so he can't tweak it separately for each pair of cores just like the P45 Boards (I have CPU GTL Ref [0/2] and CPU GTL Ref [1/3]) that's maybe restricting the overclocking ability of these boards or at least marginalizing the GTLs effect in some cases! I don't know what mobo you use but if you got this you might want to play with Ai Transaction Booster\"common performance level" I can't post with 10 or lower, 11 isn not stable but 100% stable with 12 I think i can tighten it with more nb voltage so try to loose it when you're tweaking your voltages then put it to the lower stable value. and make sure to set your Ai Clock Twister to light or even lighter I can't stand for 2 passes in IBT with "strong" but it's fine with moderate! Have a great party with your beast!
  2. What? This Database doesn't contain the glorious Q9650?! Hold up, leme fix that https://valid.x86.fr/d3bth8 It's all in the CPU/NB GTLs, before tweaking them I had to setup these disastrous voltages vcore 1.4v, PLL 1.6v, VTT 1.44v, NB 1.46v to just pass 10 passes in IBT! I tried every combination you can ever imagine with no help, these voltages otherwise not! I've noticed that I've never touched those GTLs as every guide I've read saying leave this to AUTO but it's the second setting after the vcore it must be important and it's there for something so I decided to read more about those GTLs, actually I've read a lot about it, I haven't understood a single word about it. Hence, I was more convinced of the importance of that thing. So I bumped my NB GTL from 0.63 to 0.635 and the CPU GTL [0/2], [1/3] from AUTO to 0.640x/0.680x by only doing this magical adjustment I manged to lower my VTT to 1.20v, PLL to 1.50v and NB to 1.26v and vCore to 1.265v look how a small increase have such a large impact in stability! -that process took me days to be accomplished-
  3. Yea ASUS DCII BIOS broke my card but I reflashed it with the original one and it's working fine now. And yes I've tried MSI AB but I can't exceed 1.225v I also tried sapphire trixx and asus tweak with no luck!
  4. Hi, guys! I have a Sapphire HD 7850, I want to unlock its voltage so I can push it to 1.3v I tried RBE but it seems that it can't recognize my bios saying it's not an ATI BIOS, I also tried Radeon HD 7000 BIOS Editor but it says voltage control is impossible as my card is non reference.I heard that asus dcii top bios unlocks voltage so I flashed it but it broke my card! So is there anyway to modify my Sapphire bios? This is my current bios:https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/138866/sapphire-hd7850-1024-130124-2 If anyone can modify it for me I will be grateful!
  5. Not here in EGYPT, maybe from eBay but shipping would cost me an arm and a leg! Yeah I agree with you, and yes 560 ti is faster "at launch" but as you said benchmarking old gpus is not accurate nowadays as it's probably done with old games and old drivers but as you may know AMD is well-known for its maturing drivers that's why I've asked about the performance in newer games especially that 7790 has a newer architecture than 560ti I think you're right, it seems that 7790 got some improvements through drivers. Thanks for all replies!
  6. Gtx470 for 55$ Gtx560ti, hd 7790 for 65$ I think I will go for the 7790
  7. Hi, guys! I'm looking to buy a used gpu and since I'm on tight budget, these two card are the best I can get! It seems that gtx 560 ti is somehow faster than 7790 but it's older and I don't know if 7790 would benefit from being newer architecture or not. Also there's Gtx 470 it's faster than both in TPU ranking and I can get it for cheap here but it looks ancient! what's your opinion, guys?
  8. Hi, guys! I have just built a legacy rig [asus p5q-e + Q9650 + 2x2GB 800MHz] But it's somehow slow! It takes a bit longer to boot I also get black screen hanging there before the welcome screen shows up and my mouse keeps freezing for a split second at intervalsalthough every setting in the BIOS is default/autoI noticed that my fsb to dram is 11:13 I don't know If that normal or not so I decided to underlock my ram to 667MHz so I can get 1:1 ratio and for some reason it's working like magic! My pc are now much faster especially at the boot and no more mouse freezingMy vcore also decreased from 1.152v to 1.032v (idle) in CPU-Z! And my temp decreased by ~5C at stock speed (idle) in core temp, real temp! Why that happend? is there a possibility that the dram auto setting delivers lower voltage than the ram requires @800 MHz causing instability or it's simply the 1:1 better for stability at these old platforms? Sorry for my English.
  9. Thanks! Uh, thanks for that important tip.
  10. Hi, guys! I got a little amount of the thermal paste on my cpu socket and I'm wondering if I can use ethanol alcohol 96% with a very soft brush for cleaning. I can't find isopropyl here in my city
  11. I don't know why did you point out to the motor but i think it has something to do with my problem as there are two things I forgot to mention. My HDD is unusually quiet like it's spinning slowly and it sometimes restart itself as if it loses the power after I turn it on. Maybe its board is damaged?
  12. Thanks for your swift reply. Unfortunately I got no restore point! I'll install windows on my new HDD so I can check my old one. But let's assume that OS is corrupted, is there any way to fix it? I don't want to install a fresh copy as I don't want to lose my programs data and settings.
  13. Hi, guys! My HDD won't bootup. It shows me "windows is loading files" then goes to windows repair even on safemode! that happend after I heard something like struggling heads sound inside the hdd for 2~3 seconds then windows was responding strangely and slow so I decided to force shutdown! (it was a stupid move) Then I decided to use windows installation cd to use cmd and make chkdsk C: .. The checking gave me a lot of "file record segment is unreadable" (I always run chkdsk and I never face that message before) so I decided to stop the process. I have checked my data via cmd using notepad files browsing method and all of my data are still there and all partitions are accessible! I bought a new HDD and I'm ready to clone it But I am afraid to try to clone it as that may cause more damage, right? I think I have to fix the old hdd first. Now, the question is: What does "file record segment is unreadable" mean and what usually cause it? How can I fix that!! Is my data corrupted? Uh I'm so confused and troubled!Another things to know *I did S.M.A.R.T using cmd and it stated that status is OK! *There's no any clicking sound when I power up that HDD. Sorry for my English and please help me.
  14. I just want to get a decent cooler so I can control the temperature of that 45nm chip. There's no reason why I'm looking at Cryorig particularly. It's just a preference but if there's any better option in my situation let me know plz. Here's a link to my local stores: http://www.egprices.com/en/category/computers/fans-cooling-systems
  15. In that comparison it's running on the stock speed 3.0GHz vs 3.8GHz i3 6300. IMO it provides an outstanding price/performance ratio
