  1. They just gave up without a fight... Because Nintendo 100% would've dragged this on, costing them way too much in legal fees. I went ahead and saved the latest version of Yuzu when this whole thing started. Considering it's open source, though.... Cut one head and 10 more will spawn from it. They will just be more careful about it.
  2. Who else falls asleep while watching the WANshow? I often listen to it late at night. I lay in my bed, earphones in and... I'm just soothed to sleep by Linus' voice. lol
  3. They already blocked news in Canada because of a stupid bill like that. Blocking news in Australia is nothing to them now that they've seen what happens. Yup, the news need facebook and all the eyes on it to survive. Facebook doesn't need the news to survive. News medias wanted to have their cake and eat it too.
  4. Could be worth it solely for the bent pins one. It's cheap while affording your a peace of mind. Though it looks like you're in the UK. There's much better consumer protection laws there. I don't know if retailers can refuse a return due to bent pins or not in your part of the world like they do in NA.
  5. That's hoarder mentality. You do NOT want to be thinking that. You're not using it. Sell it or give it away to someone you know that could use it. Like a younger sibling or cousin or whatever. Even if you do end up needing it, it likely will be years in the future. By then, the parts will be worth even less. It will be too late to sell them. At least if you sell them now, you'll get a relatively good return on your initial investment instead of letting it gather dust just for an "in case I need it".
  6. My first LTT video was some unboxing way back when he was still unboxing in the parking lot of NCIX in 2009. I first saw Linus in an NCIX video. I don't know which one exactly. But I do remember watching this one when it came out, so it's close to it
  7. It uses a VA panel The colors will be great, but expect black smearing around on moving things. Obviously, every monitors are different and it depends on the implementation... But it's still a VA panel in the end. I personally wouldn't touch those with a 10ft pole anymore after experiencing IPS. Some people say VA are fine at 60Hz and only starts to get garbo with higher refresh rate. Your mileage may vary. Dell usually makes good monitor. A video worth looking at:
  8. Neither. You'll often end up paying near the same price or more as you would ordering off amazon or some other store that sells pc parts, while taking the chance of either not getting your item or getting a knockoff. Buy used locally if you want to save a buck.
  9. Good for you getting that upgrade! CPUs can last a long time if you're not chasing 400fps in demanding games.
  10. Emulators have always been a grey area. I wonder what changed for Nintendo to decide to sue now... Surely they don't use anything made by Nintendo in their emulation. As long as Yuzu devs are not distributing it themselves, Nintendo shouldn't have a case on this... Officially, you have to source it from your own Switch. Yuzu is just a platform that exist. They don't distribute anything copyrighted by Nintendo. Nintendo is basically pointing at them saying "they are enabling this". But emulators have existed for a long time and surely there has been precedents in court before (probably from Nintendo) to say it's not infringing on anything because it's not actually using anything copyrighted. I'm guessing Nintendo lawyers are high on victory fume after suing and winning against a ROM site and a Switch hacker (Gary Bowser).
  11. I'm guessing you're on wifi? Last time I had such an issue, it's because my device couldn't handle the channel changing automatically randomly when there's interference. When you go in your router, do you have a specific channel set up or is the channel set on "auto" or something similar to that? Set it to a specific channel instead of auto. This setting entirely depends on your router, shouldn't be too different, change the channel from Auto to something else : Another setting is the one that links 2.4Ghz with 5Ghz if you have that. That one bugs out as well on some devices. Disable it and set a separate SSID for the two. Just connect to the 5Ghz band. That said, this is all if you're on wifi like I assumed. Could also just be the wifi card in the computer that's bugging out. If you're wired... Could be a driver issue. Or even a cable issue.
  12. You had an internal PCI-e wifi card. It no longer fits due to the GPU (and I'm guessing you have a mATX motherboard or something small like that). Now you want to replace that with a USB wifi dongle? Yes. Yes it will work. You're replacing one adapter by another. There's no issues with that.
  13. You don't just become a mod. You can't simply apply and hope to get the job. It's entirely unpaid. There's no "job" here. It's volunteer work. You need to be chosen to become a mod by the Gods. Basically : be active, be insightful, don't spam, respect the forum's CS... and maybe in 10 years they will consider you as a potential candidate to work as a slave for the good of the forum.
  14. Wait, you need to enable it in the bios? I've always just unplugged them without a care in the world and it worked just fine so far.
  15. Your upgrade path without needing to spend a lot of money, would be the 5800X3D for the CPU. If you go a step above, 7800X3D, that requires a new motherboard and new RAM as well. After that you can basically take any GPU you want that's better than what you currently have and your PSU is good enough for it (at least 850W for the higher end). Like, if you go with a 3080 as well as a 5800X3D, you can expect about 90fps on ultra settings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pik9x-C1-F0 Newer drivers in the future will probably increase that framerate a bit higher.
  16. Hahaha. It is what it is indeed. Did you reset your account? Pretty sure you had more than 25 posts before.
  17. That's why I also suggesting doing an OS backup with whatever software you prefer. By it Acronis, Veeam, Macrium, etc etc etc. Or if you have a secondary drive you could empty, to use it to install windows and see if it works. That way if it still happens, you can be back up and running to where to were a lot quicker.
  18. While I would also advocate for a clean install of Windows, to rule out possible issues in the future... You could also do what you thought to do and uninstall the AMD chipset drivers before upgrading. Windows is pretty good at figuring out a platform change these days (it might not be Activated anymore, tho'). Uninstalling the chipset drivers beforehand will at least help a lot to make the change smoother. If the motherboard supports BIOS flashback without a CPU, I would highly recommend checking how to do it. Then download the bios for it and place it on a flash drive ready to go for the flashback BEFORE doing the swap. Never know if the CPU will be supported out of the box by the motherboard these days. You don't want to have to put back all your other parts just to get the files.
  19. I have the same GPU. No issues on my side with the current driver. I would suggest running DDU and reinstalling fresh drivers to see if that helps. Don't forget to disable windows update's automatic driver install, too. (DDU has the option for this) If that doesn't help, there's a possibility the GPU is faulty. But lets not jump to conclusion and explore other troubleshooting path first. Like the last troubleshooting step which is doing a clean re-install of windows 11 using the ISO, RUFUS and a USB flash drive. Would highly recommend simply backing up the entire OS with your software of choice and if a reinstall didn't work, just restore everything. Or if you have another drive you can install windows on, unplug your current OS drive and keep it to the side while testing things out with the other drive on a clean install of windows.
  20. how does someone not have a bank card in this day and age... Obvious scam is obvious. If you're meeting in person, there's literally zero reason why they couldn't pay with cash. If they refuse to pay cash, it's because it is a scam.
  21. I went back to Cégep (pre-university/technical college) 4 years ago for a career change. I was taking classes with kids aged 18-20. More than a few had no clue how to get around on a windows computer even with written directives like "open the start menu, find X software and open it". One of them even asked me after class what a start menu was. I wish I was kidding. Yes they can "use" it. But they don't actually know anything about it. it's like they've never had a class where they teach the basics of a Windows computer like what the explorer window is, the system tray, the task bar, etc... Which might just be it. Even a paper test as simple as a screen shot that has little numbers next to each item and a separate page with a multiple choice list that you can link to numbers to say what each item is, would go a long way to educate them on this.
  22. That's crazy. AI will only ever get better and better, taking jobs away from people. Who needs fiver for a short video when you can just get an AI to make it even better. It's really unfortunate that no jobs are safe from AI and our robot overlords... Even the oldest job in the world won't be safe for long.
  23. Oh it absolutely is. It has been on a steady rise for a few months, when it had been creeping downward for a while. It's just going up up up with no signs of stopping. When Linus said a few months back to buy a SSD if you need one "now" and not wait on it... Well he wasn't wrong either.
