I pulled out some hardware from my mining rigs while doing some cleaning, left the AMD rigs alone and pulled 1 GPU out of each mining rig for Nvidia, I have a few bare systems laying around so i'll probably toss in 2 cards per system. Current stack is a 1080ti, 1070,1050ti,1060,970,780ti,770 that are currently all being put into systems for folding for a week.  Depending on how the weekend goes, i'll start messing around with software gettting the folding stuff setup.

ok so when is "folding week", give me some advanced notice, and as long as its not a pain in the ass to setup and run stable i will put every rig i have (32GPU's) on folding for 7 days.

My old ass X58 Xeon gets way better than 100fps 1080p cranked with a 1080ti in GTA5, or virtually any other title, so i agree his performance is poor, but i doubt its CPU bound yet, even though a 4ghz OC on a 4770K is pretty piss poor and not really much of an OC. Something is up with drivers or system for sure. a 2600K really is no better than a 4770K so the only upgrade path i would go is Zen2, or newer intel

Activision as a company might have gotten enough credits that it didnt pay taxes but that doesnt mean the ceos and workers dont.

    Same with amazon.

Amazon might not pay taxes as a business. But you can bet your ass that Bezos probably pays more in taxes then probably most of the users here combined.

Im not trying to kiss the rich peoples ass. But they pay the vast majority of taxes in the US. The bottom 50% of earners pay 3% while the top 50% pay 97%.

Poor people are not funding anything with their taxes basically. They rely on them much more then the rich. My boss pays legit thousands in property taxes that funds public schooling whole hes also paying thousands of years to send his kids to private school. Not to mention his taxes that are paying for medicaid, food stamps, public housing, etc that he obv doesnt use.

Like i said. Im not kissing rich peoples ass but to act like they arent basically paying for everything already is asinine and factually not true.

Today I was testing my office pc.
It is 9400F CPU with 16GB of 3200CL16 RAM and GTX 670 (temperary GPU) all running on Asus z170i Pro Gaming (YES it is possible) with intiel box cooler (temp CPU cooler)
All settings in BIOS on auto exept XMP.
Run Cinebench R15 on it - 960 points, all 6 cores run at 3.9gHz
To get the same score on x58 I had to put a massive cooler and run it at 4.2-4.3 gHz with fans at the full blast.

You might ask why I'm writing it here?
I think it is time to give up X58, unless you got the motherboard to start with.
I was thinking that i5's are not good CPU's compare to i7 in general, but even the lowest one of them almost beats X58 xeons and i7's

something seems wrong with that. My X5675 system with a 1080ti will run high refresh rate of over 120fps on ultra settings everything cranked, an will even do over 60fps on 4k gaming on high/ultra with most titles without issue. Im clocked around 4.6 on all cores daily. been a solid rig for the past year since i parted/sold my 4790k system.

Ok.. So the wait for the Corsair 275R was longer than expected, and the W3680 got help up in customs... But.. today they both arrived.

It's now up and running at stock speeds (3.46GHz), and everything seems to work perfectly fine. I'll more than likely replace the 212EVO with the MasterLiquid Pro 240 from my 775 system and get the overclocking going.

Something costing $5000 better have parts available to have it repaired. The cost of the iMac is comparable to a car and cars must have parts available to fix it, even if they have to be imported.

my delidded 4790k @ 5ghz 1.35V runs low 90's on IBT, and will run low/mid 80's with Aida64, and will virtually never go above 75*C while doing heavy every day workloads with room temps in the 22*C mark with an H100iV2, i run fans/pump at max anything over 65C. delidding is what made all the difference

Wow, 1.6V Vcore? I've managed booting 5 with 1.5 with my E5649 and best E5640 (that one did 5.577 with 1.7V). And yeah, for daily anything beyond 220 isn't really worth it, but for benching its fun...

FlatBrokeRacing reacted to ouroesa in MSI 1080ti Duke 11G Hot as
There is definitely something wrong. The weird thing is that your computer completely shuts down. Usually the cards will only throttle (1080ti do run warm, op to 90c) and then it will shut down if throttling is not enough. Maybe you can try reducing the voltage as much as possible and maybe even underclock it a little to get temps down then test it again and see if the PC still shuts down which would then point to another issue.

Also, make sure all the fans are running, silly but it does happen.

The fact is sometimes customer service > a small monetary loss. When you do these favors for a customer you make life long customers, but when you turn him away like you did then you not only cost yourself his business, but likely that of 2-3 other customers as well due to word of mouth.

The fact of the matter is there is very little downside for doing this and you are taking everything too personal when it is outside of your pay range. Hopefully you will learn from this and in the event that doesn't happen maybe your boss will find someone that is a better fit for this position.

Got the 60mm Serpent NB cooler today from Performance PC's, it was super simple to attach, just remove the stock heatsink (2 screws) from the copper heatpipe/block assembly on the motherboard, and then screw it in place using stock hardware and some MX4 thermal compound. So far gotta say i am impressed. I can touch the heatpipe setup and it is MUCH cooler while under load and overclocked. And well it has a red fan on it so hey i cant complain haha.

I also have one other cooler to try, its a 40mm setup that will fit alittle nicer (this one is about 7/16"-1/2" away from the GPU). I have another motherboard coming so i'll try a few different setups. I'd love to find a universal waterblock setup for this, but have no plans on spending the money on a custom loop for an old girl like this.
