  1. Context: This PC (not mine) is a desktop Ryzen system with the integrated graphics card (G series chip), 16GB of RAM and 2 drives: an SSD and a hard drive. Windows 10 is installed. It was working normally before Problem: when the PC posts (fan spinning and everything), after the initial AsRock motherboard message is displayed, there is nothing, total black screen, and after a while the monitor shuts down because it has no input. I tried getting into the boot menu and selecting to boot from Windows Boot Manager. The Windows logo briefly appeared, but then it was total black again. :( I think it has something to do with boot / OS problems ....
  2. I just downloaded mpv media player and it worked perfectly. No need to upgrade the hardware, it was just trash software...
  3. My laptop with Core i7 4650U does fine with 1080p x265 but has the same issue with 4K x265
  4. I have a Linux system hooked up to a TV that I would like to use exclusively to watch movies. (Intel Core i3 550, 4 GB DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce 315) When I try to play with VLC a 4K x265 movie I get lag and grey squares all over the place. Even the audio isn't working properly. How can I fix it? Thank you for your time, Pietro from Italy P.S. I even take suggestions that involve using another media player instead, but it needs to run on linux and have all of the basics VLC functionalities (subtitles, multiple audio, mkv files...)
  5. I have a super-old system with 2 corrupted hard drives that i want to analyze with SystemRescueCD to recover some data. The problem is that the Linux distro that i want to use is on a USB stick and I don't know if the motherboard of the system (ASUS M2V-MX SE) supports live boot via USB; and even if this stuff is supported I don't know the right key to press to access some kind of BIOS/boot options menu. Please help!
  6. I am looking for the right switch for my new keyboard, and because I never used a mechanical one and I don't have a way to test a bunch of them I'm asking here. I will be using it for gaming and typing. I type at 60wpm with a 90% accuracy rate on my MacBook Air keyboard. I usually like to press the keys until the very bottom and I don't care about the noise, but I would prefer it to be not too loud
  7. I think that an informational video about this operating system would be pretty cool. It's a Linux distribution based on Fedora created by the North Korean government and it's used in all computers connected to their intranet. The government wants to track the underground market of USB flash drives used to exchange foreign films, music and writing, so the system watermarks all files on portable media attached to computers. 8. I am planning to use my gaming rig (I have a 1080Ti) to do some mining. I have been warned that I would be using extra power on components you don't need for mining, but I just don't care, simply because where I live power is extremely cheap. What I'm worried about is leaving my GPU at full load 24/7: Will this reduce significantly the lifespan of my GPU? Will it have more probability of failing? Since this is my main rig I'm also concerned about doing stuff with it...If I mine with it (and then I have my GPU at full load all the time) will I still be able to do non-GPU-intensive tasks such as browsing the web or document editing? And then there's gaming: I usually game during the evening for 2 hours, so if I plan to shut down mining during the time I play a game (and that puts work on the GPU as well) and then turn on mining as soon as I finish, would It be such a big deal for the lifespan of my GPU? I have been warned about the thermal cycles... Thanks for your help, sorry for the English but I'm Italian!
  9. I am wondering if this specific kit of RAM (CMU16GX4M2C3200C16R, 16 GB, 2 x 8 GB, DDR4, 3200 MHz) will be compatible out of the box with my motherboard (ASRock AB350 gaming-itx/AC) and my CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 1600). The AMD "am4-motherboard-memory-support-list-en_0.pdf" doesn't list this kits but I need to be absolutely sure that it will be running with no problems and stable with no performance issues...
  10. Can I verify that the system posts with Ryzen and start doing the build even if I don't have a GPU yet? Also will I be able to output to a display and check the BIOS ?
  11. Yea I know, but I plan to use just 1 bay
  12. Oooooh now I got it, so it should work perfectly!
