  1. It's the own brand of a UK electronics chain store called Maplins. It's not on the compatibility list for anything, but the guy at the store said he uses it his build with an MSI board. Dunno if he just said that to sell it to me or if it's true. But that still doesn't explain why the CPU light is illuminated.
  2. I've just built a new PC, with the MSI B350 PC mate motherboard. But, the EZ debug lights for the CPU and DRAM are lit. I can't reset the BIOS because I don't have a jumper. specs: AMD Ryzen 3 1200 Hypertec 8GB DDR4 2133mhz MSI B350 PC Mate Asus GeForce GTX 1060 3GB EVGA 600W 80+ PSU
  3. I managed to trace my problems back to one of the sticks of RAM malfunctioning. Wish i could trace all my life's problems back to something that simple tbh
  4. Aw poop ?? Im building a new rig for Christmas but hotdamn 13 days is still a long time. Are you sure the CMOS is 100% linked to the black screen and freezing issues?
  5. So I need a new CMOS? And that'll fix it all? im stuck on mobile so if you've written anything more I can't read it unfortunately ?
  6. So I recently updated my PC to the latest version of Windowz 10, as well as updating my graphics drivers to the latest version. Since then, I've had nothing but absolute hell dealing with this PC. first of all, the time is never saved on the CMOS It now does 1 of 3 things: 1.) This is the most common, and frustrating. It will start up, and be extremely laggy and every time something happens on screen, the screen will go blank for about 20 seconds. This makes it impossible to log on. 2.) The PC will start up, only recognise 4gb of RAM, and be laggy and sometimes the screen will go black as it does in the previous problem. 3.) It will work normally with only some lag, but only read 4GB of ram. Oh yeah, and the CMOS never saves the time. It requires me to reset it every time I turn it on. my specs are: AMD FX 6300 ASrock 980DE3/u3s3 8gb Kingston Hyper X fury ddr3 1866mhz ram Sapphire Radeon R7 370 2GB dual-x EVGA 600w 80+ power supply. Please help, preferably without reinstalling Windows. I am approaching exams and need the PC to revise.
  7. Also the BIOS said the RAM was in single channel mode
  8. Just re-seated the RAM: PC now absolutely refusing to POST.
  9. Actually I'm pretty sure my BIOS is out of date, you think that could be it?
  10. There's nothing particularly abnormal about my setup, and it happens in the middle of use. it still says 8GB installed but 4GB usable, and GTA V is running at 18FPS so it's right. it just confuses me, why does this happen out of nowhere, as what is using all that RAM? And re-seating my RAM is frustrating too, because afterwards my PC will refuse to post until it feels like it.
  11. I've tried cleaning the slots, but normally they work fine after re seating without cleaning.
  12. The thing is, this happens on and off every month, and is temporarlily fixed by re-seating the RAM. I don't think the problem is with the sticks
  13. I've checked with the Motherboard manual and yes, they are. if it helps, I have an Asrock 980DE3/U3S3 motherboard and 8GB of Kingston Hyper X Fury DDR3
  14. No, it's Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
