i checked on it... the protection list looks impressive, but because there are no reviews from what i can find, and that it doesn't supply full wattage on the 12v rail, I'd choose something else.

That's less than 4K. A GTX 1080 Ti can handle that "well"

And the answer was it depends on the time you were considering it and how much you were willing to put up with either side's quirks. The first implementation of CrossFire required a Master CrossFire card, you couldn't do it with just any card. AMD did away with that later and opened up CrossFire so it was possible to do it on more systems than SLI. SLI's problem at first was it needed nForce boards, then whatever chipset NVIDIA decided was worthwhile to license it on.

There were also more complaints on microstuttering CrossFire than SLI. Or at least, it was bad enough AMD specifically addressed it.

When I get those problems I always do this:
1- Take off any overclocks you  have (cpu + gpu + ram)
2- Download and Install DDU, deinstall all drivers, reboot pc, download the drivers from the Nvidia website and reinstall them.
3- Search on TechPowerup for a new "vga bios" (if you google vga bios, you'll find the site). Check with GPU-z if the version shown on the site is newer than the one the gpu is running... If not, I flash the new bios onto the card with nvflash64.
4- Still problems? I take the card out of the system... Give it a good cleanup with compressed air (and with older cards I change the thermal paste, but this is a 970 so it is most likely not needed).
5- Cry a lot a look up if there's still a warranty of some kind.

These below were all developed by Hitachi

Super TFT (IPS) - 1996 Wide viewing angle 100/100 Base level Most panels also support true 8-bit per channel color. These improvements came at the cost of a slower response time, initially about 50 ms. IPS panels were also extremely expensive.

Super-IPS (S-IPS) - 1998 has all the benefits of IPS technology with the addition of improved pixel refresh timing.

Advanced Super-IPS (AS-IPS) - 2002 Improves substantially on the contrast ratio of traditional S-IPS panels to the point where they are second only to some S-PVAs.

IPS-Provectus (IPS-Pro) - 2004 The latest panel from IPS Alpha Technology with a wider color gamut and contrast ratio matching PVA and ASV displays without off-angle glowing.

IPS alpha (IPS-Pro) - 2008 High contrast ratio Next generation of IPS-Pro

IPS alpha next gen (IPS-Pro) - 2010 High contrast ratio Technology transfer from Hitachi to Panasonic

These below were all developed by LG

Horizontal IPS (H-IPS) - 2007 Improves contrast ratio by twisting electrode plane layout. Also introduces an optional Advanced True White polarizing film from NEC, to make white look more natural. This is used in professional/photography LCDs.

Enhanced IPS (E-IPS) - 2009 Wider aperture for light transmission, enabling the use of lower-power, cheaper backlights. Improves diagonal viewing angle and further reduce response time to 5ms.

Professional IPS (P-IPS) - 2010 Offer 1.07 billion colours. More possible orientations per sub-pixel (1024 as opposed to 256) and produces a better true colour depth.

Advanced High Performance IPS (AH-IPS) - 2011 Improved colour accuracy, increased resolution and PPI, and greater light transmission for lower power consumption

    No, it makes perfect sense.
Its the same shit in every area.
There are some people (like you), who try 'the other side' but are never ever really happy with it because they are looking for trouble with them.

And that seems the case for you.
Why else wouldn't you RMA the RAM?!

    No, they ain't...
You still have to look at the manual to look at what slots you have to use for the system to boot at all.

That's false information you are spreading right now.

No, it depends on the Board, how good the designer was and how many layers the board has. There are some more expensive boards that allow higher memory clocks than other, cheaper ones.

And also you need Memory that runs well with Ryzen - wich you didn't get because you didn't do your research well enough for Ryzen.

That's the only thing you can really do wrong -> choosing the wrong memory. And you did that.

Because Ryzen is new and does somethings different.
And the old games are not made to run well on Ryzen, they don't even know about it.
If you have two threads, one on one CCX and the other on the other one, do you believe the Performance will be good?
    No it won't...
And that is one of the Problems Ryzen has...

You can try to pin the Threads of the games to certain cores, that might work as well...
Your statement shows, that you never ever had a PC before the Windows 95 area and know about what you have to do to make a game to run.
If you want it to just work, why haven't you gotten an XBox?? Or a Playstation 4??
There you can expect 0 Problems with the Hardware because there is no variance - OK; some (old) games might crash on PS4 PRO with Boost Mode, so that might be too much hassle for you.

You bought a new Plattform and didn't expect any bugs with it?
Do I have to say more??
If you want it to just work, why not wait a Month or two??

And now you know that the QVL was there for a reason.
You also could have looked up other QVL Lists of other manufacturers, to possibly get a Kit that you yould afford.

Besides that, the official specifications for Ryzen is 2666MHz -> http://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-7-1700x

But that's not the point. The point is that 3200MHz is very tricky on the engineering level, to get the timing right and that is also the reason why some chips run like shit on ryzen and some run really really well on ryzen.

And I don't understand why you don't just replace the memory to something that is know good for Ryzen. Why you instead want to replace the Motherboard and CPU, instead of just the Memory.

It is entirely possible that the memory is the Problem you have and messes up your system, so why not replace it??

why not just try new memory with Samsung B-Die??

Here a List of possible RAM Kits:
    And here something in German:

Thank you, that's also my impression.

That's also what I am suspecting and mentioned why he didn't at least RMA his RAM or tried a different module...
That's what Warranty is kinda for...
    But now its kinda late...

...and here we are at the point of one can do no wrong, others can do no right...

Yeah, Ryzen is a very good CPU, especially if you keep in mind how little money/resources AMD had to develop it!

And the sad thing, if you compare Bulldozer with other CPUs of the time with games from today, Bulldozer performs really well and beats most of it.
If you compare it to other CPUs that were priced similarly (wich means i3-3k and i5-3k Series), Bulldozer comes out on top many times....

But at the time - around 5 Years ago -, really well multithreaded software was rare...

It is a hell of a year in the pc world. Before you realise what that new product is, something else came out right after. Forced releases from intel due to a comeback (1 year) since a long while from AMD. A online currency psyche hype, the newest cpu's out faster than ever with more cores than ever for the consumer world. People are jumping around happily buying all their goodies. Praising the year of the PC world 2017. Now is the time to upgrade they say, but is it? Is it really a great year? I mean it sure is and I was about to upgrade to a total new system. Hooray for me cause its the year everything went nuts. Indeed.....nuts. Where I was happy (still am as nerd) to get ready and wait out this year from 2017 February to summer and build a nice system. But wait what happened so many...choices and price shifts new architecture faster releases...instead...this really sucks (if you wanna build right now) its a year of breakthroughs (consumer wise not technically) and next season the battle shall continue. I know that you could like "wait forever" to build a system. But personally I think it is the right time to wait indeed! What's next? And who waited with me? Ready for summit/pinnacle? Volta? More releases from Intel? How will the new APU from intel/amd come to its right (side thing). Will the current gen drop prices really fast? What do you think?

I think, intel screwed us long enough for years while I dream about a 8700k build for the heck of it. And I hope AMD can drop back into the market where they belong with a strong ST cycle. Will the new age of apps and games have a way better compromise with the huge threaded cpu's that have been released? As in some games and apps more cores at lower clock speed see a strong result equal to a high single thread performance ask. Will windows 10 ever feel like win 7(lol)? It is a pain in the ass to not build right now, just like the X versions intel released, But I am really enjoying all of this year. Monitors dont price well with the rest of the builds sadly. I wish they shift us up and away from 1080p 1900's stuff.

The thing about buying different RAM is you really won't know what will happen until you install it, it may work with no issues, it may work with issues and then it may not work at all.

Goildzy reacted to porina in Advice for overclocking a 8700k
Personally, I use hwinfo64 to look at temperatures of each core while overclocking. I also find it easier to use Intel XTU to overclock in Windows than the more traditional bios approach. I find it easier to fix all cores at the same clock. Increase multiplier for speed, increase voltage for stability, stop when your temperatures under load are too much. I don't know what a 24/7 safe voltage is but I wouldn't stay above 1.40v.

The U12S may be the limiting factor here. I'm using a D15 on 8350k and that's great. At +275mV offset (all my mobo allows) that gives around a reported 1.4v, and it seems stable in everything except Prime95, where from memory I have to use AVX offset to drop it to 4.7 GHz. Based on few reports out there, a bad sample of Coffee Lake might only reach 4.8, typical around 5.0, a really good one (without extreme cooling) 5.2.

Also note there is a big difference between turbo to 4.7 (single core), and overclocking all cores to 4.7.
