  1. That's why I'm sort of leaning towards that Streacom DA2. It's considered high quality and I already spoke with a distributor and know that I could hypothetically receive it tomorrow! Maybe I should sleep on it! hahah
  2. Any word on their quality? It looks AMAZING but I heard that some people were running into RMA issues with the cases arriving damaged, improperly manufactured, etc - not an issue of the business itself, but the manufacturer
  3. I heard that they had some quality issues (Reddit). Do you know if they figured this out?
  4. Hey everyone! I've been PC-less for about a year now (using a gaming laptop at the moment) and looking to build an extremely small PC for gaming and some financial work. I am torn between these choices. Can't seem to secure an M1 so here we go! Please drop a "why" section if you would!
  5. No problem! Should still be able to order it from said site. I'd also try the local computer stores! Let us know if you need anything else!
  6. If the issues do not occur while plugged in, temperatures are decent, and only seem to occur at the same battery level, then I believe the issue to be the battery. Fortunately, as this machine is not a tightly built ultra-book, accessing the battery should not be extremely difficult. If you're feeling up to it, you may consider just purchasing another battery. A quick Google search brought me here: http://www.acerlaptopbattery.co.uk/acer-aspire-e5-475g-battery.htm
  7. There is a decent chance that the battery is faulty. Fortunately the machine isn't that old. Did you buy a protection/warranty plan? Are you still under manufacturer warranty?
  8. I'd like to second @WoodenMarker. I have nothing else to add to his post I am doing well though! I hope you are as well! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
  9. Is it still shutting down? And yes I would give that a try seeing as many other things have been tried. If you have another PSU to try, give that a go. Doesn't seem like the issue, but more times than one I have seen PSUs do weird things in desktops, power regulators in laptops, and battery issues in smartphones.
  10. Correct! It can certainly help us lead to knowing if we are dealing with a PSU concern though
  11. THAT is unusual. I would reset the PC and see what happens. Please let us know if that works. I have a weird feeling that something driver related or key-combination or maybe something on the board is triggering a "false-shutdown".
  12. I don't think so. See my reply to your latest post.
  13. Hmm, I am rather surprised. Fire up ASUSRealBench and run a stress test for 15 minutes using half of your RAM. Report back if it crashes. When it does crash/turn off, does it just blackscreen and reboot? Or is it like the normal shut down sequence when you get the spinning wheel when its a proper shut down procedure?
  14. So you do not see anything called Error 41?
  15. go to windows event viewer. See what the error was at the time that it occurred. Was it an Error 41?
  16. Hello everyone! I have a weird idea and it may have already been presented. I’m interested in purchasing a vive for use as a monitor. Basically, I want my gaming experience to be as immersive as possible but also still use a keyboard and mouse. Could I use a Vive for a screen?
  17. Go back into BIOS and hit the restore to default settings option. Load up everything and see if it works and report back
  18. Depends on what voltages you're putting through it. An i7 8700k with a manual vcore of 1.2 will last longer than an i7 8700k with a manual vcore of 1.4 (ON PAPER). Everyone's experience varies a little bit, though in general, the more voltage you apply, the shorter the life span. The second major detractor from CPU life is temperature. Here's an article on such: https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Impact-of-Temperature-on-Intel-CPU-Performance-606/ Ultimately, if you're running your overclockable chip at "appropriate voltages and temperatures" (varies for each situation and person, but I like to generally keep chip below 85c for extended use and peak loads and keep voltage as low as it can be while remaining stable) you'll get plenty of life out of the chip! As for the specific years, I can't really say. There are so many factors or "moving parts" in that equation that I cannot give you a concrete answer. Certainly not a major life difference however! I hope that helps!
  19. Oh pshh those are great temps!! I have an i7 8700k at 1.13vcore and 4.5ghz and will hit 80c after 100% load for like 10 minutes. Not worried there. GPU will peak at 78c after intensive loads. No worries there either. You're getting great temps friend! I'm really glad to hear that you're enjoying your build AND with great temperatures (with all items considered)
  20. Awesome! Good to see and hear that everything is good! Make sure to get some temps at peak load
  21. This may not be the issue, but do you have another PSU to test the system with?
  22. Shouldn't. If it does, if it does, it won't be worth worrying about. Neither component is very "out of this world". Wouldn't worry about it
  23. Aw man, that's no fun. This is one of those cases where that Apple insurance really comes in handy! Hindsight is always 20/20 though.. Your best bet is to try and extract as much as you can from it (data-wise) and then try and find a 3rd party repair company that would be able to fix it. Otherwise you can go the Apple route. However, at this point, may as well buy an entirely new one and see if they'll transfer the data for you. OR get a more powerful PC laptop that costs as much as (or even less) than the cost for repair. I get the part about Apple exclusive software. Your only real options are a 3rd party repair service or Apple's own repair. I'd also recommend a keyboard cover for next time. You live and you learn! I hope that helps a little bit!!
