  1. Greetings, My son put together a new rig using an ASUS Maximus X Formula, 8700K I7. Issue is that computer locks up randomly after use. In order to recover we have to re-flash the bios. Whats been done so far: 1) All drivers are up to date. Bios is the most current. Problem exists with previous version as well as the latest one. 2) Memory is corsair Vengeance LPX 33GB DDR4 2400MhZ (PC4-19200 C14) 2) Memory has been checked and double checked with windows mem checker and Memtest 86 3) Computer is all new. Power Supply is Seasonic Ultra 850W 4) OS is Windows Pro 64 Bit. 5) System is NOT overclocked. It will be eventually but we are the most stable settings. 6) Used the Mem button to let the motherboard find the best settings for the memory. 7) System is running a Noctua CPU fan. Temps are spot on as measured with laser temp and on board. Any ideas would be apperciated. Currently thinking the MB is broke but still open to suggestions.
  2. Thanks for the replies so far....Monitors are not an issue either. I am running a X34 center and just got 2 Acer XB1 (1440) G-Syncs on the out board that way I can keep the 1440 across all three.....I see a number of replies discussing AMD's new chip....still not sure if I want to leave Intel but would consider it.
  3. Greetings... 1. Budget & Location Budget is open...looking at extreme and high end builds if that helps....I am located in Mount Airy MD USA 2. Aim Computer will be used for gaming and I want to be blown away....play a number of games from World of Warships, Star Trek Online and a number of first person shooters, Running Adobe suite of products and working in Photoshop, Audition and other applications. This is also the computer I use day to day...so include web browsing etc. Thinking about getting into some CAD and 3D modeling. I have also been using ASUS MB's in my last 3 builds. I currently have a ASUS Rampage Extreme V with an Intel i7 5820K XPU at 3.3Ghz, Memory currently is G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 64GB (8 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM 2400 and I can either reuse or use something better....I am also considering liquid cooling...but that is also an option. Overclocking....good question....as it would seem logical it is not really a priority. A little bit is fine...but not at the cost of stability. 3. Monitors Currently running 3 monitors - looking to change the outboards to something that will better compliment the center (X34). So I want to 1440 on either end (even considered 3 X34's but in the end think 27's or 28's would be better...as long as the match up to the center one. I am currently using 2 EVGA GTX1080's in SLI. 4. Peripherals So I am set with the keyboard and mouse. I am using a Sound Blaster ZxR card as want great audio. If I have to loose that in order to go to 3 SLI so be it. 5. Why are you upgrading? Simply....because I can. Besides that I want to update my wife's machine so I will build hers with left over pieces and parts from this upgrade. Thanks for the input (hopefully)!!!
  4. Greetings, I am currently running 3 ACER monitors with the X34 being the center. I have to the left a XB280HK (4k) and to the right a XB270HU. Initially I was going to use 3 X34's but after seeing the video of the set up on Linustechtips Youtube I want to scale it down to 2 1440 displays (one on each end) and use the 4K and 1080 displays as spares. So in the end I would like a 1440/X34/1440. Now the question....I am looking for a 27 or 28 1440 monitor and would love to have it curved and zero frame....I could also just get a second X34...but I am used to the 3 monitor set up....Video Cards - 2 GTX1080's in SLI. Any recommendations as to which monitors I should get? Thanks
