GOTSpectrum reacted to da na in Is Intel just better at naming things?
Oh that's a solid one too.
AMD went hard on the edgy marketing around the 2010s.

I'd argue the opposite actually. Ryzen and EPYC sound pretty damn cool when compared to..... Core.
Go back further and you've got stuff like Turion Ultra ZM-80 - the whole Turion line was awful but the name sure sounded badass! AMD's last uncool processor was the K6, since then all their chips have sounded pretty rad.
Intel's names have been awful for a while. Core 2 Duo naming scheme was very reasonable. P, T (rarely U or E) prefix to signify generation and socket, 4 digit number for clockspeed, FSB, and cache. First few i series generations were reasonably named but it went downhill fast.

Like, just generally, Intel stuff just sounds cooler and then the AMD equivalent is kinda just bland. And then they don't go overboard like asus or msi or whoever. i just really like their names.

I am very happy, I have hit the top 10. I don't know as I will keep it for long or ever again, but I have made it at least once.

GOTSpectrum reacted to Senzelian in The US Department of Justice accuses Apple of having an illegal monopoly over smartphones
By definition, they don't have a monopoly, neither in hardware nor software. But can we just agree that they're assholes? There should be an anti-asshole law.

but it isnt necessarily a monopoly in smartphones, that will never go anywhere in court. they have a monopoly in software. they restrict others from using their software, while restrict other software from running on their devices. I'm not sure the exact legalese on that, but that is the problem.

Interesting dynamic in other countries when reading how the smartphone ecosystems work in the US, Japan and Korea. Segmented (in Apple's favor), prestige and socially not even accepted amongst younger generation if you don't have an iPhone.
Where as in Europe everyone uses 3rd parties. Whatsapp, Signal, Instagram, Messenger and Snapchat for most of people's communication.

Oh, the world would just need to adapt to meet the needs of this technology. Readers at 6 feet off the ground.
Actually with my height, a vulva piercing would be at just the right level for a reader at door-handle level...

The truth is simply, we have two ears, you only need two sources(for headphones)
With the right processing and information it's pretty easy to trick your ears tbh

In the process of replacing my motherboard so I can give my old Ryzen 1700, 16GB RAM, 650W PSU and gtx 1080 to my friends kid. Also got a spare sub 1080p screen they'll use until the friend can grab a more modern screen. (Going to be building this into a system for them, with them providing the left over stuff)
Anyway... I'm quite happy with this paste application

Here is a demonstration of the effect of binning on efficiency.
The 4070 Ti Super and 4080 Super are both based on the AD103 die. The 4070 ti super at the bottom of the stack and the 4080 Super at the top. Both working on p18220 we see Yields of 14.5 vs. 17.2MPPD:
So here's the kicker:
The 4080 Super is drawing less power while running at a lower clock speed and is still out-performing the 4070 ti Super.
