Now that I bought my first console, a PS3, I joined a society of morons, called console players. Let me explain why I feel this way but before I do, let me also add that there are exceptions of course: not all console players are bad and toxic, some are quite nice indeed. 
 
I got my PS3 a few days ago and I joined several 'Console' discord servers. Well, I started asking questions politely about PS3 because I'm new to consoles in general and what did I get? Nothing but a massive scolding. I was scolded. Instead of helping, they kept telling me to get a PS4: "why didn't you get a PS4 noob it's 2018, ps4 is much better and has exclusive content blablabla, why don't you get an Xbox it's better than PS, etc. You can imagine...
 
They also asked why I chose PS3 over anything else. Here's why: because, first off, the online features are free - no paid service is required to play online as opposed to PS4 where you need PSN+ that costs somewhere between 30 and 60 US dollars yearly. It varies based on sales or something. Not to mention I'm far from rich, I'm broke as hell. Second of all, the only game I'm planning to ever play on my PS3 is GTA V Singleplayer AND GTA Online, nothing else. Now a lot of people cringed when I said this - they asked why I'd choose a shittier version of GTA - because "next gen is much better, it has more content, fewer bugs, better graphics, not as many modders, etc". I totally understand, they tried to help me, they tried to get me a better deal, which I greatly appreciate. I told them that I had played GTA Online on PS3 before at my friend's apartment and I loved it better than next-gen - even  though I was killed and caged by modders, lmao. (I have also played GTA Online on PC for years. I know what next-gen is like). Yet they kept repeating themselves "why not get a PS4 to enjoy next-gen experience?". No, sorry, I don't want to enjoy the next-gen version, I don't need flying bikes (oppressor or whatever the hell it is called), I don't need offices with bunkers just to run errands across the map and get killed by angry 12 year olds on the way, I don't need dumb vehicles that don't fit GTA V's theme (for example that futuristic tank) at all. I don't want to grind all day and buy shark cards  for $70 just to be able to buy an office and a yacht. I just don't need that. In my opinion, Rockstar messed it up. Not in terms of business because I'm pretty sure they get still get positive profit out of it. I think they ruined the game's theme with these dumb updates. Maybe my arguments don't make sense because I only mentioned the downsides of next-gen GTA Online and I do know PS3 GTA Online has its downsides too...I still prefer that one to the next-gen.
 
To summarize, I don't like their attitude. Why do they give a sh*t whether I use PS3 or PS4, or ... Xbox? I mean it's cool they try to inform me about possibly better products, really cool but when they can't stop talking about it - it just gets frustrating. Like, I got it, you have a PS4, enjoy it then and no I won't get a PS4, leave me alone with that nonsense.

Is it safe to update, the console will verify the download before it installs.
As long as the console is factory reset the parental control is disabled.

1) Why wouldn't it be?
2) If the console isn't factory reset, use the "Restore PS3 System" option.

I won't bother covering the update as others have already covered it.
 
You can do a full reset on any PS3 by using recovery mode
 

To play GTA online, you need an online account, and whatever Playstation's version of Xbox live is.

I used to play it years ago. Unfortunately, I don't have the game anymore but as far as I know they have not changed anything with regards to online playability on the PS3.

Problem:
I've got a "Genius 5.1 HW 6000" speaker system and it has always worked flawlessly....right until now. At the moment none of the bass redirects itself (as it should) to the subwoofer. So there's basically no bass during audio/video playback and even gaming. So I instantly thought there might be an issue with the speakers so I did a Windows & Realtek Audio driver test and the bass worked correctly while testing...so that indicates that it's a windows error.
 
Things I've tried:
- applied stock default settings on audio driver panels
- reinstalled all audio drivers
- tried different surround modes such as 2.1, 4.0, 7.1 none worked
- made sure the "bass redirection" and "subwoofer gain" options are ticked in Sound Blaster X-Fi panel
- made sure 5.1 options were selected everywhere
- plugged the speakers in and out and made sure cables go to the right spot
- tried different browers (coz there's no bass during videos)
- tried 5 different media players including windows media player as well
- tried all possible VLC player audio output modules none worked so it's not a media player error either
 
My system/specs:
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z97X Gaming 7 with on-board Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3
Audio programs (drivers I think): Realtek HD Audio Manager, Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3, some audio shits from GeForce and Intel
OS: Windows 7 x64 Ultimate build 7601 ENG with 200+ Windows Updates installed
 
So again, there's no hardware error here 100% sure because I ran multiple tests and the bass works just fine individually but when some program plays sound the bass does not get redirected to the sub so there's no bass at all even though I cranked it up to the fullest.

No. I believe PS3 used APU's. The CPU and GPU are on a single chip and they are soldered to the PCB. 
EDIT: This doesn't change the answer of no, but the PS3 uses a separate CPU and GPU, they are both soldered components though. I was thinking of AMD's Jaguar architecture being used on current generation consoles.

No, there is no modern mainstream console that you can upgrade either CPU or GPU.

Console hardware is typically proprietary (even if they are based off designs for PC applications) and so is the software they run. So you're never going to find hardware upgrades and drivers. The only exception is storage as consoles that do have storage drives will use the IDE or SATA standards.

Damn, you seem to know it all, dog. I love you. I've been searching the net for eternity to find out what exactly svchost does. 

svchost.exe is a platform/foundation of sorts that a program can register to to become a service. Basically, making a Windows Service has a lot of challenges, mostly security, power consumption (consider Windows powered tablets and laptops), and also needs lots of requirements.The service svchost provide that foundation for simple services, where only basic tasks are needed. Windows itself uses it for many things. That is why you have you have sooo many svchost.exe. And in fact, Windows 8.1 and older OSs, some of them regroups several services. Since Windows 10 version 1703, if you have the RAM, Windows won't regroup anymore.. so now you have even more svchost.exe that appears in the Task manager. The purpose of that, is that it allows you to identify exactly which service has a memory leak, or consuming CPU like crazy, and you can better troubleshoot the problem. It also adds even more security, as a compromised service within a group can no longer be an open door to attack another service o that group with ease. It also allows to restart a specific service (say it crashes), without affecting other services within the group.
 
So while in 10, the Task Manager under "Processes" tell you with a nice name, which svchost.exe is, like so:

 
In your case, under Windows 7, you need to show the column "Command Line", under the Detail pane, and see, based on that, what the service(s) possibly is. Also, it is an easy way to know if you don't have malware that is called svchost.exe, but isn't the real one under system32. 
 
To show the Command Line column, simply, under the Details tab, right-click on the columns headers section, and pick "Select Column", a small panel will open, inside it, check the box called "Command Line", and pick OK. It will now be displayed.
