I was preparing a system to give to a friend. I was testing the system with a gt 640 and it was working perfectly, then I switched in the graphics card that I was going to give him, a his hd 6770. When i turned the system on, the computer power button flashed 3 times before finally turning on. I wasn't getting any output to my monitors but I could tell windows was loading from the hard drive noises. Eventually the graphics card driver was loaded and I got an image, but it was stuck in a 640x480 resolution with no options to change it. I then installed catalyst control center and the newest driver and still nothing. I put the graphics card in a system using an lga 775 board and experienced the same issue. I finally put the card in my personal system, a lga 1150 computer, and it booted fine.
I did the same thing a hd 7570 with the same effect. Only this time, the power button flashed only once, The rest was the same: low resolution, lengthy time before an image showed up, and it didn't work in the two older systems but worked fine in my rig.
Does anyone have suggestions as to why this is happening and how I can fix this?
