  1. And yes technically positive/negative is irrelevant for power/reset switches, but if you can clearly see a certain direction, you should do that
  2. HD Audio has a missing pin that should only let it be inserted one way. The front i/o cables should indicate which lead is positive. Refer to the motherboard manual to see which pin is positive.
  3. Also both the cpu and mobo should still be under warranty so once I know for sure which the problem is I can get rma. I might take it to a local shop later to see if they have another cpu i could put in to see what happens.
  4. I haven't checked them in a few months with last stress test but I think they've only ever got up to around 80. I know it has never reached 90 before while testing.
  5. Overclocked to 4.2 GHz with hyper 212 evo. It's been stable for months with games like Cities: Skylines and Fallout 4.
  6. I built this system 6 months ago and its been working fine until yesterday when The PC suddenly blue screened. The code was CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT. Now the PC gets stuck in a boot loop, no post or bios. I'll give my specs and every troubleshooting step I've done so far. Specs: i5 6600k (4.2 GZ) gigabyte z170xp-sli gtx 1070 8gb ram 600w psu Troubleshooting steps I've taken: Clear CMOS Remove CMOS battery and replace Use another PSU Unplug all drives, pcie cards, rgb lights, fans (except cpu fan), and every external device Use one stick of ram in different slots Use no ram (pc does not shut off when doing this, i get long continuous beeps, which is normal) Remove CPU Reseat CPU/reapply tim. Because of these steps, I am 99% sure that the problem is CPU or MOBO, which is why I'm posting here. Thank you for any advice.
  7. Is cpu power plugged in? I know it’s basic but it gets overlooked sometimes
  8. System turns off before post. Cannot get to bios
  9. The system doesn’t even post. It’s not a problem with windows atm
  10. I was playing I am bread (lmao it was on sale) and my pc suddenly blue screened. The code was CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT. The blue screen was stuck at 0% for a while so I hard shut down the pc. I rebooted it and went into the bios to see if I noticed anything wrong, didn’t see anything, just regular overclock. I exited bios and pc started power cycling. Cleared CMOS, still power cycling. Please help. Specs if needed: i5 6600k (4.2 OC) gtx 1070 8gb ram Update: ive unplugged every usb device, every pcie device, and moved the ram to alternate slots, still same problem. Update 2: with no ram installed, the pc does not turn off and I get a continuous series of long beeps, which is normal and should mean that cpu, mobo, and psu are not dead. With one stick of ram, the pc continues to power cycle. Update 3: I paper clip tested the psu, it worked. I swapped out psu for another one I had laying around, the pc still power cycles with no post
  11. I think if I partition the drive with a 1TB section and a 240GB section (probably a little more more each to ensure it works) I'll be able to backup each drive separately but I'm not sure.
  12. I want to get a backup hard drive for my computer. I have two drives, a 240GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. If I got one 1.5TB drive, could I make two bit-by-bit backups for each drive on the single backup?
