My Galaxy S7 had terrible battery life since Oreo update,
I had like 3-5% battery usage per hour with screen OFF and phone idle

I found a fix I read somewhere that I should try to turn off LTE ( switch to "auto 2G/3G" in settings, even though I was on WiFi and mobile data weren't in use)
so I tried and.. v'oila I have exceptionally good battery life now  around 1% (max. 2%) of battery drain per hour, now my phone can last whole day easy ^^
and reception of the signal is better (I have all 4 lines of signal - when LTE was ON it was max 3 around my living area)

So it seems like when phone really tries to get this good LTE signal it drains battery very fast, but when it doesn't have to - then everything is OK
Maybe this will also help one of you  maybe @LinusTech could also use this fix to.. fix his S9 battery life

Benchmarks comparing performance with the patch/without the patch:
    TL;DW:
NVMe SSD read/write performance is affected (up to 20% in some cases) CPU performance in everyday tasks is not affected Gaming performance is not affected So most users aren't going to be affected by this patch. Thank goodness!

I had similar issue, I bought SSD, moved windows to SDD from HDD and noticed that Windows load slowly

What helped - belive it or not - were 2 things:

    1. connect HDD sata cable to SATA port number 3 on my MOBO (firsly it was SSD - sata 1, HDD - sata 2 - and it was weirdly slow)
    2. Changed IDE mode to AHCI under SATA mode in BIOS

System now loads like it should

Maybe your PSU is giving them too much power causing the power delivery the cards (capacitors, resistors, chokes & MOSFET's) to blow.

You wrote it perfect!. If my local international market has Zywiec in stock, I'll pick up some tomorrow after work and I'll drink one for you!.

Egg-Roll, thanks for that information. I'm thinking my issues might be Bios related as I didn't change any of the setting's after installing the hard drive.

Only CPU load high and GPU load dropping ? or both very high and at least GPU not dropped ? Because if your CPU is busy doing other things its normal that GPU load goes down and as a result FPS also.

You set fan curves to react set temps. 3pin fans have starting speed of 30-40%. Set that at temp point where you want to power up. You can test what is your fans starting point with main screens dials.

Check some guides on how to setup SpeedFan.

A bent circuit board holding the sockets inside the PSU. I'd sent it back because it's possible, but it shouldnt affect performance.
