  1. So i was perusing the internet and came across a titan x maxwell card on ebay for around $299. i was wondering if it was a viable option to get that card vs. spending 700+ on a 1080ti?
  2. also a side note: I will be putting cablemod cables in once i get the 2 8pin pcie cable
  3. I understand that if I had gotten a reference card it would have worked easier but I have two gigabyte g1 gaming 1080s in my big rig that I though, was the exact same mounting solution for hardware so that's why I got what I got. If I had realized that they weren't going to do a block then I would have a reference card.
  4. I have Gigabyte Gaming OC 11g 1080ti and currently no one makes a full cover water block for it. my question is should i wait to see if some one does or use a universal solution like the corsair HG10 or the EK Thermosphere VGA block? I really want to water cool just don't know my options well enough to make a decision.
  5. yes i know its not as practical as a laptop i get that, but the fact that it does have what it has in it and i can take it on the move with me fairly easily (i am in the military so this is great for moving around plus since im in the navy this can go on a ship a lot easier then spending what i would want on a laptop) Plus i know the CPU is only a quad-core but i will also be using it for light content creation because im a photojournalist for the navy.
  6. So I decided to build a small form factor rig that could easily be fit into my backpack but still have all of the performance of a full size desktop computer. The limiting factor was the case. Its a SilverStone Surgo Series SG13. Link to case: http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=536&area=en The case is small and it fits easily into a backpack but how to fit everything in there was a challenge. I also went with SilverStone's SFX power supply the SFX SX800-LTI for consistent power and for overclocking capability. Link to power supply: http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=731&area=en The graphics card was a bit of a challenge because I was only limited to 10.5" but with some removal of a couple of plastic bracets on the front panel I was able to fit in a 11.02" Gigabyte 1080 ti Gaming OC 11g card in. Link to the Card: http://www.gigabyte.us/Graphics-Card/GV-N108TGAMING-OC-11G#kf The rest of the build was a lot easier to deal with I got myself an i7-7700k to go on the MSI Gaming Pro Carbon AC Z270i, 32gb of G.skil Aegis Ram DDR4 @ 2400mhz (16x2), 525gb Crucial M.2, 2 1tb Western Digital Black 2.5" laptop hard drives(for space reasons) and an all in one liquid cooler for the cpu, the Corsair H55 120mm. The photos below are basically everything that went into this build. I hope you all enjoy!
  7. at the time when i first put the system together because it has been pieced together it ran me about $1,800 but i have prolly put in close to $3,500 at this point i do have plans to put in an m.2 at some point so there is that.
  8. Yeah but for what I'm going to be doing I already have the stuff so im not looking to re-spend money just to have a different CPU and mother board.
  9. So this is going to be my first post. I hope to have more soon. This rig has been a work in progress for the past 2- 1/2 years. It was done then I wanted a different case cause of slight damage and it wasn't a new case when I got it. The original case was an Inwin 707 which i absolutely loved. It is roomy enough for all that I wanted to do plus the tool less design made it incredibly easy to swap out drives on the fly. I used it for a while but during my move to my current residence the case got dented in on the front some which I wasn't happy with, so I decided that it was time to move on and find something new. I fell in love all over again with the EVGA DG-87, and absolute monster of a case with six tool less drive bays, 6 optional SSD and 3.5' drive cages on the back of the motherboard along with front USB 3, type C and HDMI input for VR. Plus the enormous capacity for water cooling made it almost the perfect case. Then I got word that i was about to move again (military life) so i decided to look for a case that could be easily transported better. I was looking for large cases but in a cube shape so it could be either crated or boxed up, which in my opinion, would be the best for transport. So I settled on the Thermaltake Core X9. It was originally the snow edition but I ended up painting it blue to go with the rest of the blue theme I have going on. So here are the specs: Thermaltake Core X9 Snow Edition MSI Gaming Pro Carbon X99 Intel i7-6800k Corsair 16x2 gb ram @ 3200mhz 2x Gigabyte G1 1080 graphics cards in SLI Samsung Evo 850 2.5' SSD 1tb Western Digital Black 2.5' 1tb Western Digital Green 3.5' 1tb EVGA Supernova 1300 G2 Water-Cooling Specs: Thermaltake Pacific 280 and 420 rads Cougar 140 mm fans in push config EKWB Supremacy - EVO (CPU Block) EKWB EK-FC1080 G1 (GPU Blocks) EK-XRES 140 D5 PWM EKWB fittings (a boat load of them lol) Primochill flex clear tubing If there are any questions I will be happy to answer anything. Bear in mind some of this is still a work in progress but for now here it is. I will upload photos soon (once I have decent pics lol)
