I dont feel like I got ripped off. I see mnay laptops for cheaper with no AC adapter and no battery and No HD. So you are right i could have bought aLaptop with out the battery, AC adapter, and HD for less. It may not be for you thats fine.

5400rpm hard drive is going to be slow for any operating system. Especially if you have used an SSD and gotten used to loading times and overall snappiness. I’ve gotten to the point where I notice performance between a sata ssd and nvme. For me going back to a 5400rpm drive would be hard.

I dont but I wish I still did. Windows 10 doesnt like older hardware. As my machine is from 2013 I have had numerous smaller problems with Windows 10, bugs that have survived thru multiple format and reinstall.

I would recommend switching over to Windows 10 sooner than later if you are planning on sticking with Windows as an operating system. I would try to update any internet connected devices to Windows 10 by the end of this year (2019).

As of January 14'th of 2020 major updates will stop being pushed out to Windows 7 systems. However as we've seen from Microsoft in the past, they may end up pushing this further down the road.

I run my television with Win7 and Windows Media Center (best piece of software MSFT ever developed) and plan on doing so as long as the hardware holds out.  I've got extra parts to keep this baby humming along.  It's only used for cable card TV and streaming on Amazon, Netflix and ESPN.  No other uses.

I still have Win7 on one server, as I haven't yet attempted to try Win10 on it. Of particular concern is the lack of a graphics driver.

I have Win7 on some ancient laptops that are old enough I'm not sure Win10 would even install on them. I know I couldn't install Win10 beta on one as it was missing some CPU instruction.

I use Win7 for competitive benchmarking on AMD systems, as it is immune to some clock manipulation cheats that Win10 is affected by. The lack of support isn't a problem in this use case. Some even still use XP for even more performance.

Pretty much all other systems I expect to use into next year have already been updated to Win10. It is still possible to get Win10 activated if you install on top of activated Win7.

The oldest that belongs to me is a beated up lenovo ideapad 100-15ibd that I got for 50 bucks that got some love (upgraded to 16gigs of ram and got ssd) and now I use it as a htpc.
The one I used the most is a razer blade which I accidentally broke the keyboard and now the sits comfortably behind the TV.

If gaming is a concern for you and you're an absolute Linux noob, imho the latest video by LTT presented by Anthony is a pretty nice overview (see below). If you want to learn more about server stuff, do web development and so on, I'd probably go for regular Ubuntu LTS or Debian. You'll find a bit more information and tutorials for these distributions. Not that there aren't any information for Arch based distributions, don't get me wrong.

Development-heavy stuff but still very general purpose: Ubuntu LTS
Gaming that just works well: Manjaro
Just works and looks a bit like MacOS: Elementary
    Just works alternative: PopOS
Pure Server: Debian or Ubuntu Server

Note: personal preferences and not (entirely) based on hard facts.

Mainly using my X99 rig, but my old 2011 one (i5-2500, Z77 MoBo) is lately being used more and more.
I am looking into moving over completely from Win7 to Linux.  The old rig is great for testing stuff without having to resort to dualboot.  With a modern GPU (I had a couple of 1070s left over from mining so that was a no-brainer) it's still pretty good for 1440p gaming.

I've been looking up the softwares i use and the only program using AVX is blender, but on the amd website they state that the Ryzen 7 supports AVX technology. So like you've all been saying the build suggested by @Abdul201588 is excellent.

Thanks to everyone whom have helped me in this build

Get a esp strap. Can be used on arm or leg. They are cheap on Amazon. An slitly better power supply would be better in the long run. Dont worry about being a little scared. Thats a good feeling to have, it means you care about what you are about to do.   Here is guide I tell my friends to use the first time they build their rig. I know its not Linus By jay does a fairly good job.
