Nothing to do with loyalty to one or the other. Anyone who's loyal to either is a fool, I cringe when I see people factoring loyalty into a purchase decision, even as a tiebreaker. I just appreciate the good business sense if this is in fact the case, no sense in them leaving money on the table if it doesn't buy them extra market share.

Oh snap. That makes sense. Until AMD can have a Ryzen moment in the GPU space, maybe it is in their best interest to be just as crappy to consumers as Nvidia.

When is AMD going to make a product that will finally put the smackdown on the 1080 ti? Sure the VII trades blows with it, but by the time people will appreciate that extra VRAM it'll be multiple generations old. Years later AMD still doesn't have an answer to Pascal, Nvidia is just allowed to be mediocre and laugh all the way to the bank in many respects. Is there anything on the horizon that Nvidia can't respond to with a simple price cut? Go Intel, I guess.

So the problem is actually believing marketing spin? When has anyone ever recommended to do that? You can choose to ignore that type of thing and apply standard logic to a situation, which would be that uptake will be gradual.

It's a commercial flop because it's not living up to the grand hype given at a press product launch where that, as every knows, is par for the course. Who actually believes most of the statements made at those other than the technical specification facts about the product.

Or not at all. My time is worth a lot more than $2000 every few years. If there is some benefit that saves me time or makes my life more convenient, then it's very often worth paying. Just because the benefits don't outweigh the costs to you doesn't mean they don't to others.

I could very easily move to Kansas, make the same money, and spend a literal fraction of what I pay now on living costs. As could many people who live in big cities, and yet, we don't because the perks of living in civilization far outweigh the savings of living in the middle of nowhere.

I've still got a 6s Plus, I don't even like how Apple is trying to go for less bezel. I'd rather have an iPhone 8 Plus over a Xs Max if the 8 Plus had a headphone jack.

ZTE Axon M owner reporting in. I love my phone and am not going back to a single screen device. The Axon M definitely has its quirks and compromises, but now that you can find it in the $300 range, there's no other phone that I would consider. I find myself using the second screen for multitasking all the time, and battery life is still decent even when heavily using the second screen, as long as you're not expecting it to last all day. Having a web browser on one side while writing an Email or text is magnificent, your password manager on one side and an app on the other, copy/pasting...you'll discover so many things. Sure, you can do all this now on one screen phones, but I never found myself wanting to for lack of screen real estate. Not any more. The fingerprint reader on it is lightning fast for unlocking, it has a headphone jack and microSD slot, and it's a very clean installation of Android, without all the bloat that other vendors include. You can get used to a camera only being on one side of the device pretty quickly, and the quality of the camera is more than good enough for me - I was happy with my Galaxy S4's camera, for reference, though, my understanding is that if you're any sort of camera nerd the camera is terrible? For everyone else it's fine. I, for one, am very excited for foldable devices to continue to advance, because in my opinion, they're already "there" with the existence of the Axon M. Once the seam in the middle goes away due to flexible displays, then I'll probably consider stretching one app across the whole device more, right now I almost never do that on my Axon M unless I'm writing a long Email or reading a long article. The shape of the screen means if you use the whole device with videos the image actually doesn't get much bigger, and then you have gigantic black bars and the seam to deal with, so for now that's a no-go.

I do hope AMD is forced to sell the assets of RTG so that a competent company can take their IP and actually do something with it. All the people who keep saying you should buy RTG GPUs to spite Nvidia should really be telling people to boycott RTG and force RTG to go under. Once Intel, Samsung, or whoever picks up the IP, then Nvidia might get real competition again.

OP, what's your budget? The base Dell 7577 is probably one of the best value options right now. If I had an unlimited budget, I'd say the Aero 15X is the best looking laptop that still packs good features and power. If you need more power than what the 15X offers, You could look at the Aorus X5, or the Alienware 15.

All of the choices have been laid out pretty well already. If you don't care about battery life, my vote would be the Aorus X5 v7, which I would guess will get 2-4 hours of WiFi browsing on battery, depending on settings, and whether you pick the 3k or 4k screen version. It was just released, so you'll need to wait a week or two for reviews. Maybe the Aorus X5 MD if you can wait, but I wouldn't, as its release timeframe is uncertain, and Gigabyte/Aorus are terrible at sticking to deadlines. If you want more battery life, go for the Aero 15. If you feel like you're shelling out too much cash for a machine that isn't perfect for you, the Dell 7567 is a great budget option that gives you a lot of value for the price.

I don't feel like bloatware complaints have much validity anymore. I'm happy letting manufacturers throw on as much bloatware as possible if it has the effect of subsidizing even a cent of the cost I would otherwise pay. 100% agree with the clean install approach to any computer.
