  1. I work in healthcare so no time off from work for me. While I work I've been putting my 1080's to work since PCMR announced the projects for COVID-19 were live. Let's hope they can keep the WU's coming!
  2. Wirelessly power case fans by converting the entire PC case into a "wireless charger" Concept comes from the video below, where the youtuber Strange Parts found out how model makers wirelessly power LED's, and built a version of the set up himself. I'm not sure how you'd control the fan speed besides just changing the amount of power being delivered, I'm no electrical engineer so I won't make any guesses about how that would work
  3. At exactly 7:01 PM EST I put my Vega's power target to -50%, hopefully my hearing will return to normal in a few days
  4. If you're Nvidia cards suddenly stop folding, put "Do a clean reinstall of the latest drivers" at the top of your to-do list, instead of trying to fiddle around with the FAH configs ?
  5. Just entered for the GPU competition since they have the entries open now, figured I might as well post an image of my rig finally: System details are in my signature, please be gentle ?
  6. Look at the qualified vendor list for the motherboard, those will be kits tested and approved to work at the rated speeds for Ryzen. I know there's some challenge trying to get memory to run higher than 3000 MHz typically on Ryzen so I would start there, and just google the model numbers of the kits. Ohh I didn't catch the 1080p monitors, a 1070ti is a tad bit overkill for 1080p gaming unless you want high refresh rates. If you wanted to switch to 1440p @ 60Hz a 1070ti would still work though
  7. If you wanted to slim it down a bit I would go with a Ryzen 2700 (instead of the 2700X) and get rid of one of the two memory kits, but those are mainly just price recomendations. If you do want to stick with 32 GB of ram though, I'd find a kit that is 4x8GB instead of 2 2x8 kits, reason being that it would potentially be cheaper, and you then know for sure that the memory is designed to work in a kit of 4. As for the GPU, are you planning on doing any overclocking? the 1070ti can come close to the performance of a stock 1080 when overclocked (in some games), and even if not, I have a number of friends with 1070ti's and they're pretty pleased with them. Either way though, just don't get a blower style Vega ?
  8. Yeah I would say that's more CPU bottlenecking, but as Cereal5 said the higher you go in Res the less load is on the CPU, and the more load gets put on the GPU's. This current generation of Nvidia's GPU's though I would avoid, and AMD unfortunately isn't doing that great on the GPU side of things. I would suggest looking at reviews for a Vega 64 or a 1080, but also if you're planning on upgrading again in a year or so, might be worth it to stick to 1080p gaming for now, maybe upgrade to something like a 1070ti
  9. Fractal Design has some options I would go for fi I were building a small form factor PC, the Meshify C Mini and the Node 804 for example. I can't remember if the Meshify C has USB 3.0 on the top though https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352086&ignorebbr=1 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352047&ignorebbr=1
  10. Idk if it's the best but it's what I currently use, honestly exceeded my expectations. The color quality is also pretty decent after some calibration, and you can overclock it (taking away some color depth) to 165Hz. Again I haven't done any research on other option in that price range, just giving my thoughts on the monitor you mentioned Calibration guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/5fmg81/acer_predator_xb271hu_high_accuracy_calibration/
  11. I won't give away my secret weapon but hopefully I won't have to use it long ... I also hope I can finally start playing video games again once my 24hr average gets back to normal..
