MrWalex reacted to paddy-stone in ddr4
This is only supposition, but would imagine it's because DDR4 is pushed in differently than older gens because of the locking clips, so maybe the "extra" bit is to actually catch so that you can push down... older gen you could put one side in first and slide in, ddr4 needs to be slotted in at the same time both sides. That's my theory anyway.

MrWalex reacted to NelizMastr in ddr4
Probably just for spacing purposes so DDR3 and DDR4 aren't interchangeable.

MrWalex reacted to Unimportant in What is this connector?
Sometimes they actually have a good reason for it. It could be a class D amplifier with the LPF specifically tuned for the accompanying speaker, a proprietary connector would prevent Joe Average connecting another type of speaker, screwing up the sound quality and blaming Sony.
*could*
-
MrWalex reacted to TonyKramer in What is this connector?
It looks to be proprietary, I've never encountered if before. My older Logitech speakers use a DB9 connector for the two speakers, so I could see the same thing being done here as well.

MrWalex reacted to WoodenMarker in small cooler
The A is for AMD and the I is for Intel. For AM4, get their NH-L9a-AM4.
-
MrWalex reacted to Skiiwee29 in small cooler
The A is slightly longer at 114mm X 92 opposed to the square 92 x 92 of the I version. Both will perfom pretty much identical. The A may perform slightly better, maybe 1-2c at most from the longer fin stack to dissipate the heat with.

MrWalex reacted to RollinLower in inwin chopin
imo it's one of the more perfect cases for a Ryzen APU build. The mickey mouse style plug is actually pretty common, but on audio and hi-fi gear usually. it;s not very different from your standard PSU connection.
i think the included PSU is either Flex-ATX or TFX, but i'm not sure.

I think Maplins here in the UK will fall soon as everything continues to move online.

MrWalex reacted to Max_Settings in cheap-ish case for my Audio-Technica ATH-M40X
The pads also make them sound good. They don’t sound very good with the stock pads.

MrWalex reacted to Tz000 in headphone recommendation at about £100
Audio Technica M40x
I just purchased a pair with Brainwaves HM5 angled ear pads (due to "max_settings" recommendations)
This might be slightly over your budget but well worth it IMO but you HAVE to get the angled ear pads..

MrWalex reacted to Sfekke in A router that's also a kitchen grill?
You could probably mod a router into that thing.
Hell @LinusTech isn't that an idea?
Modding PC components in household appliances, a NES in a Toaster & this router would be a great start

MrWalex reacted to Ansger in ram prices..........
supply and demand. The prices are high so demand will follow. This will result in a lower price. Increasing supply of RAM however requires extra factories. Those take a couple of years to build. Expect RAM prices to remain high in the foreseeable future. It will take a couple of years to completely normalize again.

MrWalex reacted to CryptoMatt in ram prices..........
Buy used,I saw some ddr4 going for like $15 a stick and he had 4 of them 8gb ones. Just gotta wait till people who don’t know what their selling sell stuff

MrWalex reacted to Salacious B Crum in ram prices..........
Sucks don't it I need 16 more gigs of flare x to add to my existing ram but its doubled in price from when I first got the first kit
-
MrWalex reacted to xg32 in ram prices..........
there might be a drop in the first half the year between the time new stuff is announced in feb to the time when they actually come out, we are probably past the peak for now, could be higher once zen+ releases.
-
MrWalex reacted to Syntaxvgm in ram prices..........
nope. 5 years from now when you're done with your computer you'll need to pull your ram and lock it in a safe in your bedroom and sleep with a gun.

MrWalex reacted to NelizMastr in mini itx case
What'll be the purpose of the NAS? Just basic file storage or more?
If just basic storage, you won't need much. A Celeron or Pentium with 4gigs of RAM and a suitable operating system (FreeNAS, Windows with file sharing, Xpenology etc.) will do. If your budget stretches a little bit, you could get a C-series chipset board with a Pentium and ECC RAM.
-
MrWalex reacted to Swiip in mini itx case
For Freenas it's recommended to have 1GB RAM per TB HDD. And as Nelizmastr says ECC RAM would be nice, but check the compability whit CPU & mainboard.
For playing around i can also recommend to buy a old microserver.

MrWalex reacted to TheGlenlivet in how does this sound
Leave out the negatives (age, lack of experience etc.) and concentrate on the positives. If you get the interview and they ask, you can discuss your age and lack of work experience. Also run it through Word or something to check grammar and capitalization.

MrWalex reacted to just tilt in how does this sound
The i's should be capital.
Can't suggest anything about the content of the letter itself, seems fine to me. I am 15 tho lol.
Maybe you could write it from a more enthusiastic perspective, tell them how much you'd love to get the job?
