  1. or his computer does not have a gigabit internal LAN card. I know right. I recently got a relatively new laptop were it has internal AC wireless, but the LAN is still 100. Crazy. Another thing to check is the router, make sure that there is not any prioritizing items set, that would prioritize wireless over wired, and last but not least, check your cable. Is the cable damaged, is it at least CAT 5e? Though that is still a wide variant... you are talking about 1/8th of a MB per second on Wired and 1 1/4 MB per second on WiFi. definitely should not be anything to do with the network speed negotiation to the router/switch in my opinion. Another scenario to check is, are you using the WiFi built into the modem or are you using a router WiFi attached to it? Sometimes you get better throughput on a direct modem connection since it is not being forced to do a Double NAT. Generally it does not slow things down much, but depending on the router, it can. Also if your computer is not negotiating the correct speed by itself, I would be looking at the cable since the only time I have ever had negotiation problems outside of cables, and that is in virtual environments where there are no cables. Good luck
  2. until

obviously there is a problem with the youtube version (which showed a playtime of over 2 hours for what twitch has under 1 hour, also the comments show that I was not the only one experiencing this issue) since it has been removed (currently, by the time you read this, it might be fixed). I was having this issue with 3 computers and my Roku. so, I don't think that is my end. Floatplane still not playing or letting you download the video.
  3. until

The Wan show for May 31 is currently unwatchable on youtube (weird repeating glitch every 10-20 seconds), I see it available on floatplane, but does not play there(or available for download), it is only watchable on twitches archive currently.
  4. I had no real luck with the NEXSAN people. I had a few more of the devices, and I was able to use a power adapter from another unit to get pertinent information off the failed unit. I have now built a rackmout server with FreeNAS and on-top of that I have nextcloud running that we are very happy with. Sorry I do not have any better information. For a simple NAS solution like how the transporter worked, there are quite a few wireless Routers that have USB on them to act as a file share or print server. good luck
  5. Hello everyone, A few years back a entity named Connected Data created a cool device called the "Transporter" I have a few of these devices and there is some data on one of them that did not get shared to sync with any of the others. You guessed it, that device failed, and due to the setup/registration procedure, you can't just plug in a drive from one to another. Has anyone had any experience with data retrieval from these failed devices (drives)? Any help would be much appreciated. for those that are unfamiliar, a link to them https://helper.nexsansupport.com/tfc_support As you see from the link, they are out of support, I am speaking with someone there, but there is only 1 person at the company that knows anything about them, and since they are no longer supported, I am surprised / grateful that they are even talking with me. The Transporter model I have is the Sync model that failed. Thanks,
  6. not really I started this post off saying I was only making a topic of how important it can be for your time and date to be accurate
  7. Something short and sweet, First I don't have a problem. I wanted to point out something, something really simple that has caused alot of headache for me on multiple occasions. I think this really would make quite an interesting TQ video to be honest. To the point Issues that can be problematic for the time on your system being off by too much. SSL certificates that ARE valid can show as invalid Not be able to authenticate to a computer or server (top one, this is the one that drove me nuts) inability to keep computer up to date due to the above 2 reasons. so how much time is too much. I don't have a good answer, but I do seem to have problems when the day is incorrect. A few minutes, OK, a few Hours Maybe, a day and it is over. Everyone is like, "OK why should the time get that bad" That little watch battery (cr2032) on the motherboard of most computers, when the computer is unpluged from AC power is when this normally takes over and keeps your time ticking. On some older boards, this dying would also clear any custom BIOS settings (and maybe on some utility boards). At a place I have done work at, one does not normally pay attention to something as odd as the date being wrong for a problem as not being able to get to facebook, or watch the latest TQ. or save that crucial document to the server, or even e-mail it. What do you think? I have not been able to find any conclusive "Time drift" allowable answer.
  8. I recently purchased 2 laptops for our company. On the first one I skip the WiFi setup until later since I was just wanting to "set it up". This still takes, 15 - 20 minutes, reasonable... The second one I just set up and obviously made the mistake of not skipping the WIFI setup, since it starts downloading "Critical Updates". I think that is just stupid. It already takes 15 - 20 minutes without that, and now I have to wait through that because they decided to install updates 30 - 45 minutes before I ever get to the desktop. I got the 2nd computer out, out of necessity. In the 1st one I installed a M.2 drive and cloned the hard drive to that and booted off the m.2 drive flawlessly, great right, so I go and erase the original drive and then boot up to a lovely blue screen saying that there are files missing and I scratch my head. I try the D2D recovery tools on the cloned drive to no avail so I break out the 2nd laptop thinking I can quickly make a recovery flash drive... over an hour later... thanks Microsoft. I thought this would be a interisting rant to see what anyone else thinks or if anyone else had had a similar problem, trying to do something quick, then Microsoft says, "Not so Fast, Haaahhaahahha" So if your in a hurry setting up a new laptop. Don't connect to any internet connection until you want Microsoft to take over. I did not mention the computer specs here since they were non consequential for this topic.
