  1. Heres's the crystaldiskinfo for the SSD. Looks the reallocated sector and uncorrectable are 0, if im reading it correctly. Also did a time log of the 12V rail as I played valorant for a bit, the fluctuations seem to be within acceptable bounds.
  2. True , I should make a boot usb. I could also just run these tests with my working boot ssd right ?
  3. Awesome, thanks, I will definitely try those suggestions . I think the BSOD came just as I was loading up valorant, so maybe it actually is an issue with PSU? it was most likely putting the CPU under some load, but not much though ... Either way, it's wierd that I can no longer boot into windows at all. It's like something was permanently glitched
  4. I have had 2 instances where my computer just totally locks up , freezes, and I have to hard reboot. I thought maybe that was indicative of a GPU or PSU issue ?
  5. I used Seagate tools, and it passed the SMART test and short self test, but maybe I should try crystal disk. Also, when I first built the system , i used memcheck86 and it didn't throw any errors , (although admittedly I didn't run it the whole 24 hours or something it says to do I think ?) I was also thinking about a faulty PSU , but I'm not too familiar with what a failing PSU looks like. I took off the overclock on my CPU to make sure I wasn't demanding too much voltage ...
  6. Also i used the same sata cable to connect to the other ssd and it works just fine ... So I think I can rule that out.
  7. If it was a drive failure , would I still be able to see all the files on it? Or it could still fail even so?
  8. Hi all, Today while randomly firing up Valorant and getting ready to game, my computer suddenly crashed into a BSOD, and gave the code System_Service_Exception. I then restarted the computer, only to find that I could no longer boot into windows, and it now gives me the BSOD code Critical_Process_Died over and over. I've tried sfc /scannow in the repair tool CMD, as well as fixing the bcd and boot records via CMD, but I get stuck in certain steps, like 'access denied' when trying to fix boot record. In the recent past, I've had BSOD errors such as Memory_Management, but a quick restart always fixed it for me. The wierd thing is, I took my old laptop's SSD and put it in the PC, and I can boot off of that just fine, so I've been using that for now. And if I go to explorer, I can actually see the old SSD there, and I can access all the files on it luckily, I just can't boot off of it. I could just copy/paste all my important files off of it onto another HDD, and then wipe it clean and install Windows again, but I kind of want to know why this happened in the first place, and if there's another solution for me. Specs: - Windows 10 - x86 64-bit - Original OS: Windows 10 - Retail version, purchased through kinguin.net. (Haven't had any issues whatsoever) - System was build June 2017, all parts new! - OS was installed at time of build. - CPU: Ryzen 1700 -GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition -Mobo: ASUS Prime X370-Pro - PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 650W Dump Files: (One is really big, I'm not 100% sure if thats the dump file, but I found it in system root, created today , the day it happened) https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1vwgq_ibFn400_shaiHwyKOEqOFuBK83-?usp=sharing Thanks for the help in advance!
  9. OP and I have disable fast boot in windows settings, and have not gotten the problem since!
  10. I just recently built my rig a few days ago, using an EVGA gtx 1070, Ryzen 1700, Asus x370 pro, and I get this same exact artifact! I was googling for this problem and I'm glad I came across this thread. I will try to boot into safe mode as well. Have you gotten the artifact at all since you've turned off fast boot? Also, I should note, im using a 34" LG Ultrawide, 34UM88, at 3440 x 1440.
  11. BitWit did a little video on exactly this a few days ago, not sure exactly how conclusive it will be for you though. He wasn't super thorough, but still gives a nice first comparision. Pretty much, they both achieved very similar overclocks.
  12. The B350 is a great "budget" motherboard for Ryzen. And by "budget", I don't mean cheap and lacking features, its a solid price and allows for overclocking and has great capabilities.
  13. Yea, I'm pretty happy that AMD is finally creating competition in the CPU arena. Although, I do want to mention, we HAVE seen more than 4 cores on other Intel processors in the recent past, so why haven't developers already begun to optimize for multiple threads? Maybe it'll be more of a push now that these Ryzen chips will take more of a market share with their lower prices relative to their core counts?
  14. Yea I agree. With all these numbers and percentages of marginal performance increases with the 7700k, it might not even matter , seeing as it'll be a huge upgrade from my gaming laptop I bought 6 years ago. I'll still have 8 cores for everyday multi tasking, and a brand new platform as well.
  15. Hi guys, I've been floating around for a bit, looking at other topics posted, but wanted to get another discussion going on this topic of the 1700 vs 7700k . I want to start building my rig as soon as possible, but I've been debating for weeks now on the two CPU's. Like the title says, most of my use will be single threaded applications (Sketch Up, AutoCad, adobe CC). I will be doing some light gaming , but it's not my focus. Rendering WILL be done, but only from time to time. I'll be doing some light photo / video editing as well. From what I've researched, with the articles on puget system's website, the 7700k beats Ryzen in a lot of adobe applications by 15%-20%. In terms of IPC, we all know the 7700k is better. But in terms of upgrade path, future software optimizations, CPU sockets becoming obsolete, is Ryzen perhaps still a better choice ?? With having extra cores for all around multitasking, and going with a brand new socket, will the loss in performance even matter? So many variables , which is why I still can't make a solid decision. Any input / insight will be super appreciated!
