Yes, we should keep education and religion separate.

With that said, phrase the lord for this black man.

    Why would I get triggered?

tl;dr: Religious teachings should be in school in the form of the humanities. There are quite a few things that need changing in the educational system, such as salary and tenure, and quantity+quality of instructors.

I believe that education should include the humanities. Showing how every creation myth starts (including the Big Bang) and why it's important to see the similarities between us. We do need to push our kids to learn more advanced material from a younger age. I'm a huge advocate for X.5 (accelerated remedial or smaller group, depending on your priorities) classes where kids who do exceptionally well at a lower level can be pushed by a teacher that has experience making lessons quick and easy to digest. This should alleviate having too many kids in courses where they get left behind and have trouble when they get to college.

The other educational issue that needs to be addressed is tenure and overall pay. Tenure should only be a thing if a teacher is observed by faculty and rated by students for a few years and with an expiration date, so they don't feel comfortable knowing their position and courses are in jeopardy. Teacher pay needs to be higher or we need more assistant teachers in class. I'd be happy either way knowing that the head instructor doesn't have to worry about bills, school supplies, and whether her kids are falling behind.

Funding of charter schools needs to stop because they are private, for-profit institutions that will choose students based on their own bias and have statistically worse grades compared to equally funded public schools.
