So after my phone got repaired, I had some problems using flash at night.

The LED would blind the camera.

I ended up finding out that there was a seal in between the LED and camera that prevented light from spilling into the lens from inside the phone itself, and when the seal was broken, light could spill into the lens.

So, after fucking around for 3 hours with adhesive, and breaking the connector to the fingerprint scanner, I have this result.

Soooo much better.  I'm kinda pissed at myself for busting the finger print sensor, but I'm also mad at the phone's design.  It's held together with adhesive that I must heat up before I can remove the back.  This phone was not ment to be gotten into, and I had to do just that multiple times to make sure that the adhesive was making a good light seal while also not fucking with the focus of the camera.

If the camera was slightly raised, or there was a groove in the back with a raised bump around the camera, this issue would have never surfaced, but we live in a disposable non repairable world.

Also, the cable for the fingerprint sensor could have been attached to the back somehow, which would have prevented it's damage.

End of rant.  All in all, I'm real happy that I fixed the camera flash.  I payed as much as I did for the phone primarily for the camera, so that component takes priority.

You can use the first pic for conspiracy theories; "real ghost cause on camera!"

If the repair service messed up the optical seal, they should be responsible for fixing it. Take it back and have them replace the now broken fingerprint scanner at no cost, or ask for a refund.

Will they still do that even after he opened the phone or will they blame it on him and ask him to pay for it?

@lewdicrous Even if I didn't open up the phone I doubt that I would have gotten anywhere doing what @iamdarkyoshi suggested.

@_StrikE_ The repair was from my insurance which only cost my 30 dollars.  Unfortunately the company that repairs the phones have a bad reputation.  Just because should be responsible doesn't mean they will.

@_StrikE_ Lawyers are much more expensive then me just buying the fingerprint sensor.  Or a brand new phone.

I get where you're coming from, but it's not that cut and dry.

As for the repair, the screen itself was 70 dollars if I wanted to try the repair myself.  So 30 dollars was rather cheap.  You get what you pay for I guess.  On the bright side, the repairman went to my house, and I was able to watch him open the phone which was actually invaluable information for me.

Also keep in mind that the company in question says that you loose the water resistance when they repair it, that's the disadvantage of going third party with your repairs.  It's not as good.

Doesn't your country have a governmental agency that handles stores and services which don't deliver what they promised ?

There is a right to repair law.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronics_right_to_repair

Which I'm a strong supporter of, but no, I cant contact my government and state that my phone was repaired incorrectly.  I would have to take them to court if they didn't agree to fixing the phone.  I would probably win, but the legal fees alone would be too much.

@_StrikE_ We do have the health department when it comes to food safety and whatnot.

We do have consumer protections, but stuff like third party repairs is limited especially when they have a disclaimer stating that their repairs break the seal that makes your phone water resistant.  Due to that disclaimer they could have leverage saying that since the issue was from the seal getting broken that there is nothing that they are going to do since they disclosed that and I accepted the terms.

@_StrikE_ Burgerland can be ass backwards sometimes.  But yeah, I'm adjusting to the lack of fingerprint sensor, it was my primary way of unlocking my phone.

I was also told that they are sensitive to heat, so I could have killed it with the heat gun, which is nessacary for opening the phone in the first place.  I really wish the design was more repair friendly.

@Schnoz Aw shit!. I totally forgot about them.  I even use their toolkit on a daily basis.
