sandybridge CPUs are just simply not capable of generating memory clock higher than 2133MHz.

PC parts are alot tougher than they look. It's still very nice to be safe like building on a non static surface( I also like using those rubber sandals).don't force things in spaces it's clearly not meant for(protip for everything in life). Also don't stress if it doesn't boot the first time it's probably something you've over looked.

I'm on an uncapped plan, too. Sometimes Steam is annoying as hell at times (unless someone can give me a full guide that can let me install physical copies of games without DRM's like Steam, Origin, Unity, etc... screwing with me) and ISPs in my country are pretty much under a monopoly... and its SLOW!

I prefer getting physical copies mainly because my ISP is really shitty and downloading one new AAA game would result in my bandwidth getting shaped even though I'm on a uncapped plan

The 950 isn't specifically made for laptops in read and write its somewhat faster than the Intel 750 it only loses out in iops. I'd say get the 950 but please make sure that your m.2 slot runs at PCIe 3.0 x4 to get the full performance out of it. This also applies to the u.2 version of the Intel 750. I'd also recommend going m.2 over the Intel 750 because you will only be able to put it n desktops this will be inconvenient if some day you want to upgrade your desktop and maybe add that to a laptop

I will buy the first 6-core consumer priced CPU or APU ever, even if it sucks.

Yup it works best on a wired connection you probably won't have to spend much either the specs you have above seem perfect for a HTPC

Have you considered that MAYBE your OC is interfering with the controllers somehow? It is a possibility dial back your OC a bit it shouldn't hurt your performance so much

Uh... do you really need more RAM? Chances are you'll be perfectly fine with your 8gb right now. And considering that you want to upgrade, I would just avoid buying more ddr3 and just jump to ddr4 Skylake right away, instead of investing in older RAM.

But to answer your question, the mobo will adjust the speeds automatically.

If you don't use the data de-duplication feature in FreeNAS then the ram requirements are extremely low.

Avast. It's free. Its not as intrusive as Avira which I found annoying when scanning for viruses. Virus detection is easy and you have the option to mass delete or quarantine after scanning, also boot scan is highly useful. A few gripes, they use every opportunity to make the user buy the software instead of using it free, there's also bloat that only paid customers can use.

If the DVI port is a DVI-D port, use DVI.
If it is not, use displayport.

DVI-A is analogue, can be adapted to VGA
DVI-I is analogue and digital, can be adapted to VGA and HDMI
DVI-D is digital, can only be adapted to HDMI

DKM1129 reacted to NumLock21 in I saw this DDR3 board for Skylake made by ASUS anyone getting it?
Skylake runs on DDR3L which operates at 1.35v so it's close to the 1.2v for DDR4. DDR3 is 1.5v so that's way beyond the maxiimum voltage for Skylake. Before Skylake was release most of us was happy that you can use your old DDR3, so to save some money, but from the looks of it now. It really doesn't, you're still force to buy new ram, so why buy DDR3L, just get DDR4 and they're faster.
    Skylake? Get DDR4

DKM1129 reacted to Captain_WD in Is it worth it to raid drives in a NAS?
Hey there DKM1129,   As @scottyseng explained, at this point the only RAID option that would make sense is RAID1 with the two drives since it'll give you some redundancy, but you'd lose half of your space. Unless you have a gigabit network at your place, the drives can't really operate at their maximum speed due to the network bottlenecking them so RAID0 won't make much sense plus, as explained, it'll increase the risk for your data.  I'd suggest to leave your drives as they are, get the new WD Red drives, put them in RAID1 (which will give you roughly 5TB of usable storage space) for redundancy and use the old drives for backups.   Captain_WD.

DKM1129 reacted to scottyseng in Is it worth it to raid drives in a NAS?
No, I wouldn't say it's worth it. For two 500 GB disks, it's really not worth it. RAID doesn't short the lifespan of the drives themselves, it just increases the risk of you losing your data.

The only RAID if you wanted to do it would be RAID1, but you'd lose quite a bit of space and your files don't seem to be too important to you on the two 500 GB drives.

I would maybe consider having the 500GB drives be a backup for your most critical data from the two 5TB drives (still separate). Yeah, just have all of the drives not in RAID.

You'd need more drives for it to be worth it. RAID 5 needs at least 3 drives, RAID 6 needs at least 4, and RAID 10 also needs 4. They all have to be the same size too.

390 has more vram 3.5GB vs 8GB. Then there's features you'd want to look at, for example Nvidia's Geforce Experience package has some nice new features, but if you're talking game performance then you'll be getting more out of the 390 for sure.

From what I know there isn't such a software as deleting everything else would probably result in your drivers getting deleted as well, if you needed a software to uninstall multiple software at once I'd say go with IObit Uniinstaller thats the first step, from there you can batch uninstall software and also delete the folders they leave behind, its not exactly what you wanted, but hey its free and it works
