Ahimoth reacted to Freezanator in Ultrawide or 4k - X34 vs XB32 vs PG27AQ - Dual monitors or Speakers
@Ahimoth I'd personally go for the ROG Swift PG27AQ since built-in speakers is always nice and will give you that immersive experience headphones can't match. Also, as you said, it'll be the cheapest.

Hi, I just recently upgraded from 1440p to 4K and I also bought the GTX1080 and I mean if you have the hardware to run 4K go for it, if you don't then I would suggest maybe one of the less expensive 3440x1440 models. But hey in the end it still will be what you think is best because it is you yourself that will pay for it.
For example I went with the ASUS MG28UQ and yes it doesn't really fit that I've got a GTX1080 but a monitor that supports FreeSync but if I had taken for example that X34 it would have cost me the same amount as the ASUS MG28UQ + GTX1080 so for my point of view I would have everyday gone with 4K.

I haven't found anything on the P2715Q, might just have to buy it and try it >.> 8ms grey2grey seems a bit high. Don't understand the difference between typical and fast, is fast a setting?
The Dell U2713HM is a very popular panel and has been for many years. It seems that the U2715H is it's successor. It has a 8ms response time (g2g) and 6ms if it's fast. Pretty much it's exactly what we were all asking for in terms of slim bezels! I say go for it!

Yep! U2414h is another good option!
+1 to this I love this display, doesn't have vesa support though I don't think.

Dell U2715H or Dell P2715Q just hold off for a little while, if an awesome deal pops up then go for it but maybe just wait until a few more of the trusted reporters

Ahimoth reacted to GoodBytes in Dell U2715H. Seems good on paper, but what am I missing?
Yes the monitor is brand new.. it will take a few months before you start seeing reviews. The response time is higher as the resolution is higher. The monitor draws from top to bottom row-by-row (hence why: when you have tearing it's a horizontal line). So the more height you have, the slower the response time for the same panel. So the panel needs to be even faster.
From what I see, actual response time for 4K monitors isn't great.. it's not bad or anything, perfectly game capable, but if you seek competitive play, or have absolute 0 ghosting, then no, obviously not. You have to wait for maybe a 1 or 2 generations for that.
The reason why you have 2x Response time figures is that the monitor has a mode where it overdrives the monitor to be able to push faster response time than normally. Its not bad for the panel at all, it is within specification (of course). What it is, is a true overclock done on the panel (voltage is increased on the panel). But the results is that in some visual settings, it could display something called "inverse ghosting". It is a strange visual affect where, on fast motion, where the monitor overshoot the color it is supposed to display.. passes it, and then it return to the correct one. The overshoot depends on on the colors being displayed. That is why it is in option.
SO on the monitor on screen menu, under Display section, you will have the option Response Time, where you'll have 2 choices: Normal and Fast. For more information on where the option will be, check out page 33 on the user manual of the monitor: http://4k-monitor.ru/news/04.11/dell-p2715q.pdf
If you want to try it, be sure that for your region, Dell offers you free returns if you don't like the monitor. A quick call of chat question will have that answered, like this there is no surprise.

Try Dell S2415H the monitor is gorgeous. And when it went on sale on blackfriday it was going for $160 a piece.
24 inch 1080p 60hz Glossy ips with the thinnest bezel with vesa mount capability. Perfect for triple monitor set up IMO

Multiple 24" panels are a pretty decent option. 1080p gaming at 27" is a bit of a waste of money right now.
What Evee suggested is pretty spot on. At a budget of $840, the S2415H is well under at $190 USD per monitor for a total of $570, allowing you to purchase something extra like a 1+3 ergo-tech desk stand. If I were in the USA right now, that would seriously be a set up I'd consider.

Ahimoth reacted to masterchiefruled in New graphics card, black screen.
Hi,
I installed a new graphics card (gtx 760), but when I boot up I get a blackscreen even though the PC is clearly on.
I have already uninstalled the old nvidia drivers and disabled the intel hd 4000 drivers.
The screen does work if I plug it in in the mobo.
Does anyone know what to do about this?
Thanks.

Ahimoth got a reaction from kirashi in The PB278Q is still a good monitor right?
Solid monitor. I could only suggest going up to a wide screen 3840x1440 from a PB278Q. If you're the type of person who likes to tinker then overclocking on PLS panels can be a lot of fun. As you increase the hz you need to fiddle with contrasts and build your own profiles or pre-sets. Goodluck, you won't regret investing in a PB278Q

In terms of build quality, Noctua trumps the list other than the GT's.
In terms of performance/noise, GT's are on par but the rest range from slightly to a bit more than slightly worse.

Ahimoth got a reaction from Sinros in Need a recommendation for a PSU
Silverstone, Corsair, Cooler master and Fractal Design all get my nod. If
money isn't really an issue than 750-850 watts is more than enough for what
you're running. Each of those brands should have a gold rated power supply
in your budget just pick which ever one you like. Obviously the cheaper you
go within these four brands the better you'll be because you'll be able to
put that money toward a CPU, Motherboard and ram upgrade in the future.
Just to add you don't need the highest watt power supply but if that's
what you've budgeted then that's what you've budgeted, an 850 will carry
you over to your next build in the future, a 650 may not. Don't spend for
the sake of spending but get good value for you money when you can.
Good luck.

Ahimoth got a reaction from Imabigmac in 4K or 1440 with G-sync?
Neither, the only 4k worth going to is IPS, going from a PB278Q to a ROG
swift or 4k monitor is a waste of money. Gsync is nice, but be patient.
LG just released a true 4k panel for $1400 USD considering that panel is
$2500 AUD here I'd save my pennies for that and If I really wanted GSync
the upgrade kit? Lol >.>
IPS or nothing, those cheap TN 4k panels are being sold for $500 AUD for
the following reasons. They need top of the line GPU horse power to run
at stable frame rates. People who invest that kind of money into their
GPU set ups are enthusiasts who care about features and colour
reproduction. The ones who don't and care only about HZ get 122 or 144 HZ
monitors. For those monkeys there's the swift. Artists won't do work on a
TN panel so yeah. Basically those TN panels are pretty crappy, when you
compare them against good quality IPS panels.
I don't think you need to upgrade yet, if you are go get something for the
absolute elite like the LG's 31MU97 else, maybe get a cheap 4k TN panel
but then there's no reason to get rid of your PB278Q just have both
monitors, one's 27" the other's 28" with the heigh adjust on the Asus
monitor and thicker bezel they'd be around the same overall size anyway.
Peace.
