  1. I think I may just save up for a thunderbolt enclosure. I can't get another gpu if it falls and I would want better bandwidth.
  2. Intersting I thought it was only smaller cards could go in to bigger slots, any idea by how much this would reduce a RX580 in terms of maybe a similar card? I also just found this adapter but I think in theory it does the same one as you linked because I am still bottle necked by the M.2 port right?
  3. I agree it is not ideal but want to try this for gaming with a monitor connected to the RX580. This seems like exactly what I was looking for but this doesn't seem like a full size pcie slot for the card would it still work? I was thinking of something like a exd gdc beast adapter but it seems they are more expensive and less signal quality.
  4. As the tittle states I am looking to use a ADT-link m.2 pcie adapter for a RX580 and looking for something that gives me the best data rates I know this is a bottle neck but still something I want to try. Let me know if you know what the best option of these are there seems to be quite a few of them.
  5. I would like to do that but unfortunately Razer laptops do not have a great resell value and this one doesn't have a batter due to it puffing up so it only works off of the wall outlet which at that point I would rather keep it and save up separately for a desktop. What exactly prevents it from working on the wifi slot? these adapters are made just for that I think.
  6. I believe you are correct but I’ll just have to do it otherwise wait a long time to build a pc. I have all the parts already just this adapter is the last link in my whole contraption.
  7. There’s a perfectly good reason for this, I am using it for a valve index VR headset and this laptop doesn’t have DP from the GTX 1060 and I already went and tried every different way with adapters and custom resolutions and many many adapters and nothing gave me a video output so I’m moving on to this. How does a+e key m.2 differ from just m.2 I thought it was a universal standard that is just m.2? I think I would only get 1 lane but I’m willing to put up with it until I eventually build a pc but not any time soon. Any guess on what that would do to the 580 performance being on one lane?
  8. I am going to get a exp gdc GPU dock but they come in several connector versions and I am pretty sure I have a m.2 but I’m not super sure these are the adapter options. Mpcie m.2 I would be replacing my wife and Bluetooth card (killer 1535 wireless card) which is stated as m.2 but I’m not sure because the seller listings list it as “m.2 pci-e”. This is the item I was looking to get for a rx580. I unplugged the WiFi card and the ssd to see what fits on what and the ssd did not fit on the WiFi card slot. I think I have a M.2 Slot but can’t be positive can anyone help me identify? This is on a Razer blade pro 17 inch gtx 1060. Also if anyone knows how much would I be limited by using the WiFi card slot to the GDC beast? I know there’s a substantial performance loss but that’s okay I’m just not sure if I should get the 9.0 version or the 8.0 version I think the 9.0 has higher data rates but I’m not sure and I’m not sure if it even comes with the correct connection I know 8.0 has both options though. Let me know what you think oh and also a thunderbolt connection isn’t really an option due to price of enclosures.
  9. Would a external GPU dock work for something like a valve index? I know there’s things like razer core but what about the smaller cheaper options like this?
  10. Hmmmmm strange then I think you know what I’m trying to do with the valve index. I tried turning down all resolutions in anything I could to fit adapter specs but still no picture. I am wondering if there is a minimum resolution signal that needs to be sent? I think that the core of the issues probably so that it’s expecting a full resolution signal. The headset is not detected as a monitor only when I don’t plug in it’s supplemental usb 3.0 cord but I was under the impression it could be used without and only loose camera pass through. Do you have any suggestions on what I should try? I know this isn’t really a monitor and you said you don’t know the index specs but maybe there’s some sort of thing I’m not thinking about.
  11. I am having issues with an adapter and wondering if devices can tell if a signal is actively being adapted assuming everything else is okay but deny it because of that. If this is something that happens then is there any way to trick the devices that they are not being converted and in fact plugged in to the port that I would like them to think? This is a HDMI 2.0 port to a DP 1.2 device and with HDMI settings turned down it should be transmitting a signal though the active adapter that it can handle but I am getting no picture.
  12. I am trying to use the full bandwidth of my HDMI 2.0 port with this adapter In to a display port 1.2 port and I think the adapter is my bottleneck so I am trying to make everything fit within spec of it.
  13. I am trying to use a adapter that is not capable of what my GPU is putting out and want to see if works if I just lower this to fit in the adapter's specs. I tried changing the Display Adapter settings in windows but it still does not work, I know that the display can handle more than the GPU can even put out but is there a minimum that a display would need to show any signal?
  14. I can’t be certain but I don’t believe they do but the in depth specifications don’t seem to be a thing for some reason. Either way thanks for the adapter suggestion I’ll probably try it and report back when I do (in a few weeks I think). I think that this has potential but is still a bit of a long shot I think I’ll have to try to find a way to maybe do fake emulated ports if steam doesn’t agree with the HDMI anyways but I’ll really try to make this work. Hopefully more people make other suggestions to add to the list and I’ll try a few.
  15. Yes exactly this is the Github version I was looking at both and just went with this one for the screenshot. I really appreciate this tool by the way it gives tons of information even if it’s not fully current as you mentioned. I think I might try this adapter and the other one I linked in a reply earlier, how do you think this would perform against the valve indexes dual screens? The wiki mentions the resolution but I plan on going as low for the the resolution and refresh rate as I can “The headset uses a 1440×1600 LCD panel for each eye for a combined resolution of 2880×1600. The panels are full RGB and can operate at refresh rates of 80 Hz, 90 Hz, 120 Hz, or a currently experimental 144 Hz mode.” I think the adapter would probably be okay as long as I can turn the settings down but what’s your opinion?
