  1. Tried with a different processor and old cooler, no bsods. return 3600 to socket with old cooler, no bsods. seems the problem was with the cooler, might created too much pressure. replaced it with a nhd15s resolved.... for now. TL:DR The issue is with the processor, rocking a 3100 with no issues. Will replace it with a 5600 down the road.
  2. Set the XMP profile to profile 2. finished install with 32gb without issue. attempting to make the bsod happen again. will update if that fixed it second install success, putting the ram in the correct slots for dual channel and reinstalling again 3rd install success, attempted to overflow the cpu and ram with multiple tasks for drivers update etc. still stable. seems to be fixed. Talked too soon, hit BSOD...
  3. The ram is patriot viper 16gb model pvs416g300c6 1.35v it can handle 2x16gb for patriot, but the voltage is 1.2 can I decrease the voltage on my dimms for them to work? https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-TOMAHAWK/support#mem Other types of 16gb dimms seems to have the 1.35v. Is a test with a different cpu ryzen 3100 can give me some input on whats faulty?
  4. setup: amd 3600 msi b450 tomahawk bios e7c02ams.1io dell 3060 ti installing windows 10 22h2 from a usb made with rufus. when installing with either 16gb stick in either slot, the installation go through. when installing with 32 gb, installation hit bsod, different errors each time. tests did: install with 16gb in each slot - pass install with 32gb slot 1,2 - fail slot 1,3 fail. slot 1,4 fail slot 2,4 fail slot 2,3 fail slot 3,4 fail. xmp on, fail xmp off fail. are there any settings in the bios I can tinker with to make it work, or ahould I look for a new board?
  5. EFI partition was on one of the hdds i removed that were not in use. Moral, install windows when only 1 ssd is connected. some a+ microsoft sht
  6. did that, even tried selecting it in boot mode(F12) still same error
  7. I have received a new GPU and thought it might be good to also clean my pc. after cleaning and installing the new GPU I get the error "reboot and select proper boot device..." I have probably changed the ssd's sata port, dont remember which it was connected to before cleaning. I did reseted the bios during cleaning(removed cmos. battery). Anything I can check and try? Specs MB - z87x-d3h SSD- samsung 850 evo 512gb WINDOWS 10
  8. The experience is with The Cpu line which is under powered (Athleon X4 series) And with the latest GPU line (Dont remember the specific model - Bought in for my niece RX400 series)
  9. I have bad experience with AMD unfortunately, therefore I prefer to stay on the Intel/Nvidia side although the price rise on doing so
  10. Gskill F3-1600C9-8GXM PC3-10700 The VMs aren't running at the same time as gaming. Regarding the specific compability between CPU/Ram/MB, I will look into it more in depth if the better option is to upgrade to a new system Running about 2/3 VMs at the same time All points noted. Will the Xeon work on my motherboard with Non ECC memory? I am not familiar with Server Cpus I didn't overclock the system for stability, I do know the wasted value in not doing so.
  11. 5. Why are you upgrading? Current system is not strong enough for VM work and modern gaming - even basic one IMO
  12. Current Build: Intel Core i5 4670K @ 3.40GHz 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. Z87X-D3H-CF 2048MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series (Gigabyte) 465GB Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB Define R4 case DELL U2412M (1920x1200@60Hz) 2219 (1680x1050@60Hz) Upgrade thoughts: 1. Upgrading the DDR3 ram to 32GB 2. Upgrading the CPU to the latest I7 supported by the MB 3. Upgrading to modern GPU (Like in the list below - 1060/1070/1080) OR Going for what is below and buying basically a new system, and reusing the existing one for NAS/HTPC or something of that sort 1. Budget & Location No definitive budget but not to stretched from the components below Location - Israel - Might buy from Ebay/amazon due to high price differences on some components (Mainly GPU) Depends on your advice as to upgrade or to buy new components. If buy new is the only viable option, those are the components that will be upgraded to: CPU - Intel Core i5 8400 6-Core LGA1151-v2 2.8Ghz Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2V or something similar (H110/B360 socket) Ram - 4X 8GB 2400Mhz Corsair CMK8GX4M1A2400C16R or similar GPU - Not sure yet - Will look into pricing of 1060 6GB/1070TI/1080 on ebay - probably used. 2. Aim Gaming - Emphasis on performance and not on quality of graphics VM machines - Vmware windows/linux machines for different tasks (Optional) Graphic design - Some adobe products - Not the main use for the PC - Most of the work done on a MAC 3. Monitors Probably 2 at 4K each for screen real-estate non gaming monitors with good color accuracy/price In gaming might downscale to improve performance where down scaling doesn't impact the game 4. Peripherals Non 5. Why are you upgrading? Current system is not strong enough for VM work and modern gaming - even basic one IMO Your input will be highly appreciated and used in the decision making
  13. I have 2 computers I work on, one is a laptop that I take with me to work and a desktop at home. They both have the same drive structure: Drive C - a SSD for windows. Drive D - for files. Both have different physical drives for each letter also. How can I sync between the 2 pc's to have the same files on both of them, without duplication? And if a file was changed/deleted on one PC the used software will ask if to delete/change those files on the other PC.
  14. After looking through the available monitors in my country that suits my needs the left are: Dell P2317H Dell P2317HWH Dell P2417H and considerably more expensive: Dell U2417H What do you think, which one to take?
  15. Are acer considered good monitors? My monitors cuurently are Dell U2412M and another Dell IPS whose model I cant find atm. The acer that she uses now have a dark vertical chunk on the screen, like the led got durtier in the middle.
