The problem is that the law would just say backdoors a feature and not a flaw.

dasbene got a reaction from matrix07012 in EU governments plan to ban secure encryption
    Summary

Like many before them the Goverments of the EU states want to enforce access to encrypted communication.

    Extract from the draft

The bold parts of the document are the latest changes after an terrorist attack in vienna. For prevention of this a backdoor in encrypted coomunication was not needed.

    My thoughts
I am annoyed by another try of a regulatory body to ban effective encryption. These backdoors can be miss used or leak to goverments or organizations that are not trustworthy. Its difficult enough to keep the ship of encryption afloat without someone wanting to drill holes into it.

thats only the case if a server is one of the ends and a completly different case.

A compromise that has the hard requirement for the goverment to have access, thats not a compromise. End-to-end encryption YES or NO, thats a binary decision, so no space for any compromise. What they actually mean is something like: "only WE are accessing your communication and ony for REALLY REALLY BAD things". Its not a f****** compromise.

Technically it does not. Thats the title my source is using but i think the draft does imply banning end-to-end encryption. For private communication this means effectivly secure encryption.

I am quite happy that Threema is improving their services and that their are based in switzerland, so we still have a service to go to.

@TVwazhere I took a look at the R6 and it seems to be a decent choice with its 11 HDD slots. Case + 5x Trays + mounting srews and dampers + Shipping are about 160€. Thats a bit more than i want it to be but better than not using my more expensive drives.

@Drama Lama The CS380 looks really good but i am note sure about the used mounting holes in the HDD cages. The hot swap would be cool but i guess i dont need to change a drive too often. I found it for only 132€ but considering the 11 solts of the R6 its not as future proof for me.

Linus doesn't know why Apple prioritizes iPhones over Macs? Well, that's easy. They sell more iPhones than Macs.

As of Android 5, apps are compiled ahead-of-time to native code when they install. You don't need the native SDK anymore.

So basically 150 liters per hour ... 1000 liters in 1 cubic meter of water (unless Google is wrong) at around 1.5$ per cubic meter (google price for water in Canada) ... it costs you about 22 cents per hour in water.

At around 10-15 cents per kWh, it would probably be cheaper to buy a few peltier elements to cool the container with water for a pump that would then recirculate the water.

Buy a couple of these and screw them to an aluminum or copper container with some big fans to dissipate the heat and you got yourself ice cold water: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/cui-inc/CPM-2F/102-1738-ND/1914115

We want to make this happen. It's still unclear how it'll work especially with respect to music licensing.

It's possible we will have to eliminate the "download MP4" feature and force people to stream outright.. but if we can find a way to keep it, PLEX integration is something I personally really want to see.
