this is the same for the r5 1600

as far as voltage goes, you shouldnt need to up dram voltage the xmp profile will do what it needs

on the cpu anything under 1.4 is technocally safe but stick under 1.375 for 24/7 use

Yeah, it's weird. I seem to recall someone else with a somewhat similar issue except with a 1700. OP, maybe try disabling c states and p states?

solid upgrade imo, perhaps just get the next gen r3 x200 and the 1050 ti?
that will net larger performance than the apu and a 1050.

(I HOLD NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR OVERCLOCKING FAILURE, IT WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY)
now thats out of the way!
for CPU: download aida 64, cpu-z and cinnebench, aida 64 will validate the oc if left to run for around an hour and cinnebench will give you higher numbers when you oc to make sure you are gaining performance  and finally cpu-z to monitor temps
run cinnebench and note down score.
then go into bios and find advanced settings, go to cpu multiplier and bump it up by 2 or 3, for reference, for every 1 added to the multiplier is 100mhz, id push straight to x44 in the multiplier to give 4.4ghz, check if thats stable in aida after around half an hour, you'll know if it isn't stable as it will crash, not an issue.
if its stable, add another 1 or 2 to multiplier until it isnt stable, then add a little voltage, as long as you stay under 1.37v ish, you'll be safe for 24/7 use, people say 1.4v is safe but i never go that high.
if at any point the temperature in aida hits over a certain point(im normally happy at max 75 degrees) sort of 85 degrees is when it will start to throttle clocks to make it safe.
keep increasing multiplier until youre happy, remember to keep it under 1.37 for 24/7, most 8700K's hit around 5.1 ghz so goodluck!

as before, no responsibility blah blah..
GPU: download any oc utility you want really, i use msi afterburner (on an EVGA card for reference), GPU-z and download unigine heaven as your stress test, serves the same purpose as aida64 and GPU-z to monitor temps.
open msi afterburner and run unigine heaven in the background.
crank the power limit slider all the way across to make sure theres no power limits, change the temp slider to your safe value, this for me is 80, this is the value that it will start thermally throttling at
first i personally oc the memory then the core.
add +25-50 to the memory clock and watch heaven for a moment, as soon as you see artifacts bump the memory down by 50 mhz and thats your memory oc done.
for the core keep adding +25-40 mhz and watch unigine for a second or so again, keep going until either A-your temps go above your safe limit(i set mine to 80 degrees) or B-heaven crashes, if your gpu crashes and locks itself to a low frequency download DDU and uninstall the driver and reinstall the newest drivers and try again, try to go 50 mhz ish below the core clock where it thermally throttled or crashed.
GPU's are so dependent  on silicon lottery that theres no clocks that i'd be willing to say you should hit
    again, goodluck!

MSI was god awful on launch as the bios was cruddy and the vrms are questionably bad but essentially, if the board is like $30 cheaper than the boards i listed, go for it, otherwise its not worth it imo.

it's intel so just pinch the feet behind the motherboard tray to remove cooler and then pull, the cpu shouldn't come out due to the retention system intel uses, Alternatively, run aida 64 for an hour to heat it all up a little bit and then power down and remove cooler

let me ask a question or 2?
1: Sit down and look at it from this angle, you will be spending $1400 to play like 4 games at higher FPS and bear in mind most games are leaning towards cutting SLI support completely.
2: Are you actually going to build this? It happens a lot and I understand if you're not going to build this but it'd be nice to say "I'm not going to get this but was just curious on everyones opinions."

this won't happen, sli is a gimick now, it used to be good and then over time developers realised most people only run single cards and stop optimizing for 2 cards, this will either cause: little performance gain or lower performance than one card or the game flat out wont run.

when SLI works, it works very well.

when typing essays like that people appreciate a TLDR, AMD has their issues, intel has their issues, intels issues weren't huge as there was little competition from AMD (regarding x99)

now when ryzen had its issues it was big as intel was such a large piece of competition and kinda made AMD look a bit crap
I own a ryzen system, i also own an x99 system, i hate both of them and they both have their own shortcomings but each has a use

tldr, intel and amd suck, intel look better for the most part

I wonder how did you measure that with a GTX 1070 FE, as there would be no difference in gaming between those two with a card of this performance level. Above GTX 1080 levels is when you start seeing some difference (not that it'd be noticeable tbh)
