Hi there,
I'm looking into a potential upgrade of my daily driver's ram.
I know, it's an old model of laptop but It does all it needs for me and I currently dont have the budget to buy an entire new one.
I enjoy working with vm's and therefore I often come across problems such as instantly running out of ram on my virtual machine
and having it slow down massively because it starts putting everything into the swapfile.
Specs of my laptop (Alienware 13 r2, not sure which year but the support software says it's service plan ended december 31, 2015)
- CPU: intel i5 4210u @1.70 turbo 2.7 (https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/81016/intel-core-i5-4210u-processor-3m-cache-up-to-2-70-ghz.html)
- GPU: NVIDIA Geforce Gtx 860m (2047 mb vram)
- MB: Alienware 076JXP
- Current Ram: 2 x 4GB DDR3 SDRAM PC-12800u, model: SK Hynix HMT451S6BFR8A-PB (non-ecc, 1.35V, 1600MHz)
- Storage (upgraded, originaly 1tb wd blue hdd): Samsung 860 evo 500gb (not the pro one)
- OS: windows 10 pro 64bit (vm's os: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS)
I'm looking into buying the following set of ram sticks:
- 2 x 8 GB Corsair ValueSelect DDR3L (1600 MHz, 1.35v) model: CMSO16GX3M2C1600C11
I checked and most of the specifications match, but i'm not experienced enough to make sure this is compatible because i'm aware most laptop components are custom and not really off-the-shelf stuff.
I wish to buy it from the following wholesaler located in Belgium (sorry, the website is only available in dutch and french):
https://www.alternate.be/Corsair-ValueSelect/16-GB-DDR3L-1600-Kit-werkgeheugen/html/product/1094716?
If you were to find a better alternative, please make sure it's available in Belgium without intercontinental shipping (with the new import laws, import taxes can get as high as €60 = 68 USD)
Many, many thanks in advance,
Axel
