    Which gpu

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm gonna wait for the time being since next gen cards are (hopefully) close.

    Which gpu

R5 1600 @4.0, 16 ram @3000. Currently playing on a monitor with 2560x1600. Considering 1440p @144hz in the future. Does a 1080 cut it, or should I go straight 1080ti, or wait for next gen cards. Currently using a 980ti so I am in no hurry.
  3. I have the Strix b350-f. I can't recommended it enough. I'm getting 3.8 ghz on the stock cooler. I got it a few weeks ago for $90 after rebate.
  4. Use a heat gun to verify with the system disassembled. It sounds more like a bad thermal sensor. Can you observe thermal throttling?
  5. I upgraded to Ryzen, and have my old Mobo in a static bag with I believe the original box. It's a Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P. Make me a reasonable donation plus shipping and it's yours.
  6. I'm currently running an Asus GTX 980 reference card. I see 65-75ish fps at average on many titles running at 2560x1600. It's an older Dell 30" monitor. I want to get a new 24-27" 1440p monitor. I'm going to get one this week. Is it worth upgrading to the 1070ti when it comes out, or the 1080 now, or is what I have fine for another year? $550-600 budget at the end of the month for a graphics card if need be.
  7. I have the exact same mobo and cpu. I re used my 980, and that does fantastic for gaming, and I'm at 2560x1600. You will like that setup. I agree more in monitor, and less in gpu.
  8. Got the h105 on sale. Got the m.2 drive locally for $180 NIB. Seemed like a good deal.
  9. Dead thread resurrection. I had a lo g summer with work, but finally ordered parts this weekend. Ryzen 1600 Asus strix b350 f gaming 16gb ddr4 corsair 2666 Samsung 960 pro 512 m.2 Corsair H105 AIO I'm re-using my case, power supply, and existing drives.
  10. Intel 486DX2 was my first. I played a lot of chips challenge, and that was about it. Lol.
  11. That's part of an almost 4 year old build. At the time it was sufficient for my needs as I was doing more console gaming.
  12. I've actually got 10 months of my 3 year warranty remaining. With my current setup I had to overclock my cpu to stay at 60fps with fallout 4. With newer more demanding titles I dont see my current rig lasting.
  13. That's really not a bad deal. It gives me a good overhaul of my system, and gives me room to grow for a while. I think my gpu has another year or 2 in it before that gets replaced. I've always staggered what I replace so it's not a huge amount of money at once.
  14. 6600k. I fat fingered it on my phone.
  15. This is similar to what I was considering, but I was looking at the 6500k. Thoughts?
