    Pet bed?

Not really on water cooling...that could be much more expensive, since this would require working water pump. Basically what I had in mind was turning trash into something useful. Years ago I had multiple stock cooling blocks and just gave them away since I saw no use for them and was using aftermarket cooling blocks. I'd hope to get cpu cooling blocks cheap, used fans cost less than shipping usually. This could get time consuming to get materials and I'd still need free time to make it...which I already lack. Potentially this looks like project for next years spring/summer. So I will have enough time to research and prepare, hopefully.

    Pet bed?

Something like that, only maybe with bigger temperature difference. This Pet Pad gives like 5-6 C' difference....then again I will have to google how efficient are cpu cooling blocks at cooling.

    Pet bed?

Hello! No secret that this place is getting a bit hot in the summer, but I can take a cold shower..not like my cat who hates them. So I had an idea... make pet bed cooled with old cpu coolers? Is there anyone doing this? What I had in my mind is not just case fans pushing some air, but having a metal plate (piece of tin?) big enough for a cat to lay on and try to attach as much cpu cooler blocks as possible under it. All raised from the ground, box like bottom with holes on opposite sides and some fans pushing air in , maybe some drawing it out.. Am I crazy or could this actually make a pretty cool place for a cat (or dog...no bias..I just have too small apartment for a dog)? Framing and construction would be easy...since I earn my living as a carpenter, but would this thing actually work? If this could actually work I would try to build it...assuming I find some 12-16 old cpu cooling blocks...or could that be too much? Linus has a heat camera and a crew of people, he could make this in a day...
  4. Update! Posted problem in my local FB forum. A guy got in touch with me who had the same problem. Basically I installed OS while I had my HDD connected. Correct me if I'm (or he is) wrong but OS can get partially installed in HDD and that cause the said problem. I didn't see that as a factor for a error as I could find the correct partition where to put OS and presumed PC would too. So...I reinstalled OS when everything but the M.2 was disconnected. Reconnected everything afterwards and now it does boot from M.2...for now at least. I will update if this fails.
  5. Well it now shows up in BIOS and is recognized in Windows by other drives... let me at least hope for a boot solution.. XD
  6. I hope my problems are a result of my lack of knowledge...
  7. Now that I've installed W10 in SSD it has letter "C" assigned to it I had the same letter assigned to M.2 when I installed windows in it. Can this situation make a conflict in future? Does it matter?
  8. Hello! Low to midrange level of knowledge...I hope so. I will be googling almost everything you say tbh. Bought an ADATA XPG 8200 1TB a while back. Used it as a storage while my SSD was main drive. Everything was fine, it worked well. Now had time to install W10 in M.2 .... and then it all started. First of all it didn't show up as an option where to install Windows, no matter the boot order, no matter which drives were connected, no matter formatting, swapping between GPT or MBR didn't help. Until it did? So it eventually showed up as an option (don't know what changed) and I installed OS, it restarted couple of times and then I proceeded with software installation. After I restarted PC it showed "reboot and select proper boot device" even tho boot device order is fine. My M.2 showed in it and I tried to swap it with UEFI (that default option in BIOS). Nothing changed. Changed Bios settings to defaults and Bios was up to date last I checked. No errors from SFC or DISM. Now I installed W10 in my SSD to have a workstation and my M.2 shows up in My Computer list...I'm able to use it as a regular storage device, but simply cannot boot from it. CPU: AMD Ryzen 1600X MB: AsRock Pro4 AB350 GPU: MSI 1080 Aero RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2400mhz ddr4 2x8GB M.2: ADATA XPG SX8200 1TB SSD: ADATA SU650 480GB HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB I've gone through all first page of google and I'm all out of ideas, since BIOS part is definitely not my strong side. I feel bad already that everything is always not working for me, so please be patient with me.
  9. What about connecting the rooms? Would a simple RJ45 female wall connectors be sufficient at all ends? What I really want to know, if my idea is not stupid about just making a bridge with cable and just putting modem at one end and pc at the other.
  10. Hello! I hope I reached the right discussion group. So...building a house, going to run electrical wires and I want ethernet of course in every room Planning on using "Gembird CAT 6 FTP/STP". (future proof?) It says it's shielded and is cheap, for 100 meters it costs 26 euro. Cat 7 doubles in price. Street I'm on will not have wired internet connection for many years, so I will be using mobile. 4G+ (up to 160mbps). (*Possible 5G in future?) In house I plan on using some wi-fi mesh system. Basically there would be a central room with internet modem by window. In this room I wanted to have some 4-6 ethernet ports in wall just next to the said window and physically connect individual room when necessary with small ethernet cable. Bungalow house. Wiring will go through attic and come down/go up the walls. Walls are aerated concrete blocks. Metal roof. I get confused with electrical wire proximity with ethernet cables....like what distances are acceptable when running them? I know that they should not run parallel and cross at 90 degree angles, but if it's shielded, can I run them close by? Maybe is there a better way of connecting individual rooms with it if using mobile modem? Do I need special outlets in I use cat6/7 wires? I'm not an electrician and haven't done wiring in house, but I am a carpenter... I'll appreciate any help, Thanks!
  11. Thanks! So would MB support any PCIe Gen3x4 NVMe SSD? Ultra-slow speeds could occur if I fill the SSD near max capacity, I presume. Couldn't some head room could help with that?
  12. Rough example of what I'm thinking of... all around 100 euros Crucial P1 M.2 SSD 1TB Patriot P300 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen 3 x4 SAMSUNG 870 QVO 1TB
  13. Hello! CPU - 1600X MB - AsRock AB350 Pro4 (ATX) GPU - MSI 1080 aero RAM - 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance 2400 OC to 2666 SSD - Adata SU650 480 GB HDD - some 2TB Barracuda 7200rpm Primary use gaming and movie watching. I'm thinking of storage upgrade. Basically I want to get rid of HDD or make it as back-up storage to reduce noise and increase storage speed...accessing and pausing FHD and 4k movies can be irritating too. Existing SSD would be left with OS. I'm willing to make add additional regular SSD or maybe M.2 (less wires) and here I get confused.. On mobo it says PCI-e Gen3x4, but in stores there is NVMe as well.. and then there's both? What can I actually put on that mobo? Looking for 1TB or more for storage. Price difference starts around 10 euros for entry level M.2 and SSD for local distributor, so I'm not bothered about that. I'll try to respond as quickly as possible, but I'm not at pc all the time. Thank You!
  14. Well that's just great news. Mobo is not even 6 months old. But as far as freezing goes, others reported freeze even in idle, which hasn't been my issue yet. I guess I will have to keep an eye on that too. About testing. lowered clock speed and voltage for CPU to 4.0 GHz and 1.375V, then ran Prime95 for almost half an hour - no problems, everything runs ok. Then as soon as I opened Afterburner (while Prime95 was working) it froze. Same happened when opened Ryzen master while prime95 working. Lowered clock speed to 3.9 - then no freezes at all. Then I remembered that my psu has 4 pin connector for mobo, but mobo has 8 pin slot. Is that bad? Could it somehow limit my cpu?
  15. Ran Kombustor with Prime95. Froze like 30 seconds in the test. Ran Prime 95 on its own. Almost stopped test, but PC froze 9-10 minutes in the test. I guess I have OCed a bit too much. Maybe even though GPU is bottleneck at some points CPU has too much on its plate and make a stutter? I'll now dial down the CPU frequency and run tests and games. I hope there is only one problem here, if both CPU is too OCed and PSU not capable, then I'll need a day or two just to figure this out.
