  1. Mainly some CFD stuff... But seems accurate, read writes were above 50gb per iteration for few years! Tyvm for the confirmation!
  2. BIOS recognises the drive and the windows repair tool tries to repair but ends in some loop that goes nowhere. Got another drive and will get linux on this drive to further diagnose. What is this SMART data you speak from? Seems useful. Tyvm
  3. So, I have a msi GT62VR 6re since mid 2017, and as an engineering student I have run a lot of simulations both on the hard drive and the ssd. Since there was a performance gap, most of the long term simulations I set to run on the ssd. Last week my drive died a few years short of what I expected it to. Could it be that I overused the read/write cicles or is it just bad luck on the silicon? It was a Samsung 256gb m.2 sata, if useful. Tldr: Ssd died years prior to expected. Could it be due to simulations running on it?
  4. Acording to the task manager system is using a lot, and many applications use some as well. Is not focused
  5. So, hi This is my situation and I have absolutely no clue what to do now. My cpu usage on task manager has been 100% no matter what for a few days. I decided to act upon it and made my research. I ran ESET, malwarebyte and windows defender. I removed everything that seemed any suspicious, but the problem persists. My performance isn't downgraded somehow, but I worry that the cpu is being degraded. I have no more clue on what to do, so any intake is greatly appreciated. Cya!
  6. I have the installation media by me, i just don't have a code for re-installing it... I got windows with the machine, if i have to install it again i assume i have to pay for it again, right?
  7. Well, my laptop runs a i7-6700HQ and it is having some issues with power delivery, wich results in crashes everywhere. I've done some research and it is firmware issue and as a peasant user i can't fix it on my own. Then with more research I came across an idea: if I disable Hyperthreading, the power drawn to each core, should decrease and therefore the motherboard should be able to supply the 4 cores with steady energy. This issue only appears when gaming, which uses fewer cores but demand higher voltages on each of them, so when rendering on blender and such, should I turn HT back on or just leave HT off all the time and lose some performance? If i sound like I know what i'm doing.... i don't,please correct me and guide me please. System is MSI GT62VR 6RE, as of today all drivers are up to date and so is BIOS.
  8. Really mind opening. Thx guys! Still, is a 1070 too much overkill or the 2 gb of extra ddr5 are worth it?!
  9. So, I'm an engineer gradute looking for a machine that handles 3d modelling and gaming... I was looking for a new laptop at about 1500Usd but got really confused really fast. Its not urgent so I was wondering if waiting for a ryzen based laptop would be best( if there isnt one out there yet). Any guidance greatly appreciated
