  4. I think people get that he is building what the customer wants. But there is an element of telling the customer what they actually need, that's good practice. My first question would be what are you using it for. Do you realise this will give you the same performance for £XXX less... I don't know that just my thoughts on it.

  14. Yeah copyright isn't a simple cut and dry as people assume it is. My understanding is that there are a number of factors that may or may not apply. Fair Usage or fair dealing - for example copyright isn't infringed if its used in study or research, if you are using it in a insubstantial way, whether or not you make a gain out of its use whether this be financial or not, if it is for personal usage etc etc. There are also loads of examples of when copyright isn't eligible for example if you are stating known facts, such as heights, measures, concepts etc. My guess is that you teacher is giving you this task as part of your studies, with that in mind it would seem there isn't any wrong doing. To be fair though, I would be less worried about the copyright implications and more worried about my studies. If I'm honest.
  15. Some intresting comments here. And defo food for thought. So i did a very quick run with the latest version of Prime with an AVX offset of 3 and it didn't crash instantly like it was before... Maybe that has given me some more headroom... I'll keep ya posted.
  16. Thanks for your reply man... I thought it would have something to do with AVX. So what are the benefits of testing with this AVX or not. My concern here, is although my rig is stable with everything I can throw at it except the newer version of prime. Am I going to get down the line something that uses the AVX extension cause my rig to lock up. Should, I ultimately be looking to get it stable, with a stress test that uses the AVX extensions. To be fair I had only used Realbench, Aida and IBT to test my overclocks until now. But I dont like there being some "underlying" instability. If that makes sense.
  17. Hi Guys, Been tweaking my overclock. I am currently running 4.9ghz at 1.3v on my 7700k. If I use IBT the system stable, Real Bench the system stable, cinebench the system is again stable. Gaming and productivity wise, I haven't seen any crashes, lock ups, or instability with the above settings, until I test with Prime 95. So, if I use Prime 95 version 26.6 the system is stable for long runs and temps well around 70 degress under 100% load, however as soon as I start testing a on Prime 95 version 29.3, I have several cores fail instantly and hwinfo reporting temps of well over 85 degrees. Any ideas what is going on here, would you consider the system stable? Why does a newer version of prime cause issues, should I be gauging the "health" of my overclock on version 26.6 or 29.3? I am lost here. Cheers Chris.
  18. The PG278QR looks awesome. Thanks man ?
  19. Probably around 500 GBP. Ill use the current 27 inch panel for stuff whilst gaming youtube, teamspeak, discord etc In terms of 32 gig of ram. A friend was upgrading and i got for a good price... he has just upgrade his x299 system an uses the same white led corsair ram i do. He is very much high end and has more money then sense imo. But the few comments above do nothing but highlight some of issues i have with pcmr and i have building tinkering for a good few years now.
  20. I do run some vms, as well as some video/photo work for work. To be fair probably should have put the money towards a decent monitor.
  21. Hi Guys - thought I'd post my rig. Upgraded a few months ago. I thought I'd jump in a show you guys my rig and see what you thought. It replaced an aging AMD FX 8370 with 2 RX 480's crossfire in. I managed to sell these for nearly £700, which bought the 1080ti. Just need to run the heating these days as not so much heat produced from this one. I have just ordered another set 2x8gig ram, which will take it to 32gigs and I am currently selecting a 144hz/1440p monitor. If you guys have any suggestions for this I would be grateful but with xmas round the corner, it may have to be somewhat budget friendly... the screen tearing on my 1080p/60hz is horrific currently (managed to overclock the panel to 82hz but it has very little improvement) I must say I am a bit disappointed with the 400c case. It is was difficult to cable manage, very hard to get decent airflow and you have to remove both side panels to get at the front dust filter. (It was bought when I realized I didn't have space in my old case to mount the AIO) It was an emergency trip to Maplins, just before closing, which is on the same street that I live here in the UK) Desk is a bit cramped, have sorted out the office/man cave yet... Specifications are:- CPU: Intel Core i7-7700k @ 4.8ghz | Motherboard: GIGABYTE Gaming Z270XP-SLI | Graphics Card: AORUS GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti | RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance 3200mz |Storage: 1 x Samsung 250GB 960 Evo PCIe NVMe | 2 x Seagate 1TB [raid1] - overflow stuff | 2 x Samsung 850 EVO 500gb [raid0] - games | PSU: Corsair CX750M | Case: Corsair 400C | Cooling: Kraken x62 AIO | 3 x Corsair AF140 | 1x Noctua NF-F12 | Sound: Soundblaster Zx What are your thoughts on the daisy chained pci-e cable. I used a friends FLIR camera and got just a 5 degrees delta on the cable itself... Although have been doing some research into using it following a Jayztwocents video. Great to hear your feedback Chris.
