It was time to get a new vehicle, as my 2018 Jetta really didn't suit our needs anymore. It's struggled badly in the winters here in Reno, and it's getting harder for my wife to get in due to her bad back. It also got damaged in an accident at work by a drunk moron who crashed into in three times (here's a picture of the damage: https://i.ibb.co/RYjdSjw/20240220-113544.jpg).

After shopping around for a while, I narrowed it down to the EcoSport and the Kona, and ultimately decided on the EcoSport (the recent issues with Hyundai/Kia cars being stolen helped in that regard as well). I've had it for almost two weeks now and I'm super happy with it.

I know the EcoSports kinda get crapped on (and some of it's justified, the models with the 1.0, 3 Cylinder engine are crap, mine doesn't have that engine), but it suits our needs perfectly. I'm not someone who wants all the bells and whistles in my car, I just want it to get me where I need to go without any issues. The EcoSport has enough modern features to make me happy, but it's still very basic (most things are controlled via buttons as opposed to the touchscreen, for example). We wanted a smaller 4x4 Crossover that will allow us to go up into the mountains (see the picture above, I wouldn't dream of taking my Jetta there due to how bad the road going in was), but didn't break the bank to much.

My next goal is to get a tow-hitch installed so that I can put my bike carrier on it and actually be able to take my bike to some places I wasn't able to get to with my Jetta.

That whole day was a mess.

He hit my car, hit another car who was turning, almost ran that driver over when she got out to try to get his information, then crashed his truck into a tree across the street.

And just to top the entire mess off, he didn't have any insurance.

You have no idea how much I hate the parking lot where I work.

We can perfectly discuss the social media manager position and forum moderation, because the two positions share a lot of overlap in how they deal with social media, community and both are subjected to similar forms of abuse. I don't understand why you are trying to differentiate the two.

Similarly, I don't understand why you are trying to deflect from my criticism that LMG does not have tools in place to protect their workers from abuse, whether that abuse is internally or externally to the company is semantics and doesn't matter. It also does not matter whether that person is a man or female, both should be protected and both should get the benefit of the doubt when they are bringing forward sexual allegations against a company or a person.

Let's be real here and look at the facts, the amount of sexual inappropriate conduct woman on the workfloor have to deal with is astronomically higher than what men have to deal with. That's both due to culture where the women is/was seen as the weaker sex and that we took way too long to properly address these misconducts in the past. We're playing catch-up in that sense in a global scale. I'm not justifying abuse against males here but it's obvious that it's a much bigger problem for the female workforce than for the male workforce.

I am aware that Linus gets abuse, but it is not his job to deal with abuse that is targeted at him or the company, that is the Social Media Manager's job which brings me back to the point I originally raised where there should be guardrails in place to help those people deal with the amount of abuse they are forced to deal with on a daily basis. It's also deflecting away from the case at hand which was Madison being put in a position that made her feel uncomfortable and receiving no help from inside the company.

And then there is also the issue where most of the abuse Linus gets is due to him putting his own head on the chopping block by speaking his unfiltered views, which more often than not cause these community backlashes and abuse that are specifically targetting him. The man is his own worst enemy.

You are cherry picking from my post, if you read my post I said that I wanted guardrails in place for people working at LTT, and specifically people that have to deal with the abuse posted on social media.

Why do you have an opinion on something you obviously know nothing about?
An employer has the duty of care for their employees. This means a proper risk assessment of any task an employee would do as well as a review process of the work environment, if problems are reported or become known.
Your "deal with it" approach will get you fined or charged with criminal negligence in any developed country.

It is a different level though, American's will instantly put an M mature audience rating if there is a topless women. But violence? Guns? Murder? Well as long as you don't have blood you are A OK for PG.....likewise you can drop the F-bomb once and remain PG but a female breast? Outrageous!!

They also seem to treat anyone under the age of 18 having sex as a rape victim, except that rather bizarre 'Romeo and Juliet' law that exists purely to prevent a 19 year old being charged as rapist for having sex with their 17 year old girlfriend of 3 years.

It's not like it's open season for nudists and public sex acts in the rest of the world but America as a whole is certainly more prudish then other western nations

never mind you the endless jokes she made about her bodly fuctions or gentials

clearly she was not emotionally ready to be subjected to the internet so the question is again why was she in social media?

that arugment holds as much water as a fork folks.  15 minutes of scrolling her twitter should convince you that she has NO problem handling "sexually explicit comments"

we can all agree tho shes does have serious mental health issues tho what kind of reasonable person enjoys  mean jokes about somebody bleeding out or brags about the shape of her vagina

you people aren't seeing her for what she really is because you are convinced shes a victum: real talk shes not shes a nutbag that likely got exactly what she was giving others

    A couple of things:
    1) Harm is a legal definition here, not a personal one. And yes, in pretty much every developed nation, that would be considered harm, including in Canada where the whole thing happened

    2) Harm is relative, and what's fine for one person may be harmful for another.

    3) Regardless of whether you like it or not, the employer has a responsibility to protect their employee from harm, especially when said harm manifested from their own joke.

I realize that Americans have a weird theory that all sexuality is magically traumatizing and that official reality is that it's somehow "sexual harassment" to be exposed to any expression, even by random people on the internet, if you self-identify as incapable of handling it.

It's utter nonsense, and if you can't handle humanity, don't get a social media job.  Americans are WRONG.

If she can't handle the way humanity is on the internet, then she has a mental problem and the wrong job which is no one's fault.

But all of the other complaints were very serious.  She should have left that one off.

LMG is NEVER going to sue her, NEVER. Even if they discover internally she massively exaggerated accusations out of spite they still wouldn't. The backlash would be insane because no-one would trust the results of their investigation and the court case would drag on for years and speculations would cause massive damage to LMG's reputation (which it already has but not to this magnitude).

Madison does have her reputation to lose for what that's worth. After having left LMG she would likely have faded in obscurity and you might say she posted this "testimony" because she wished to come back into the limelight and this is one of the opinions you see floating around as to why she did it regardless of whether her accusations are true or not. It's more likely she felt wronged by LMG and also felt it wasn't right that they acted as if they were this cool friendly company when she had experienced a darker side and wanted to expose it as a kind of retribution for what she had gone through. The Gamer Nexus "hit piece" opened the door to do this and she took her chance.

You don’t really need to go on social media to have a grasp on the reality that is being a victim of bullying and sexual harassment, and the shame and prejudice that people like you put on victims, which then get immediately attacked when they come forward, by people like you, on forum like this. You only need to talk to women. Not the JPG kind. The actual, flesh and blood, women, that are out there.

I wonder if Linus himself would be proud of the stuff I’m reading here.
