  1. Another one I saw good reviews is the EVGA SuperNOVA G6 650W 80+ Gold Full Modular at 100€ around here.
  2. thanks, I'm in Portugal. the GX 850 is 140€ around here the only seasonic close in price and in stock is the Seasonic Core GM 650W 80 Plus Gold Semi Modular at 90€
  3. I'm looking to upgrade from a bitfenix formula gold 450W to something around 550W to make sure my new cpu+gpu combo work in stable conditions. I want a very good PSU with all the modern protections, that is well built and stable. Also need it to be as quiet as possible as my current one is basicaly silent. The build has a CPU 5800x, GPU RX 5700, 4 DDR4 at 1.35V, 1 SSD, 1 nvme, 1 HDD plus a few assorted USB things. In my country the brands I can usually get are Asus, Cooler Master, Corsair, some EVGA, Kolink, Seasonic, some Aerocool, some Fractal Design. For the price range around 80€, filtering by 80+ Gold, some of the contenders are: Seasonic Focus Gold GX 550W 80 Plus Gold Full Modular - 80€ Kolink Enclave 600W 80 Plus Gold - 70€ Be quiet Pure Power 11 500W - 82€ Be quiet Pure Power 11 600W - 88€ Is the Seasonic Focus Gold GX a good PSU? I remember from jonnyguru days that Seasonic had rested a bit on their good PSUs and now oversell stuff that is very very old but I don't know about this model. Is Kolink any good? Their prices are really cheap but they do have Gold certificate. The review I saw has decent results but I know nothing about build quality or longevity. Any other suggestions around 80€?
  4. what software do you recommend to see fan speeds and adjust them? I'm very much suspecting of a faulty fan, I'll see if I can try it out with other fans and see if it's mobo or fan problem. The cooler comes with 2 fans and it also seem it's only 1 fan having this issue!
  5. In BIOS or in windows, controlling the fan doesn't seem to work. Whatever I do they are always at 1500 rpm. In windows I'm using Asus fan Xpert 2. It has a 'fan tuning' mode that tests the fan and it basically says the fan is always at 1500rpm, no matter the input
  6. they do have 4 pins, it just that they seem to work or be properly managed by the motherboard (is that even possible?)
  7. Tried it on chassis fan header and cpu fan header with the same results. On the chassis I can set the fan to DC mode and I can control it's speed that way.
  8. it's using the cpu temp, I think I can't actually change that. A static fan speed of 20,50 or 100% results in the same thing: 1500rpm. I tried connecting a noctua fan to the CPU header and it seems to perform correctly, stopping the fan, reducing the rpm and all that. Faulty fans?
  9. I'm setting a fan curve on BIOS but the lowest setting it allows to do is 50% of fan speed which I also find a bit odd. either way the fan seems to always be at 100% and not following my 'curve'.
  10. I bought a Peerless Assassin 120 that comes with 2 fans that are supposed to be PWM but when I connected them (mobo: Asus TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS) it seems I can't configure their speed on the BIOS to be less than 50% and even at 50% they are always reporting to be running at 1500rpm. They seem to just always run at full speed. I tried debugging them by connecting to the chassis fan and it's the same if I choose PWM. If I select to control them as DC then I can lower their speed and see lower RPM from them. The motherboard doesn't allow to select DC/PWM for CPU fans. The fans are connected directly to the mobo. Is this a faulty product or mobo not working properly with them or any other idea?
  11. Thank you very much for your suggestions, I also always had that doubt about the SE. I'll investigate if the PA120SE will fit properly with my RAM and all of that. The SE is actually more expensive today (prices float a lot) so today it's PA120 -42€ PA120 SE - 47€. I would probably just get the cheaper one at the time. Problem with noctua is it's price tag. It's 100€. For 100€ I don't buy my intended 5800x but the 5800x3d which would be a great upgrade Although I do have some coupons and partner discounts so my final prices would be: noctua D12L - 52€ PA 120 - 34€ thanks again for great feedback
  12. Looks like I get them from amazon.es. peerless assassin 120 at 55€ peerless assassin 120 SE at 42€ They are cheaper with probably same performance. Question is: are they gonna be quieter than a noctua?
  13. Would love that but can’t get thermal right stuff in my country and my local Amazon has those very very overpriced so it makes them similar to noctua
  14. I need to a buy a new cooler for a 5800x to put on a case cooler master silencio 352. My main goal with this upgrade is to be as quiet as possible in low usage of the cpu. I was gonna buy the D12L to fit my case since it says the limit for the cooler is 155mm but I've since saw many builds with that case using 158mm coolers so it seems there's a bit of tolerance there. Per Noctua performance rating the U12A is better and in my country it's only 7€ more expensive than the D12L. My question is if the U12A will be quieter and is worth the extra bucks or the D12L is more than enough for my needs?
  15. I have some Sennheiser PC 8 USB that has served me very well over the years but now I want to change to wireless to remove wires from my desk. I can only find 'gaming' wireless headsets that I suspect don't have that good mic quality or very very expensive stuff like the "ADAPT 260 EPOS I SENNHEISER". I don't need good sound quality, just really the basic but I need a microphone at least as good as I have right now. Is there any wireless headset around 50 $/€ that has a good mic? Any suggestions? can also increase the budget a little bit.
  16. I game at either 1080p or 1440p when the GPU holds it, I have a 2 monitor setup. GPU: RX 5700. Again, I know it's very unlikely I'll notice the CPU difference in any usage but it's also 'just' 30€ My doubt is more that if I get the 5800x and on light loads the 'noise' will be higher (since higher TDP, more power draw, more fan spinning, etc). I'm just afraid because of the higher TDP
  17. According to this review, the 5800x @ 1080 has 5% better gaming performance. Probably not very noticeable before the GPU starts to limit me but it's also 'only' 30€ more, that's where my doubt came.
  18. oh. I was thinking of getting the 5800x and "underclocking it", but from what you say, it makes more sense to get the 5700x, better cooler and if needed 'overclock' it to 5800x levels? is that possible to just change the TDP of 5700x to the one of 5800x?
  19. My idea was to make the 5800x the 'same' as 5700x and when I want to game, change it back to default if that's easy to do.
  20. In my country, local prices are 5700x - 190€ and the 5800x is about 30€ more. I was always inclined to get the 5700x because of the lower TDP. I mainly use the PC for light usages and just 30% for gaming where I need the CPU power. For 70% of the time I value very much low noise levels and the energy saving helps. But now the prices changed a bit and the 5800x is 'only' 30€ more. Would the 5800x at 'light usage' cause the same noise levels / power draw of the 5700x? Can I actually make the 5800x behave the same as a 5700x with the AMD ryzen master tool? I do have the budget to go for the 5800x, I'm just concerned for the noise levels: I try to invest in good coolers and quiet cases because I value low noise. I'll buy a good, overpowered cooler to try to keep fans at low levels. I know the gaming difference between them is about 5% at most. So... what would you do?
  21. I own a Cooler Master SILENCIO 352 case and I'm going to upgrade to a 5600x (or 5700x) soon (currently with a 2400G). Currently when I'm idling or at low cpu usage the thing I hear the most is clearly the stock AMD cooler so I want to upgrade to a VERY SILENT cpu cooler with the limitation of 155mm height. My RAM is also 24mm height. I don't care about OC, I care very much about noise and a good enough performance to handle the cpu properly. Around here I can't buy Scythe so easier brands to find are be-quiet, noctua, artic freezer and cooler master. I don't have a specific budget because I'm willing to pay if the cooler is really more silent than a cheaper one but of course I don't want to pay extra for nothing What are the best brands known for really silent usage? Right now on my list of coolers that fit: be-quiet pure rock slim 2 - 25€ Noctua NH-U9S - 54€ Noctua C14S - 80€ Artic Freezer A13X CO - 23€ Is the Pure Rock slim 2 good enough an improvement from the stock AMD coolers in terms of noise or should I go to the Noctua U9S that is double the price? Or should I get the cheaper one and buy a 92mm noctua fan?
  22. I want to buy a gift for a teenager that spends some time playing CS:GO and mainly racing games. From the list of my local store I selected these two as good candidates being in a nice 'sale promotion' around here. Logitech G Pro X Gaming 7.1 - 60€ Corsair HS60: 55€ What is the best headset? Or should I just get the Razer Kraken X for 40€ and that is 'good' enough? Right now I'm heavily leaning towards the Logitech G Pro X The full list of 7.1 headsets from known brands and prices around here, in case anyone spots a much better alternative: Razer Blackshark V2 X 7.1 - 60€ Logitech G Pro X Gaming 7.1 - 60€ HyperX Cloud Stinger S 7.1 - 56€ Logitech G432 7.1 - 54€ Razer Kraken 2019 7.1 - 50€ Sharkoon B2 USB 7.1 - 50€ MSI DS502 Gaming 7.1 - 49€ Asus TUF Gaming H3 7.1 - 46€ Asus TUF Gaming H1 7.1 - 46€ Razer Kraken X 7.1: 40€
  23. Just go to a big brand store and buy all the HDMI/USB cables available and test them all out. Then buy the cheapest ones from aliexpress and figure if the higher prices are worth it.
