Isn't it sad how forums are dying as a social platform? LTT is the only lively one I know left.

I love how you can read extremely old threads, ideas, discussions. Now with "modern" platforms all this sharing of ideas is forever lost in an unindexable chat or timeline that does not allow for an easy search of information.

Level1Techs is decently active but not quite to the level of LTT.

I think you're forgetting quite possibly the largest forum ever. Reddit.

@dizmo I prefer to think of Reddit as a link aggregator (which is what it was meant to be after all).

It is not as organised as traditional forums. For example, there are no categories, and flairs do not really make up for them.

What do you mean there's no categories? There's loads. What do you think things like /hardwareswap and /til are?

@dizmo They are not comparable to a forum structure.

A forum is usually about a somewhat broad subject (e.g. PCs) and has categories related to it.

Reddit is too dispersive as a whole platform, and subreddits can be too specific.

I am not saying Reddit is bad, because I use it a ton, but we are comapring apples to oranges.

    Still completely disagree with you.

@dizmoFair enough, the world is interesting because it's different :P
