  1. I will try to format the USB before creating a new Win 10 installation media, thank you for your informative reply!
  2. I have an old retail Win 10 USB, but seeing as it's old, I want to create a new windows 10 installation media on it. I think it's simple, just plug into PC and create installation media, but now I'm unsure. Are there any steps I need to do before hand before reusing this USB? Is this USB even reusable in this sense? Thank you in advance to anyone who helps me!
  3. Thanks everyone for your input, we went with UEFI.
  4. My brother needs to reinstall windows 10 due to some os issues. He wants to start fresh. Which USB version should he choose? UEFI or the standard USB? Thanks in advance for any help!
  5. Thank you everyone for your help. I'm very grateful. ^^
  6. Hi, I want to buy this https://www.tripplite.com/isobar-4-outlet-surge-protector-6-ft-cord-3300-joules-diagnostic-leds~ISOBAR4ULTRA My PC has an 850 watt psu, and will be the only thing plugged into this surge protector for a while. The surge protector has 4 outlets. My question is if in the meantime, having only one device plugged in is bad?
  7. Thank you for your replies! I will switch from HDMI to DP in the morning.
  8. I have an Omen 25 inch 1080p monitor ( http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/omen-by-hp-25-display ) that can run at 144hz. However, from reading online, I'm getting confused. On the monitor's website, the signal input connectors are: HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort™ 1.2. It came with both those cables. I've read two responses where it is stated that HDMI 1.4 can run 144hz, but the rest say that only DisplayPort can run 144hz. Question is, which one do I use to reach 144hz? Can both HDMI 1.4 and DP 1.2 do it? According to Wikipedia, they can. In the screen capture below, HDMI 1.3–1.4b reaches 144hz, but I just want a clear answer to make sure I'm using the correct cable. Thank you to anyone who goes out of their way to help me out!!
  9. OMG!! I'm so dull!!! My biggest mistake was not enabling USB to turn on PC. *facepalm* I'm sorry for wasting everyone's time, but you all pushed me to double check my bios settings. Thanks! It works now!!
  10. PS: When the computer is asleep, the mouse continues to have power, just doesn't wake up my pc.
  11. I did everything you said plus enabled mouse to wake up pc in bios...Guess I'm doomed to forever wake my computer from the on and off button. It's not a big deal, I just don't want to damage anything.
  12. Hm, I'll see if I can activate the mouse in BIOS. I'll be back. Thanks everyone for your help Hope I don't mess up.
  13. Thanks!! Does anyone have any tips on how to specifically make my bios let my mouse awake with the keyboard? Maybe I entered the wrong area in the BIOS, but it let me add a combination of keys that I wanted for waking up my computer. Anyone knowledgeable in this field?
  14. Hey, this might be a completely stupid question, but I'd like to know if waking my computer from sleep via the on/off button on the case will have any long term problems? I went into the device manager and made sure that my keyboard or mouse can wake the computer, even checked if the 'allow computer to turn off device' boxes were unchecked. I went into the BIOS and tried to add a combination of two keys on my keyboard in order to awake my pc, but...nothing worked. Thank you to anyone who helps me out!! This community is amazing and I'm at a loss for words at how helpful you all are!
