Im building a PC for a friend and i need help deciding whether i should go for 3600mhz ram
Whenever i check i never get a solid "yes" answer to whether i should choose 3200 or 3600 mhz
The list:
PCPartPicker Part List: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/2fgsf9
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 3.9 GHz 8-Core Processor (£297.89 @ Amazon UK)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i RGB PLATINUM 75 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (£122.98 @ CCL Computers)
Motherboard: MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI ATX AM4 Motherboard (£188.40 @ Alza)
Memory: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (£182.01 @ Newegg UK)
Storage: Western Digital Blue 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£59.97 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£52.88 @ CCL Computers)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER 4 GB Gaming X Video Card (£188.99 @ Amazon UK)
Case: be quiet! Pure Base 500 ATX Mid Tower Case (£96.48 @ Amazon UK)
Power Supply: be quiet! Straight Power 11 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (£99.98 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £1289.58
Should i swap out the RAM for the 3600 variant?
Also feel free to recommend any swaps in the build, might change the 1650 for something better.

What software are you using for video editing ?
The build is not for me. Im assuming its premiere pro or one of the common ones

with your budget, get a 3900x and a x570 board
Should i get an AIO cooler?

Budget (including currency): 1200ish GBP, can be higher though
Country: UK
Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Image editing, video editing, maybe light games, admin things for work
Other details
PCPartPicker Part List: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/gqxLBZ
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor (£260.73 @ Amazon UK)
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X53 73.11 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (£119.99 @ Box Limited)
Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B450-E GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard (£145.47 @ Scan.co.uk)
Memory: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory (£188.36 @ CCL Computers)
Storage: Western Digital Blue 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£59.97 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£52.88 @ CCL Computers)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon RX 580 4 GB NITRO+ Video Card (£213.99 @ Amazon UK)
Case: be quiet! Pure Base 500 ATX Mid Tower Case (£94.03 @ Novatech)
Power Supply: be quiet! Straight Power 11 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (£99.98 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £1235.40
Is this a good list? Should i choose the 9700k over the 3700x?
Also, does the motherboard need a bios update for 3000 support? The asus website says yes but some other places say no.

You setup audio from Windows audio settings. HDMI you are gonna use for video can carry audio too. As your headset is default audio device, you set HDMI to listen it. You can use virtual audio solution too, if you want to tweak how audio is transferred.
Thank you,
Also, i play on a 144hz monitor and play all my games at 1080p 144. Wouldnt cloning my screen for the capture card then lock my display to 60hz. Theres a method that you use your obs preview but it really lowers the quality. Do you know if theres anyway i would not get locked to 60hz, my laptop display is 120hz so i shouldnt be locked to 60 right?

Sorry in advance if this is in the wrong section.
I have my gaming desktop and a gaming laptop.
My desktop has a Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB 3000Mhz and 1060 6GB while my laptop as a Ryzen 5 (i forgot which variant), 16GB of RAM and a 1660. I was thinking of getting a capture card (maybe an avermedia or elgato one) and have my desktop as my gaming pc and my laptop as my dedicated streaming PC.
I have been doing a bit of research and i think i get the gist of how to set it all up. I am just unsure on if i will have any issues with my headset which is the steel series arctis 5. Its wireless and has a dongle which also has a 3.5mm jack on it.
Can anyone explain to me how i would be able to have the capture card pick up the audio from my headset. Would i just have to run a 3.5mm cable from the 3.5mm output on the dongle to the input on the capture card.
Also, would i have any issues with this setup.
Sorry if this is a silly question, i just want to make sure i know what i am doing before i decide to go with it.
Thanks in advance.

That's a green label, yeah. You may want to look into a better one - CX550 (Grey label) or anything of a similar grade
Isnt it sufficient though, shouldnt i be able to just use my one for a bit then upgrade

That's a pretty high end config all things considered. Just make sure you don't have an old green label Corsair power supply - those had heat issues and I wouldn't trust them
I'm gonna open my pc in a few to check what psu I have, it's a cx500 pretty sure

You'll be using x264, x265, whatever your heart desires. NVENC is not magic. It's efficient and good but it's not world-shattering. IF it were, the 2000 series would be selling like hot cakes
I should be doing fine then with a ryzen 5 3600 and an rx5700xt
Thank you for your help, i think ill settle on the red dragon card

Just now, 5x5 said:
NVENC is only a reason to pay more if streaming is your job. Not a hobby.
So if i were to get a 5700xt i would have to use x264, or would i still be able to use nvenc at all
-
Just now, 5x5 said:
Not really - you're looking at 100-150 GBP more for a decent 2070S. The 5700XT can also stream and record gameplay perfectly fine with the ReLive software or OBS (arguably the best software suite for streaming and recording. I personally prefer OBS over Shadowplay since I get less corruption)
i use obs, shadowplay is just to get clips sincei get get my last 2 mins or so of gameplay

RTX is still in infant stages - not exactly going to last on the 2000 series. RTX 3000 models will likely have 2-3x better Ray Tracing Performance - that's where it's at. As for NVENC - that's a good feature for streamers. Won't matter for anyone else tho.
Just now, Mister Woof said:2070 Super also has NVENC and RTX, so you're also getting some good features if those matter to you.
For $40 more compared to the high-end 5700 XT models, I think it's worth it for a "maybe use". For $100 more than the low-end 5700 XTs, not at all unless you know for sure you need those features.
I use my pc for some occasional streaming etc so nvenc is a +, and i use shadowplay a lot to record past gameplay
Should i look into 2070s if i wanna keep those features and get the same performance as a 5700xt?

Just now, Mister Woof said:
Red Dragon it is then. I enjoy my 5700 XT for sure, great performance.
What do i compare it to against nvidia cards, is it similar to a 2070
-
Just now, Mister Woof said:
I agree, but it can be really tough to justify for pricing.
$369 RAW II vs $409 Red Dragon vs. $439 Red Devil vs. $462 for the Nitro+
Personally for me, any of the GPUs in the mid-$400 range I would rather just get a 2070 Super.
The red dragon is the same same price on amazon as the msi and xfx onw

Depends on the model - a quality 400W unit can handle it. A garbage 1000W unit cannot
Its a Corsair 500w, 80+ bronze im pretty sure, cant remember the model
-
Just now, 5x5 said:
The Red Dragon is FAR superior - the MECH from MSI is utter garbage and overheats the memory. The cooler on the XFX model is too small and overheats as well.
Would my 500W PSU be sufficient?

Just get the Red Dragon - it's a VERY good cooler and it's cheap
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/ZZZzK8/powercolor-radeon-rx-5700-xt-8-gb-red-dragon-video-card-axrx-5700-xt-8gbd6-3dhrocIts roughly the same pricewise as this XFX one https://www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-Radeon-5700XT-RAW-Ultra/dp/B07YG5VGTC/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=rx+5700+xt&qid=1585860695&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&smid=A206ULAR6UT9T8&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExVUpJWU80Q0dJNSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRJZD1BMDgwMDA4MDFRT05SRUhGRDdCRFMmZW5jcnlwdGVkQWRJZD1BMDcwMDQ3OTFVVkRaRFdIOFBPNVMmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl
and this msi one
Should i just go for preference or is the red dragon xt superiror
Just now, 5x5 said:The 5700 XT Pulse is also cheap
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/3YTzK8/sapphire-radeon-rx-5700-xt-8-gb-pulse-video-card-11293-01-20gThe pulse one is slightly out of my budget

Just now, 5x5 said:
It's 20% faster than the non XT. It's more than worth it. That's a jump from 180fps to 220fps basically
Ah wow, should i completely avoid that asus tuf one
-
Just now, 5x5 said:
If you can afford it, the XT is the obvious choice
its 100 more gbp and i dont think the extra 100 is worth it
how much better is the xt

Sapphire Pulse or PowerColor Red Devil
xt or regular 5700?
-
Just now, toasty99 said:
You should not get that card. Apparently it has no vrm cooling.
Now, it's actually quite a simple fix... But it voids the warranty.
Is the different between the xt and 5700 a lot?
-
Just now, toasty99 said:
The 5700xt at similar prices is definitely the better choice. I'd say if within $30 buy a XT. At $50 or more the question gets interesting. The 5700 has a lot more overclocking headroom. You can bios flash a XT bios to a 5700 and really pick up some performance.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.techspot.com/amp/review/1917-amd-radeon-5700-bios-flash-5700-xt/
The asus tuf xt one i linked is cheaper than some 5700s, but apparently it has bad cooling and its apparently the worst xt. Should i go for it since its so cheap

Go for the 5700 XT, it's worth it for 144hz
Is the asus one i linked worth it despite all the negative reviews on cooling etc

Looking to upgrade from my 1060
I have a ryzen 5 3600 with 16GB 3000MHZ Ram
Im currently looking at the rx5700 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-Radeon-5700-Boost-Ultra/dp/B07XVMXBQW/ref=sr_1_14?dchild=1&keywords=rx5700xt&qid=1585858191&sr=8-14 these 2 models https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-Radeon-RX-5700-Gaming/dp/B07TZKT8DQ/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=gigabyte%2Brx5700xt&qid=1585858165&sr=8-1&th=1 )
Should i go the little extra for the xt versions
https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-Space-grade-Resistance-Auto-Extreme-Compatibility/dp/B07WFQPLMX/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=rx5700xt&qid=1585858491&sr=8-1 There is this xt version but apparently its very bad
Do you recommend any other GPUs i should upgrade to?
I want to be able to run games at 144+ FPS while still having above 144 while having OBS open, which should mean i should be running the games at 200ish avg FPS to ensure i dont go below from the FPS drops.
The games i play are modern warfare, overwatch, rainbow 6 siege and some more. I dont mind turning all settings to low since its what i usually do. My GPU can currently do Overwatch at 200fps avg but i see a lot of fps dips when having obs open with siege and modernwarfare can become hard to play since i struggle to get over 100fps.
Thanks in advance.
Ram help with build

Thank you for your help, wouldnt i need to update the bios of the b450-f? Or is it 3000 ready out of the box? Also this build is mainly a workstation PC, barely any gaming will be done on it so thats why i went for an underpowered gpu and a better CPU.
