Cool. I’ll wait until my 3 way splitters are here. I should then have enough spots to plug the 3 in. Since I have 6 fan connections but only 2 fan headers

I have a Costco membership and there are two TVs I have my eye one. One is a 49" 4k Samsung and the other is a 50" 4k LG. Both are $419. I'm wondering if maybe I should wait for black Friday or not since there are always TVs on sale then? I'm not sure since last year models similar to these went for around $400 but cost significantly more at full price. So I'm wondering if there will be anything sub $400 for a sizable 4k TV on black Friday now that these TVs are main stream

If you don't have the hardware to handle 4k, go with the ultrawide. Even if it is future proofing, use the money you save to invest in hardware to actually use 4k when that time comes

Well, yeah since you're going to use it for Adobe suite and other multicore applications, definitely stick with the i7 then.

What are you going to use this for? Only gaming? If so, you might be fine using an i5 8600k and using the money to get ram with better speed. Gaming isn't really multithread intensive, so that's the only reason I say that

I would've gone with the 1700. Overclocks to around the same frequency and it costs less. Comes with the free cooler too. Although you need a better one for overclocking anyways, so it doesn't really make a difference.

Get the 1080 Ti it is MUCH faster than the P4000. (Unless you need 10 bit color)

Need help figuring out how to make the cable management system look better. The goal is to have all cables guided down to the bottom slot where the surge protector is stored.

Schraufabagel reacted to InsolentGnome in 【MSI PRO MOD –S5: Demonstration】Crevasse: The Mei Machine [Completed]
Hey everyone, welcome to MSI's PRO MOD Season 5!  My name is Dave Cathey, or InsolentGnome as a lot of folks know me.  I hail from the US and I've been picked as a judge for this season.  I know...crazy!  Who in their right minds lets a gnome be a judge, let alone an insolent one, right?  Part of the judging duties is to make a demonstration mod with the Arctic theme with the sponsor's hardware, which is some pretty nice kit, but let's start off with the theme...
This mod is named Crevasse.  A crevasse is basically a crevice, but in a glacier.  Crack in rock...crevice.  Crack in ice...crevasse.  It just sounds fancier, like a swan ice sculpture.  The idea for the case is to appear to be a crevasse in an ice shelf that has opened up to reveal an inner cave.  While it won't be as dramatic as it sounds, I think it should turn out pretty cool.  Get it?  Yeah, the puns will be out in force with this worklog.
For hardware, I'm starting off with the In Win 303 in white.

The motherboard is the MSI B350 Tomahawk Arctic.

And yes, you read that correctly, B350 so this baby is gonna have a new AMD Ryzen chip, the Ryzen 7 1700X to be specific.

Cooling for our Ryzen chip will be handled by the new MSI Core Frozr L tower cooler.

Populating the memory slots will be 16GB(4x4GB) of HyperX Predator DDR4 @3000MHz

Storage will be a HyperX 240GB Predator PCIe SSD in the M.2 slot.

Power is coming from a Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 11 1000w PSU.

And case airflow will be handled by Be Quiet! Silent Wings 3 fans.  Three 120mm and two 140mm.

I'm still waiting on some of the other hardware and will update as soon as it arrives.
The first thing we need to to with all this nice hardware is to set it up and get the board updated since that's been an issue with Ryzen.  Break out the Open Benchtable.

This thing is pretty slick and lets you bench up a system pretty easily.

I know that the GPU coming is supposed to be a RX580, but all I had with an air cooler laying around was a GTX 760, but it will let me get started.  Now to find a monitor...

This is the build log for my first pc build along with the custom desk I'm building. Here are the renders for the desk; I'll be creating it from restored barn wood I have to give it a very cool look. All of my electronics are black for a neutral color that won't draw from the desk.

The center slider is for my general use. My keyboard and mouse will be on the desk top itself. The right hand slider is for stowing my laptop. The drawers on the left are for electronics and cables and the bottom one is for my filing storage.

The cutout in the right side is where my tempered glass pc will sit once I build it this summer.

The cutout on the bottom left (actually right side) is for my 12 outlet surge protector where everything will be plugged in.

EDIT: I added in a secondary level to put my NAS, Modem, and Router on top of. One of my xbox's will go under the stand and will my connected via my HDMI switch to my gaming monitor. I'll get an elgato to use for recording my gameplay.

I need input on how to better address cable management. At the moment I have the channels that will work well for guiding the cables from the top. BUT, I need to figure out a way to hide my cables coming from my two monitors and my keyboard/mouse from the middle and pull out tray. All of these cables will be guided down into the surge protector slot. I could offset the back walls to leave an indent of 1" for all cables. This way they can't be seen from the front.

Cool. Right now I have a 29" LG ultrawide at 60hz. Looking to upgrade to one for 1440p. The only road bump is the graphics required to run it.

Honestly, most of the 3d work depends on how large the extent of each project. Xeon would be the safer bet if your budget allows for it. But if your looking for price to performance ratio, an overclocked ryzen 7 chip should theoretically be able to handle large 3d projects smoothly. Also, I'm no expert in graphics cards, but Quadra us specially designed for 3d workstations, so they might excel better than the titan lineup would.

Go with something 3000mhz or less for ram. 2666 is usually the sweet spot until higher speeds can be taken advantage of. Also, I'd recommend the Cryorig H7 for overclocking. Or the Be Quiet! DARK Rock 3 if you want something a bit more high end

You can find os for less than $30. This should be perfect for running 3D rendering and 60fps 1080p on medium settings.

I agree with this. The biggest flaw is that he shouldn't go with an 1800x when he can get the cheaper 1700 and overclock it to get nearly identical results.
