1. LGA is safer because a motherboard is more difficult to accidentally drop. Even if you do drop it, impacts to the front face usually hits the I/O or heatsinks first and not the socket. 2. Big air coolers are a thing for over a decade now, so does power hogs that necessitates them (if you don't want to go liquid that is). And being bugged by older people telling me "to do more research before asking questions, I don't have time" for so many years makes reading your rant funny lol. 3. Thermal pads have their own set of problems too, mainly their lesser performance. Maybe you got too fluidy paste, there are more sticky options that behave more like peanut butter and wouldn't actively spill everywhere as long as you don't apply too much. For the BIOS update problem, that's partly because AM4 isn't very mature and still require compatibility updates every once in a while, partly because AM4's long lifespan. Working with new CPUs that didn't exist when they sold you the board has that side effect. Would you rather pay for a new board along with every new CPU instead?

Motherboard VRM Tier List v2 (currently AMD only)
Jurrunio replied to Jurrunio's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Asus X570-I should be the best out of the 3, without looking at the exact price available today. But thing with AM4 ITX boards is that B550 and X570 products are often 99% identical with a not so identical price, so maybe consider their B550 counterparts as well -

Yes Tuf pro ii is better for components but it shouldnt make any difference with just an R5 -

Stick with a downdraft air cooler and you would be fine -

A screenshot of a test post of the tier list before I made it public back from 2019. M-K boards are down in tier F from the beginning. Or maybe you read that from the older motherboard tier list made by someone I forgot the name of (this is v2 after all, I didn't make v1) -
Motherboard VRM Tier List v2 (currently AMD only)
Jurrunio replied to Jurrunio's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I dont think that has ever been the case. Boards running mosfets bare are always down there since they need downdraft air coolers to help with cooling. Gone are the days when entry level systems only have 2 CPU cores. -

depends on what computer you do have and your major -
980 Pro 1TB Speed Degradation? Post-patched firmware.
Jurrunio replied to Multiplayer's topic in Storage Devices
Did you turn off RAPID mode? Also it sounds like you're just testing for SLC cache speed, but running out of cache sometimes so they slow down to TLC speeds -
Adjust the frequency to voltage curve so you could undervolt the GPUs to begin with. When you set a low enough frequency and voltage to run on you'll also get the power below 50%

What do you guys think is a “safe” GPU temp?
Jurrunio replied to Ryanborambo's topic in Graphics Cards
Safe as in it doesnt explode and last as long as it is intended to? That's about 95C for me. But then the boosting algorithms of modern GPUs really dont like GPUs going above 85C and they perform much better if kept below 75C (logarithmic scaling tho), do practically I would keep mine below 75C. -
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1B27_j9NDPU3cNlj2HKcrfpJKHkOf-Oi1DbuuQva2gT4/edit#gid=0 This list covers discontinued to new SSDs and you can see which is available to you, but I dont recall DRAM SATA SSDs other than the two you mentioned. Other brands moved over to HMB which consumes system memory

Normally they should be within 5 or 10 percent range of the names of those rails.

It's saying the input voltages from the PSU are way too low. But then the measurements for these are inaccurate anyways, I'll just ignore the warning

They can buy those that failed to be binned into even the lowest stack by the manufacturers and still sell them off. Maybe not less reliable once you get it working, but they could be unstable when matched with some samples of mobo or CPU Those are claims from people who don't have access or assume no one would go to shady places that sells the worst stuff possible.

So, a game company that's losing its edge by rebooting old games are taking the cake of modding to themselves, why does this smell so much like Blizzard...

laptops HP Omen vs HP Victus
Jurrunio replied to KillSTrEAk's topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
https://www.rtings.com/laptop/reviews/hp/omen-16-2022 But the older Omen 16 is also made mostly of plastic just like the Victus. If you chose the newer Omen 16 over the Victus despite the better hardware because it's full metal on the outside, then the same reason fails the old Omen 16.- 4 replies

laptops HP Omen vs HP Victus
Jurrunio replied to KillSTrEAk's topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Imo Omen just has bigger battery capacity and Wifi 6E card by Intel over the Victus. I dont see how their build quality are different, though having most USB ports to the right where most computer users have their mice on the right seems like an oversight to me. I don't think the better screen justifies the previous gen hardware price-wise, let alone running games fast enough to fully use the QHD 165Hz specs.- 4 replies

why not? You need a board that supports overclocking memory that is.

Motherboard VRM Tier List v2 (currently AMD only)
Jurrunio replied to Jurrunio's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
None of the X570S boards are performance wise different enough to warrant a different rating, they are almost just different colour and less old first BIOS.
