  1. I see everyone's going with Radeon, I personally prefer Nvidia as I find it's more customizable with settings (however I haven't used a radeon card in ages), and I don't tend to play games like WoW and such, mostly minecraft and some other odd ball games, and the budget thing, for the most part i'm trying to see if the wife will even consider letting me get a new card and the fact of the 1050 ti being in the $190 range is pushing it a lot. Not trying to be rude or anything, I will be looking into those cards and comparing, just the money factor is where it lies mostly.
  2. Watching the latest LTT video about Windows 10 gamemode and the 3 different video cards he showed, the GTX 1050 TI being the budget card, now my funding is really tight even for these cards but if it seems worth it i'll see what I can do about grabbing one: http://www.ncix.com/detail/gigabyte-gtx-1050-ti-4gb-44-137011.htm?promoid=1501 i'm currently running a gigabyte Geforce GTX 650 1G gddr5 memory, obviously the 1050 ti is an improvement on that, I just gotta find out if it's worth it.
  3. I know it's budget, and I understand most people here have king beast like PC's, one day I might end up doing another upgrade but not sure how much I can spend on that as my last upgrade was a bundle from NCIX about 5 or 6 years ago and now I have a kid too so funding is tighter. But thank you all for the info, that little bit of info was in the back of my mind for awhile and I finally remembered long enough to ask about it. I get so jealous when linus pulls out GTX 1080 cards from seemingly everywhere (referring to CSF's hexbug races).
  4. I have an Asrock Extreme3 R2.0 motherboard running an AMD FX 6300 six core processor at stock 3.5G, I know my video card is not top of the line, more like middle of the pack or so, but I want to know if my motherboard is bottle-necking my Gigabyte Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 1G DDR5 graphics card? I read that the card should be V3.0 for PCI-e X16 slot but the motherboard is a 2.0 slot.
  5. That would be cool, a fan inclusive Channel Super Fun episode. And that's why I know it's better to wait for a fan event or something public to happen.
  6. First off, Hi, my name is Chris (or InuYasha86000 on here) and I stumbled upon LinusTechTips youtube channel a few weeks ago, after watching a few videos it really started to grow on me, I recently watched the video about the Big Move to the warehouse and that there was a big meetup of people there, however that was almost 2 years ago and I didn't know about LTT yet. This is why I wanted to know if there were any plans to have another fan meetup anytime soon, I found I only live a few blocks from the warehouse but I find it would feel rather awkward, rude, and creepy to just "stop by" there as it is a live business,
  7. I'm not sure what the rule is for double posting or bumping a topic, but I wanted to post a screenshot of my Bios settings for the overclock, also I think my PC rebooted when I was at work today and it looks like there were no updates so i'm HOPING that's not a bad sign, also please note I haven't stress tested it yet either. The hard to read numbers are: CPU frequency = 200 PCIE frequency = 100 <--Just got curious if changing that would give more performance to my Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 and the bottom/selected option HT Bus Width = 16 bit
  8. I have had this thing sit at 4.5 before but lost the settings, i'll try doing an overclock tonight and see what results I get. [EDIT]So I have it as close as I can somehow get it to 4.5G, i'll post a screenshot of my Bios settings soon, but i've noticed that CPUID is showing a fluctuation in multiplier, when idle it will jump from 22.5X down to 7X and next to the multiplier section it says (7 - 22.5). I have not benched my system yet as I have never benched one before and am still figuring out idle temps and such, it's still a learning experience for me.
  9. first off this is my first post here, been watching the youtube videos a lot lately and finally made the jump to the forums as well. Anyway, my brother and I had at one point managed to overclock my CPU from the standard 3.5G to 4.5G, I am not a heavy gamer, the most intensive game I play is Minecraft unless I bust out an emulator for N64 or something, but due to a Bios reset or something similar (I don't remember the exact cause) I had lost my overclock setup and forgot all my values. now I have been looking for the youtube video I found with a guy that did an overclock to 4.5 on and Asrock board, but I cannot seem to find it and trying other overclocking explanations is very hard due to different motherboards having different OC features as well as most people try overclocking these FX6300's to either 4.2 or even as high as 5.5 I think but finding an overclock for 4.5 is tough. Does anyone have a good guide for an Asrock extreme3 r2.0 overclock on an AMD FX6300?
