  1. Sorry about the section i was just in a panic mode wanted to post it as soon as possible and didnt bother to look for sections where this topic would belong. Thanks @W-L
  2. I need some help. Like a usual panic attack guy i am, it blew my mind when i heard about Spectre and Meltdown. I have built my PC at the end of 2017 but have an Intel i5-7600 cpu and i saw it on the list of possible chips vulnerable to Spectre and Meltdown. I simply don't know what to do and i need some help from you guys who really really understand what's going on in the IT world. I have updated the latest windows update, as well as Chrome's update and i don't know what else is there to do to ensure my security and protection, any advices? This is also a topic open for advices/fixes/updates on Spectre and Meltdown/discussions about the problem.
  3. I have wrote in my original post that i'm playing on a wired connection. It's the Wifi that's the problem because of my sister doing god knows what...
  4. @brwainer my router is zte 931 VII and in qos settings it says i can pick WMM or SSID but i dont know what does that mean. I think their WISP is using 2.6 Ghz is that good?
  5. I have a question about my connection. I play League of Legends and other MOBAs on a daily basis and most of the time i.e. when i'm home alone everything is fine. My ping is 39 ms which is very nice and i have no lag and the speed is about 14 Mbit/s which is somewhat good where i live. The problem starts when my sister enters the front door. Wifi automatically connects to her mobile phone and the lag spike immediately rises to 67 ms and above. I get lags and i can't play like that anymore. Same happens when my dad or mom try to send some pictures or videos via whatsapp... Is there any way that i can modify my router settings to limit their connection so that my wired connection uses most of the internet (making it primary or something) and the wifi uses what's left? And how reliable are wireless routers because i had an offer where the isp said i can get up to 120 Mbit/s via wireless router because the receipt antenna is very near where i live, could that be true or is he just fooling me and tricking to take their network?
  6. I have DSL yes, so basically im screwed Great. I saw another ISP offering speeds like - down 120 Mbps and up 40 Mbps over WiFi only because the receiver antena is close to the airport where i am or something like that. Could that fix the problem of slow internet and how reliable is WiFi over the cable option?
  7. What is my bandwidth and how can i see it? So if i buy a new modem that wouldnt help? I have such problems with the net because like we have about 10 devices connected to the modem (not at all times) and when 2 devices are doing something slightly demanding like watching YouTube videos or playing an online game, the whole network becomes unusable for other devices or it runs veeery slowly...
  8. In my small town in Croatia we have explicitly copper wired network options because they find it expensive to drill some holes and replace the cables with fiber optic ones (so i've been told). Is there a way for me to lets say buy an fiber optics converter that converts the copper wire to the fiber optics cable so i can get faster and a more reliable network or there is no way to simply do it? My current down speed is 7.6 Mbps and upload is 0.45 Mbps. The funniest part is that i am paying my ISP for a down speed of 25 Mbps but they simply can't get it through to me...
  9. I bought an 120 Gb Adata xpg sx930 ssd and its working great, but I need more storage. I have an old WD elements 1.5 TB usb 3.0 external drive that was lying around and I was thinking of connecting it to my Pc on a daily basis so that I have more storage. Then i saw Toshiba's p300 1Tb which is an internal hard drive. The main purpose for the storage expansion are videogames and photographs. I need you to help me decide which one should I take. Is the performance of the WD vs Toshiba really that noticable or not that quite? If not then I would take that external drive I already have but if the performance is doubled or maybe tripled by the Toshiba p300 1Tb then I would definitely consider buying the Toshiba one. The reason behind this is that I do not want my games to load or to be very very slow just because of my external drive. If a hard drive already mentioned is way better I will buy it. I just need your help and suggestions. Thank you
  10. Thanks, guys, I was checking intel's official website too but still wasn't sure.
  11. I have a laptop with an Intel i5 processor, to be exact an Intel i5 3230m. I am wondering I know it is a mobile processor and I know it has 2 cores but when I go to dx diag to check how many cores it has, dx diag says that it has 4 cores. That part got me confused. Could it be that it has 4 cores or its just an error in the system?
  12. @ZM Fong I can only afford an 120gb SSD at this point, is that enough, and why shouldn't i put games in the external HDD? Does it affect the performance or something?
  13. Okay, so basically you guys are saying i should better wait for ryzen 3 to come out, are there any news bout that btw? And with ryzen 3 my build would be complete, but i do have a question for @ZM Fong. Does RX 480 perform better than gtx 1050ti? And wouldn't it be better if i took an SSD for this build since i have an external 1,5 TB drive? Again, thank you a lot for your help guys it means a lot.
  14. I would like some help in building my own first gaming pc. My budget is around 500$, because the prices here in Croatia are more expensive than around the globe. Let's just say for an average pc builder in UK/USA with around 500$ budget I can get that same build for about 600$. It's a sad reality, but anyway, I have a link below from pc part picker for my beginner build and I would like to hear opinions, why something is better and advices on some changes in my build. Thank you very much. Oh and yes, the games i mostly play are: Guild wars 2, World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Doom, Battlefield 1 and World of Tanks.
