  1. This is one of the ideapads that I think would be really useful and at a good price, however it lacks dual band wifi. Opinions?
  2. Just want to add, I really want a 15 inch but if there are cost effect 14 inch options I may go for that instead.
  3. Not really, I do not mind the weight. I would prefer it being less than 2kg. But its fine if it is
  4. Yes I am from the UK. Around £1000 could stretch up a bit.Do not mind Low sRGB or non upgradeable(prefer having min 8gb) as I have a desktop and the laptop is my secondary machine.

I am looking at an acer swift 5 to use as a college laptop for my computer science degree. I will mainly be coding in java and C++ but will also go into other types which are not to intensive on the laptop. I also have a desktop so I will mainly use this laptop when I am not at home. The battery is not too much of an issue for me and I need the screen size to be 15inches. Would this be suitable, if you think there is a better alternative for a similar price, please let me know as it will be much appreciated. Thanks
  6. I would prefer to have windows compared to mac.. I will be dual booting some form of linux but not really a fan of the mac laptops. Thanks in advance
  7. As long as its not more than 1.5-1.7kg its good and min battery life of about 5-7 hours. Thanks in advance
  8. Low sRGB is not a problem , I would prefer upgradable ram for the future.
  9. Hi, I am from the UK and I will be starting university in September. I was having trouble finding what laptop to buy. I am doing a CS(Computer science) course so I know that it has to be minimum 8gb of ram.At the moment I was thinking about the LG gram 15(£950 ,$1200) but some reviews say I should expect better hardware for that price and I am not too worried about it having dedicated GPU as I have a PC. Any help is appreciated .Thanks Link to the laptop: https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/lg-gram-i15z980-15-6-intel-core-i5-laptop-256-gb-ssd-silver-10182480-pdt.html?istCompanyId=bec25c7e-cbcd-460d-81d5-a25372d2e3d7&istFeedId=4d7eb93e-055f-499d-8ee5-1cdcc50d67d1&istItemId=wpppprram&istBid=tztx&srcid=198&cmpid=ppc~gg~1011 (PLA) Windows Laptops and Convertibles - Adaptive~1011 (PLA) Windows Laptops And Convertibles ad group~Exact&mctag=gg_goog_7904&kwid=GOOGLE&device=c&ds_kids=92700027234655884&tgtid=1011 (PLA) Windows Laptops and Convertibles - Adaptive&&gclid=CjwKEAjwue3nBRCCyrqY0c7bw2wSJACSlmGZdg2glbo97zpTa6kdNy1fCel2WFhEmwcTh-VFA0xxshoCX2vw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
  10. Solved finally after hours of troubleshooting. Ended up completely wipe my hard drives and re-installing windows from a usb.Jist leaving this here for others. If you experience a similar problem use this as a last resort as you lose all of your data if you have not backed it up.
